September 3, 201312 yr The move has its pros and cons. Whether the pros outweigh the cons depends on your personal opinion. Jose obviously thought they did. I personally think our striker problem over the last year and a bit is as much to do with the men behind the striker as the striker himself. I'd love Eto'o to prove me wrong though.
September 3, 201312 yr lukaku is a very young striker and i'm just guessing that the thinking behind his move is that he will be under a lot less pressure like he was at wba where he scored a hatload.
September 3, 201312 yr Absolutely gutted...after all of this, we're left with the 2 strikers we struggled with last season, and a free Eto'o. Have to hope Eto'o is raring to go I guess. Lukaku would have got there this season...but he didn't even get to start a match. I didn't think it would happen.
September 3, 201312 yr Good move for him. Of course everyone here is in a better position to judge but Mourinho obviously doesn't think he's ready.
September 3, 201312 yr When is a player "ready" though? Historically prodigious talent is best just thrown into the deep end
September 3, 201312 yr we do a fine job pissing off our promising players. First Moses now Lukaku. Won't be surprised if he would want a permanent move away from this circus at CFC.
September 3, 201312 yr I'm dissapointed we didn't give him a chance. Looking at Sturridge now, it makes me sick. Lukaku could be another Sturridge. But after all the rumors about Mata and Luiz the only players we got rid of was Lukaku and Moses I can live with that.
September 3, 201312 yr i'm less frustrated that lukaku's gone on loan than i am about it leaving us with torres and ba. if lukaku was going then we should've brought in another striker, as it is it just feels rushed and ill thought outwe're taking a big gamble on eto'o here. really hope the guy still has it
September 3, 201312 yr Reserving my judgement on this decision until later. We the fans still haven't seen a great deal of him and Jose and his staff have been watching him every day in training for the past 2-3 months. I hoped he'd be our first choice this year but if Jose doesn't think he is ready then that is that. It does increase the burden on Eto'o however to be the striker that actually scores goals this season. Keeping in mind he's only on a 1 year deal, the plan might be for Lukaku to return and be #1 after the expiry of Eto's contract.
September 3, 201312 yr Just a little bit disappointed but Lukaku needs games to continue his development. At West Brom he started 20 games or so, now his aim should be to start as a regular at Everton. He still seems a bit raw, that's why he needs to continually play and if he had to share that game time with Eto'o/Torres/Ba then he would not have had the time to mould his game. I also hope Chelsea made an inquiry about Ross Barkley.
September 3, 201312 yr Hey what if it was Lukakus request to go on loan for more playing time because HE felt not ready. But its fun to bash the board isn't it.
September 3, 201312 yr I just hope Eto's the answer to all our prays because bringing Torres or Ba on with 15 mins to go to break the dead-lock doesn't fill me with much hope, to be honest ...
September 3, 201312 yr I trust Jose to make the calls.I think he needs more game time and he wont get it here.Moses is the same.Far more important we have kept the likes of Mata and Luis.It might be a good time to get behind the strikers we have instead of continually slagging them off.
September 3, 201312 yr Hey what if it was Lukakus request to go on loan for more playing time because HE felt not ready. But its fun to bash the board isn't it. With chelsea's record with bad handling young player, it is most likely a board decision. we, as fans, probably wont know who wanted this move to be done, so our natural assumption is that the board is responsible. and i my self think it is the case, no reason for him to want to get a loan, why should he? why now? i dont believe it.
September 3, 201312 yr Another year of loan for him, I don't think he has much of a future at the Bridge now...
September 3, 201312 yr With chelsea's record with bad handling young player, it is most likely a board decision. They've hardly been proven wrong and i my self think it is the case, no reason for him to want to get a loan, why should he? why now? i dont believe it. Playing time? Development? He is still young. He isn't stupid, he knows he isn't good enough to lead the line. /cue torres bashing but w/e. Edited September 3, 201312 yr by Stim
September 3, 201312 yr Ps. I'm so pleased for JM's return but I'm not looking at every decision thro' rose tinted spec's ... another poor decision and there's been a few already ... That's where I am too. I know we have to trust Mourinho and I want him to be here for the long haul and hopefully really build something but already a few of his decisions have me more than a little concerned. Seems we didn't want Ba to go to Arsenal as they are deemed to be a rival (although maybe the figure wasn't right too) but we're quite happy to strengthen Liverpool by letting them have Moses. Just doesn't make sence. And now sending Lukaku out on loan after what was said during pre-season and when every one is raving about the lad. I'm lost for words.
September 3, 201312 yr They've hardly been proven wrong Sturridge? JoshM? Sometime we think we didnt miss a player cause he sucked elswhere, but what about the fact that a series of ongoing loan's f'ed them up? it might be possible. i dont like to think that way but i think its reasonable. Playing time? Development? He is still young. He isn't stupid, he knows he isn't good enough to lead the line. /cue torres bashing but w/e. If we had RVP and Ronney on our squad i'll be on agreement with you. but as of now we are with Ba, Torres and Eto'o. about the first im not sure, he was never given proper chance since he got here, and yet he is not a leading ST. Eto'o might be a solution, but not for the long run. short term solutions is not what mourinho talked about in his press. and please dont make me wast my time and keyboard gas on torres...

Sometime we think we didnt miss a player cause he sucked elswhere, but what about the fact that a series of ongoing loan's f'ed them up? it might be possible. i dont like to think that way but i think its reasonable. Josh M hasn't done anything special. Sturridge maybe but then that's 1 out of how many? The club actually rarely get it wrong and if he and the club are ok with him going on loan then perhaps it is what is best for him.
September 3, 201312 yr Hey what if it was Lukakus request to go on loan for more playing time because HE felt not ready. But its fun to bash the board isn't it. are you retarded?
September 3, 201312 yr Lukaku's performances last season indicated to me he was ready for the step up. I really do not understand this loan :(

Yes, like showing no confidance in players by ongoing loans does good for them. im not saying chelsea board is always wrong but i can say about this one that they are in the wrong for sure, no matter how lukakou sacceed (or not) in everton. and just days after he missed a crucial pen against munich, really? is that a way to treat young players? i think not.
September 3, 201312 yr Lukaku signed in August 2011, on a 5 year deal worth up to 18 million. This will be his third season where he gets no football at chelsea. My fear is that he plays a blinder, and comes back next summer with two years left on his contract, at which point he has us over a barrel in respect of contract renewal. we have obtained absolutely zero value from another lavish outlay and it f**king irritates the absolute sh*t out of me to think that we are going into this season with title and champions league aspirations, with torres, ba and eto'o as our options up front. f**king woeful.
