Branislav Ivanovic - Your Views?

Featured Replies

Hands around the throat is worse than arms around the body surely, besides how effective would it be to head butt whilst the arms are about someone; ludicrous!

Haven't you ever seen the way they hug in Serbia? That is their way to show affection. Not sure why Branna shows it to McCarthy but he should be honored.

Just watched the replay. If they decide to give Branna suspension I start to believe there is a campaign. Heated match, heated players. They kicked the ball to sky after the whistle which heated up Branna and Cesc. There was no intention to hurt anyone just Branna's way of informing McCarthy he shouldn't get involved. Bad tackles should be punished by suspensions.

I think the hands around Ivan's throat is way worse than the arms around his body.

The whole biting thing is just ridiculous and a total non-event.

Hes going to get banned for 3 matches its a given

Cant have our best RB playing in the impending cup final against the plucky underdogs featuring England's next great lily white hope Mr. Kane

Trial by media for Chelsea, FA charges, always a myopic referee

All other teams the ref always sees the incident and no further action required

Joke

If Ivanovic is banned and Stones isn't Jose needs seriously to kick up.

Is the ref supposed to have eyes in the back of his f**king head or something? Ref had a fantastic game last night, but let's blame him for not having 360 degrees panoramic vision.

Ivanovic didn't get booked for the arm around McCarthy's neck which the ref saw so why should Stones get retrospective punishment for a similar incident?

If there is a ban it will be for the 'head movement', something that no-one has yet given a decent explanation for.

He wanted to ask McCarthy out for a coffee after the game but had to whisper it into his ear so nobody else would hear... also so he wouldn't be drowned out entirely by the uncompromising roar of the West Stand.

A ban for moving the head? A forensic approach, was there intent? That is, was there aggression on Ivanovic's face together with significant movement back by the head as would be the case for a butt. What was the context? I don't see it; what would be a decent explanation for having hands around someone's neck?  I think hands around the neck seems worse than an arm that seemingly was used to try and difuse a situation. Who knows, but I'm sure we'll hear more from the media soon.

I know this is hardly news to anyone, but the Daily Mail having a story on Ivan's 'bite'...seriously!?  Bite, really?  Even their video doesn't prove their point!  Very selective with their photos, not printing anything showing Stone's hands around Ivan's neck at all.

Now they've got an article asking if Jose is bad for the premier league (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2950417/Jose-Mourinho-won-does-touchline-tantrums-far-Sportsmail-experts-discuss-Chelsea-boss-good-Premier-League.html) ... WTF!!??  It just keeps getting better...!!!

I can't help but feel pissed off at this, mainly because they're making sh*t up to try and get our players banned.  He will get a ban for sure, I have no doubt about it.

I said this with the Costa business and I'll say it again; in any other walk of life this would be slander and libel, why is it the media think they can write, or say what they like with no evidence. It's disgusting.

Yep, and everyone buys into it.  I don't wear rose-tinted glasses, I don't think our players can do no wrong, but I hate this instant jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to the everything we do.  They're looking to trip us up over everything.

The "bite" stuff is as ridiculous as the "headbutt" and the claim that he put his hands round McArthy's throat.  I'd like to see anything where there is evidence of any of this.

To me it looked like he was a little heated, but so too was McAarthy at that point.  And Ivan was, through gritted teeth and in an aggressive manner, telling him to calm the f**k down.

Seriously if anyone can show me a picture of him grabbing McArthy around the throat I'd love to see it.

If he did "bite" him, don't you think McArthy would have reacted, and done the usual in trying to show the ref the marks Ivan's teeth left?  Finally, didn't Ivan get booked in all that melee?  If so, the FA can't take retroactive action, can they?

Just wondering where this bite talk is coming from? I haven't seen footage of anything that could be construed as a bite???

Nope, me neither, but the Daily Mail seem to think there is clear image of this.  Bullsh*t!

But... But... What about the campaign?!

Has it not been evident enough in the last 20-odd hours how much the media are trying to get our players and manager in trouble?

Plenty of posters on here haven't been limiting it to the media though, thinking the FA will do whatever the media says.

Anyway, Ivanovic not being banned is great news.

Now we can all go back to calling for his head for being a crap defender and useless crosser.

Breaking News: Daniel Taylor is gutted.

Because his team lost to Rochdale or beat Burnley?

Made up that he can play in the final considering he played such a role getting us there but he's got to watch that temper. Lost it at West Brom last year, lost it last night and he's a senior player now so there's no excuse.

I suppose if people want to moan about an agenda they could go on an Arsenal, City, United or Liverpool forum where they're all moaning about an agenda against them because of this decision. Great day for Chelsea.

You mean both the FA and the media have magnaminous tendencies?

I must be cynical as I think both have a reciprocal, financial interest. I wouldn't trust the FA as far as I could kick a footie ball, and that's not far as I have a dodgy hip.

Quality media is sadly lacking these days.
