Chelsea v Sunderland (PL) 07/04/13 KO 15:00 BST

With 8 fixtures remaining we find ourselves at game number 31 in the league, home to Sunderland.

The away fixture last December was Benitez's first league game in charge of the blues. For those with a foggy memory we 'enjoyed' a 3-2 victory that day - an unlikely double from Torres (sparking thoughts of 'the fat one will get him going!'). Another goal was provided from the ever reliable Juan Mata.

The return fixture that followed was in January, where a certain Super Frankie Lampard scored the only goal of the game. This was the starting lineup from that match:

Cech, Bosingwa, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Romeu, Meireles, Ramires, Torres, Mata

The fixture on Sunday is an absolute must win game, which will probably resemble that of a drunken brawl. Sunderland, desperate to stay out of the relegation zone and eager to impress their new boss are likely be lively and physical following Di Canio taking the reigns at the club.

Spurs entertain Everton at home and should face little trouble, the ever increasing form of Bale being a key factor. With Arsenal only 2 points behind us and away to West Brom, we simply cannot afford any more slip ups.

Here's hoping we play a weaker team tonight in the Europa League that's capable of sealing a comfortable lead, whilst retaining as much freshness for the weekend as possible. The one advantage we have is we are not travelling, so that is one positive thing.

I expect the interim to put out a reserve side, consisting solely of teenagers, in order not to jeopardise our cup chances.

Hilario, Malouda, Ferreira, Benayoun, Marin and Torres will be subs.

How can you forget home game vs City? :face_palm:

Apparently Di Canio is going to field an entire team of Right Wingers.

Bad jokes aside.

It wont happen but I would still like to see it, seeing as both Ba and Torres have arguably been the best players in the last two games how about playing together against Sunderland?

No idea how we would line up with them both starting but maybe something like.

-------------Cech

Dave - Ivan - Luiz - Bertrand

-------------Mikel

---Ramires ------- Oscar

--------------Mata

-----------Ba - Torres

Don't know about that, Everton are pretty good plus with Bale out offers the defense (Baines) more opportunities to get through, I would say Spurs are favourites but wouldn't be surprised to see Everton come away with something.

😃Zola your news report-like match preview is as accurate as Torres in the penalty area. Is anything right there..? 😄

The part about Di Canio, probably! Got sidetracked and rushed in work when writing it ;)

Thats my excuse anyway.

We ll be back to 3rd after our 3 1 win tomoz........Torres.....Lampard and Hazard to score......Theirs will be a penalty.........Lots of noise from sunderlands 1800 fans in a 40000 crowd...........Anything else you need to know?

Oh how I wish we had Di Canio instead of Tubby.

May that di*k never ever manage us.

Vital that we win this one ovbiously so Benitez better put the strongest possible side out.
