June 21, 201610 yr A bit mixed on the episode. The battle was intense and creative but too implausible for a series that put so much work previously into making authentic battle scenes. As with the rest of this series, it's a bit obvious it's the TV writers who've taken over from GRRM for the majority of the writing. The "lets fix the world ruined by men" scene brought to mind all the terrible writing involving the sand snakes; weren't the ironborn going to war in order to ensure they'd never subservient again? Why did they so easily enter into a pact that means the Ironborn have even less freedom than they already had? Twists no longer feel smart and take you by surprise and whereas the early seasons made you feel no one was ever safe and everyone was vulnerable, this season went out its way to try to show how 'badass' some characters are. Think next season has to be the last now as the show is definitely running out of steam GRRM hasn't really been involved since season 3 I believe and it has really shown in the writing of the show. Visually the show is still immense and if you don't think about anything in to any detail I am sure it is still a good watch but there is just way to much that doesn't make any sense and characters motivations for there actions no longer existent, clever plots or story lines as it is all just what can we make look good. June 22, 201610 yr Rickon was the most pointless 'main' character. Might as well not have been there at all.
June 27, 201610 yr I've got half day today at work. I'll get this watched in the afternoon so it doesnt clash with the England game.
June 27, 201610 yr so you're telling me that i have to wait for about 10 months for season 7? sweet baby jesus.. what a finale Edited June 27, 201610 yr by havelschayes
June 27, 201610 yr Is it as good as last week's? Are there any battles? :) not just better, for me it's the second best got episode ever (so far) after rains of castemere let's just say that many sh*ts happen in this episode
June 27, 201610 yr Yeah a typical episode 10...not high octane per se but still superb. So April then? Sigh.
June 27, 201610 yr Yeah a typical episode 10...not high octane per se but still superb. So April then? Sigh. i thought this one's very very different from past season finales, where past season's finale nothing really major happened and it always felt like it only serve as an epilogue to ep9 and ep9's the true final episode of the season maybe because i don't read the books but this episode really caught me off guard, i don't expect all those things to happen in one episode especially in episode 10
June 27, 201610 yr I always hate it when the screen goes black and the white writing comes down at the end. But tonight I hated it with a virulence that knows no bounds! It's a long time till April, damn it!
June 27, 201610 yr Probably my favourite season so far. Really gutted it's done for another 10 months, and apparently season 7 has less episodes:(
June 28, 201610 yr What a way to kill off several main characters in about 10 seconds. I wonder if Jamie was on Ayra's kill list or she was just scouting the room, thankfully Jamie didn't get tempted to chat up the cute waitress.
June 28, 201610 yr Author Yeah a typical episode 10...not high octane per se but still superb. So April then? Sigh. What episode were you watching? Probably one of the best episodes in the series.
June 28, 201610 yr What episode were you watching? Probably one of the best episodes in the series. What post were you reading? Clearly not mine or you would have seen I said it was 'superb'
June 28, 201610 yr It was all too easy in that finale, didn't have the punch other big events had. The characters who died, died because they'd run out of story for them and the writers wanted a clearout. I don't think the writers really understand why the red wedding was such a standout sequence; it was shocking because it felt like most of the characters were in the middle of their story and had a future all lined out for them. None of the characters who died really had any sort of mysteries still to be revealed, you don't care they died because there was nowhere for them to go in terms of exposition or ambitions.
