June 10, 201412 yr The Daily Fail are now saying Friday, along with Costa... I wont post the link because I dont want to give them hits...but they are just repeating the same old crap thats been reported days ago, no quotes or anything.
June 10, 201412 yr Dont players have to be at Cobham to officially sign? Thats where the photos happen and such. I know the medical for Costa was done abroad... but he still hasnt actually signed. Fabregas, to our knowledge hasnt even done a medicial yet. The world cup is all but here, he wont be pardoned from the Spain camp at this stage to do a medical. I think there is literally no chance of this being completed until after the world cup.

June 10, 201412 yr Maybe so, but can you see del bosque being happy to let Fabregas go and do a medical 3 days out from their first game. I can't. There's been delay tactics somewhere along the lines, we havent seen the full picture yet.
June 10, 201412 yr I suppose he might if it meant his focus was now on Spain with his club fututre sorted out. Must be a worry having a player in the ranks who doesnt even know where he is playing next season.
June 10, 201412 yr Im sure they get free time after training etc. Chelsea could do a medical if they wanted to
June 10, 201412 yr Might have been the "so called" deal to exclude Arsenal from any profits that have delayed things. How amazing would it be for the club to announce Costa and Cesc at the same time. Hopefully it will be today but I very much doubt it. If its not today,I can't see them announcing it during the tournament..or would they?
June 10, 201412 yr If it is after the world cup then i dont see why both couldnt get announced on the same day.
June 10, 201412 yr At the risk of sounding like a clueless hack, its most likely there will be an announcement that the transfers have been 'agreed', and then then they will be 'completed' at a later date, after international commitments, holidays and of course a medical (if it hasnt been done already).
June 10, 201412 yr Can we please announce the transfers of Costa, Luis and Fabregas at the same time?

June 10, 201412 yr http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2652762/Frank-Lampard-tough-act-Chelsea-target-Cesc-Fabregas-follow.html Spot on. The thing is though is that Fabregas won't be expected to replicate Lampard's goal scoring, the midfield goal scoring burden now sits with Hazard, Oscar and Schurrle who are all more than capable for scoring double figures in a season. If Fabregas does sign, it's the assists you would hope he brings with him because our lack of creativity from deeper positions was a weakness last season but Matic came in and instantly improved things finishing the season with 5 assists I believe, should Fabregas sign I think him and Matic could form a very decent partnership and link the play from defense to attack much better than the majority of last season.

There's been delay tactics somewhere along the lines, we havent seen the full picture yet. Perhaps Barcelona doesn't really want him to go and are trying to convince him to stay....
June 10, 201412 yr Thought his and Costas transfer would be finalized by now. This is getting tedious . . .
June 10, 201412 yr Well, Fabregas is a La Masia graduate and Barcelona will need midfielders soon with Xavi on the verge of retiring. Maybe the idea that Barcelona wants to get rid of him is all paper talk?

I honestly don't think he is going to play next to Matic. I think he'll be in place of Oscar not as well as. Or perhaps in a three man midfield with Ramires. Either way Oscar isn't starting. He has scored well for Barca (in an easier league, and in a different role). So I'm not too fussed about lack of goals. If we wanted goals that could ply next to Mata we should have signed Cabaye from Newcastle.
June 10, 201412 yr I feel he is certain to be played beside Matic if he signs. Jose won't drop Oscar.

I think the focus next season will be high ball retention but quick pressing high up the pitch when we do lose the ball. Oscar is a player who is going to be good at the pressing and that's why I think he won't be dropped personally. Based on the rumours of who we're signing I think we might line up as Azpilicueta - Cahill - Terry - Luis Fabregas - Matic Willian - Oscar - Hazard Costa
