I don't think I care anywhere near enough about Mikel to contribute to this heated discussion about a bloke that rarely ever gets on the pitch.

It amazes me how when someone puts over a counter opinion on here they are labelled a fanboy or there's claims he is a usual suspects slaughtering someone. You believe bluedaze hit the nail on the head yet others think he was wrong, isn't that how a debate works? Or are we not allowed our opinion. Cest la vie....

Exactly that, a squad is made up of many differing skills, each necessary to winning trophies, and mikel had been a part of many squads and many trophy wins.

I disagreed, it's called a counter argument. It contributes to the 'free flow of opinion' because I'm allowed mine too.

 

If people questioning your opinion is called slaughtering then I suggest you read a blog and not a forum.

But that's just your opinion. What you're doing comes very close to what you're accusing others of doing, and that phrase I've highlighted indicates strongly that you think your opinion to be that much more valid than that of anyone who thinks differently.

 

To a large extent, anyone holding an unpopular opinion has the choice to either dig his heels in and continue to defend that opinion or to shrug his or her shoulders and accept that the majority aren';t going to be swayed by his or her argument any more than he or she is likely to be swayed by the majority argument.

 

As for me, I really can't be bothered to get into the Mikel thing all over again. There's nothing new here. It's all been said before. The best we can hope for is a slightly different way of expressing the same old tired arguments.

It's funny how every other season Mikel gets criticized despite never complaining about his lack of playing time etc. He just comes on and performs his job what he's asked for. I know he's not that good to be a first team player for Chelsea but he's still a very good squad member and can do his job without any fuss. And also one thing to note that he's is a experienced player and one of the senior member of our squad and he might play a crucial part in latter stages of CL. He's important player for Mourinho when it comes to shutting the game down.

 

I really don't mind him being the member of our squad unless we find a good homegrown player to replace him "who'll be ready to sit on bech for most of the time".

Mikel does his job to absolute perfection when ever he is called upon. He is the perfect player to bring on when we need to protect a lead and is completely reliable and always makes the defence feel a hell of a lot safer. His positional awareness is immense.

 

He has been an extremely important player for us for years and still is when he is called upon. If we face someone like Real madrid in the CL I know I would feel safer with Mikel in the pivot than Rami or Fab.

 

Just because he doesn't do anything that looks to spectaculer doesn't mean he isn't doing his job well. The lack of respect for him seems quite ignorant to be honest. Arsenal, Man u, liverpool would all be much better sides with a Mikel to help their leaky defences.

He's not good enough for Arsenal. He was being shopped around in the summer and the only enquiries came from abroad.

 

He's far better than Arteta who has been awful for the past couple of years, and no more limited than Flamini.

Not to mention it's the same group of people constantly. It's actually tiresome, I can't make a post without it being documented and looked at in the worst way possible, what even is a friendly discussion? I don't think I've had one of them.

 

I think people actually should just look at it from other people perspective rather than mocking them, I like a bit of rough now and then but I also like a bit of sensible debating not just the constant same sh*t if someone doesn't like what you said.

 

Anyway never mind.

 

Back on subject, as I said I don't think anyone is scapegoating Mikel, it's pretty much just pointing out what he gives to the side, some of us don't rate him, that's not exactly picking on him. I really don't think there is that much more to discuss though because of his game time and the fact that we don't know if he is staying or going, I think we have pretty much addressed everything.

Once again you're completely looking at this the way you want to.

 

I said fanboy once and you're completely taking it out of context, if you read my post and Stims second post you would find out that he actually got it wrong himself, I was saying fanboy to Blue Daze because I know him from somewhere else and he knows what I'm talking about. The word fanboy had nothing to do with anybody here, I made that pretty clear in my other post which you probably didn't want to read.

If you want to dig that up look in the early matchday threads at the start of the season. I'll admit I make mistakes, I don't mean anyone harm, but the difference between me and you is that I actually mean well, you don't. You constantly quote my posts every day on here and look for every single negative aspect you can find and cling on to it. If anyone says anything against me you give it a cheeky like just to try and set me off. Also if I try and keep the peace you will laugh at me you and the others and say ohhh how hypocritical of you, it's almost as if I can't do anything right.

 

And since that is the case I'll just go posting my average day stuff since there really isn't anything I can do to please any of you right? I would be up for some suggestions that would be nice but do try and give something positive rather than just insulting me or a cheesy one liner to get some likes, is that possible by any chance?

Mikel has been a Chelsea player for 8 years, 9 years in 2015. He's a champions league winner, who started that game, and put in a very good performance, the treatment that he gets from fans sometimes is wrong, people seem to spill their drinks over themselves whenever he comes on the pitch, but he's mostly reliable, and he's solid backup for Matic, he came on at 1-0 against Arsenal, we won the game 2-0, and I think he put in a solid performance. If we hadn't of pushed him as DM in 2006, then maybe he could have become a better player, but regardless, in 8 years he has earned my respect, that's a long time to be at one club these days, he's been a good servant to the club, I saw the joy on his face when Costa scored, he legitimately cares about the club. We've got Ginkel returning next season, and Ake needs more game time, he's a hot prospect, but whether he does move on at the end of the season or not, I wish him all the best.
