July 24, 201411 yr Are we really making snap judgments on Zouma based on just 3 pre-season matches having just joined up with team for the first time? You must be new around here haha. Nah, i think the lad has the size and speed. Just needs the education.
July 24, 201411 yr The key word with Zouma is one we are all too familiar with and that is 'potential'. I hadn't watched much of Zouma at St Etienne last season but he has always been described as being a 'raw' player. From my understanding he has all the foundations of a good/potentially great CB but needs time to hone his skills. In the end Jose will do as he sees fit and if that means staying with the first xi then so be it as most of the time he is right in his decisions.
July 24, 201411 yr Let's put it into a bit of perspective. The lad is 19, just moved to a new country and new team. He's most likely be asked to play in a new system and being asked to do things that weren't previously expected of him. Can you imagine how nerve wracking it must be trying to make a good impression on a coach like Mourinho and lining up in a defense alongside a club legend like JT? So far he's misjudged a long played over the top from the halfway line and could have been better positioned for the cross last night. These aren't errors that most defenders aren't prone to making... Let's give him a chance to settle before saying he needs to be shipped off on loan for the season. There's obviously something the club like about him or else they wouldn't have invested £12m on the lad and Mourinho seems to be giving him plenty of game time in pre-season so perhaps he's trying to help him settle into his new surroundings.

July 24, 201411 yr he made many more mistakes but those 2 were punished by goalsSo did terry, so did Felipe, so did pretty much every player on the pitch. Its pre season for him in a new team, its pretty much meaningless other than fitness and sharpness. What mourinho sees in training is much more important.
July 24, 201411 yr A year with John Terry is like 3 years on loan getting experience. I say keep him in the first team squad. Ok he is rash at times but it is his positional sense that is the real problem. Remember a certain Gary Cahill had the same problem until John helped him. My hope is that both Terry and Drogbs will be on the coaching set up in a few years and Lampard too when his playing days are over.
July 24, 201411 yr If Zouma should be kept on, then why was Kalas sent packing? Wasn't Kalas raw too?
July 24, 201411 yr If Zouma should be kept on, then why was Kalas sent packing? Wasn't Kalas raw too? Maybe Mourinho thinks Zouma has more potential than Kalas.
July 24, 201411 yr Maybe Mourinho thinks Zouma has more potential than Kalas. We will have to bow to Mourinho's superior knowledge but right now, Kalas looks the much better player. We do have the luxury of having potentially three quality young defenders on our books, if not more. Kalas is still only 21 and has always looked good and hardly put a foot wrong in his one really big test to date. And young Christensen at only 18, to me looks a better bet than Zouma. Can't help think Zouma is currently getting the nod because of that old cliche "physical presence" and the fact he cost us £12m but time will tell and hopefully we are sorted for centre backs for years to come.
July 24, 201411 yr So what's happened to Romeu? Got the number 20 shirt apparently... which basically means McEachrean's Chelsea days are over.
July 25, 201411 yr McEachrean is done at Chelsea. He isnt on the pre season tour. I think its safe to say that the club are looking to offload him one way or another.
July 25, 201411 yr McEachrean is done at Chelsea. He isnt on the pre season tour.Yes I wondered what that was about, especially as players who will for certain go out on loan (Bamford for example) are out there with the first team. I think that may be the nail in coffin. Perhaps he didn't apply himself correctly but with so many loans and then hardly getting any playing time with that respective team it can't have done his confidence any good.
July 25, 201411 yr McEachrean is done at Chelsea. He isnt on the pre season tour. I think its safe to say that the club are looking to offload him one way or another. Good. He's a dirty little chav anyway.
July 25, 201411 yr Josh really didnt live up to this potential, that was a shame, But he is a joe allan type player, he'll fit in what system, cant defend and doesnt score.
July 25, 201411 yr Good. He's a dirty little chav anyway. Why? Seems very harsh for you to call a kid that, without knowing him personally.
July 25, 201411 yr Why? Seems very harsh for you to call a kid that, without knowing him personally. I follow him on Twitter. His lifestyle is along the lines of that tit Jack Wilshere, judging by his tweets and pictures.
July 25, 201411 yr Good. He's a dirty little chav anyway. Marvellous thing to say about a Chelsea player (even though it looks like his days are numbered).
July 25, 201411 yr Marvellous thing to say about a Chelsea player (even though it looks like his days are numbered). I'm not going to automatically fall in love with every player who plays for us. Anyway, we have so many players who can play in McEachran's position, he didn't exactly thrill on loan at Swansea, or wherever else we went him. Best get him out the door as soon as possible. On topic, Zouma is going to have a hard job competing with Terry and Cahill. But I suppose if Terry gets injured he'll be able to slot in, if JM rates him highly enough.
July 25, 201411 yr I follow him on Twitter. His lifestyle is along the lines of that tit Jack Wilshere, judging by his tweets and pictures. I have him McEachran on Twitter too and all I could divine from it is that he seems to spend half his life in the gym. Either keeping fit is part of the normal life of a footballer or he has received instructions to 'bulk up' before he comes back. Not that that really explains why he's missing from the squad... Either way I think it's unfair to characterize him as a chav. He doesn't come across as the next Chomsky or anything, but find me a 21-year-old who does...
July 25, 201411 yr but find me a 21-year-old who does... Noam Chomsky aged 21? And I know it's hard to judge someone based purely on their Twitter profile but with Josh I've just always thought he struck as being a bit boring if anything.
July 25, 201411 yr I follow him on Twitter. His lifestyle is along the lines of that tit Jack Wilshere, judging by his tweets and pictures. What specifically on twitter has he written to make you come to that conclusion?
