Zouma - If Kurt's Happy, I'm Happy!

Great challenge on Aguero, but he scared the life out of me making that tackle, it would of been extremely easy for him to miss that tackle and get sent off.

I used to make those tackles all the time when I played, it was the only thing I was good at really, I still make those types of tackles on a hard floor now, it ruins your knees, but I always get the ball. It's great to see well times sliding tackles.

Funny thing was that we were looking to him, at least I was, as the possible future replacement to JT in the team. Turns out it is Cahill who has fallen to Zouma and JT is still looking good. Meaning we still need to look for a long term successor to JT.

Maybe Kalas, Christensen or someone else we may need to buy again.

I personally don't see a Cahill - Zouma partnership in the future. In most CB partnerships you have one guy who's the dominant one, and I don't see that. For me, they're both #2 guys in a partnership. Once Terry leaves, a top ten CB to lead the line will be a must.

I believe Zouma should continue to play with Terry until he falters. If it's few and far between, then promote him to start full time.

Zouma is 20, in the future he could be a #1 guy, he could become a great leader, maybe even a captain in the future.

I've got to say he's surprised me with how fast he's improved.

A few months ago he seemed really raw and i didn't want him anywhere near the first Xl.  Now he seems confident and more comfortable on the ball.

He still has minor lapses in terms of positioning and timing his jumps and he needs to work on his technique a bit more but i see a real diamond in the rough.

I am struggling to come up with a comparison defensively as there are not many players who have his physical attributes.  I guess Japp Stam, Desailly or a more dominant Kompany would be the best ones.

That's right. It will be stupidity to let Cahill to our rivals. No doubt that they would want him.

Lightning quick, strong as an Ox and composed.

Can’t believe he’s only 20! Playing first team football from 17 has clearly done him a world of good in France.

A Zouma Terry partnership looks the real deal. Zouma has the pace to compensate for Terry while Terry is a world class centre back who will be glad of a quick partner.

Cahill needs to improve to get his place back IMO.

I've noticed that too but Zouma's physical attributes are so good that he can more than make up for any lapses, either through his recovery speed or his simply ridiculous leap. The more he plays with Terry then the quicker he'll learn how to position himself optimally. Whilst he still needs more work on the ball, we've got a real gem here IMO.

Yeah, he got turned by Lukaku at one point in the second half against Everton but recovered wonderfully. Despite a fair amount of distance between them he managed to get in a tackle and put it out for a corner.

I'd say he's the quickest centre back I have seen.

His abilty to catch guys who are fast despite being a few yards behind them is incredible.

Lapses are to be expected as he's only 20 but game time with Terry and training with the others will only go towards improving that aspect of his game.
