I don't understand how you think that isn't excessive, baring in mind the FA won't take into account how bad the challenge was.

FA confirm Routledge red card rescinded on Friday evening

Swansea winger Wayne Routledge has successfully appealed against the red card he was shown against QPR on New Year’s Day and will face no further punishment.

Routledge was sent off for his reaction to a strong tackle from Karl Henry in the 86th minute of the 1-1 draw, with Henry booked for the challenge.

The dismissal had left Routledge facing a three-match ban but that has been lifted after his appeal was upheld.

It's not the same. Routledge doesn't even do anything, he pushes Fer at one point but it's hard to tell if he was sent off for the push on Fer, or the little reaction to Karl Henry's tackle. What ever it is he has been sent off for it's not really the same as Matic's push.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though definitely, Matic has never reacted like that. He has had plenty of times to kick off he doesn't retaliate, N'zonzi was trying to pick on him because them two were the big boys, Matic didn't react to it he just got stuck in.

 

I've never seen him lose his temper like that so for that reason alone it must have been pretty f**king bad, which it most definitely was. I still think he has to take some of the blame here, he has to be more professional regardless of getting no protection from the referee. This is why Atkinson has to be punished, he simply allowed this to go on, he didn't even have a word with that dirty bar steward who was fouling our players all game intentionally. Disgusting behaviour and mind games or not you can see why Mourinho constantly goes on about it.

 

All I can hope is this is the last we will ever see from all this bull sh*t, it's time the F.A. actually realised the terrible inconsistency in our games.

 

What sickens me is I already know it, Matic will keep the 3 game ban, Atkinson will have no charge, neither will that bell end when really he should be getting a serious warning.

Sure, If I was a player I would not have reacted like that at all, knowing my absence could very well fk up our season especially in such a vital phase.

We've already dropped 2 points because of that.

This isn't a player with a poor disciplinary record, if it was Ivanovic, Costa or even worse someone like Joey Barton you would tell them they seriously need to stop being provoked as much. Regardless of how shocking the incident was and with the little protection from the referee should I say f**k all protection from the referee you would still be disappointed in the player because we can't really know if it was overreacting or if it's the player losing his head easy again.

 

As for Matic I guess we have to give him the benefit of the doubt here, we have never seen this from him, he is one of our most composed players if not our most composed. He's been tempted plenty of times by players he hasn't reacted, this time he did, I think it's fair to say there is a good reason for that.

 

Not saying he shouldn't take responsibility because he damn well should but there are plenty of people to blame here, I think the referee mostly.

But the more replays I see of that tackle the angrier I get. How can he not have produced a card for a challenge as bad as that. Matic did well to just push him and not take the c**t right out. I know you have to have discipline but that tackle was f**king outrageius and to see it go completely unpunished is shocking and leaves a real feeling of total injustice. Didn't have a problem with Atkinson before today but he has made himself very unpopular in the Nibs household after today!

A bloke on 5live reckons referees are told to avoid giving a card during a game if they are unsure whether its a yellow or red so the FA can take retrospective action. Hope that happens although it seems like bollocks.

Felt a red card for a push was harsh at the time, and thought that Matic was restrained after watching the replay of the tackle.

 

Whilst I want a ban for Barnes' dirty play, I want Matic back for Tottenham even more.  I'll be upset if we don't appeal the 3 game ban in light of the ludicrous refereeing decision to leave the foul unpunished - the incident would never have happened if the referee had been doing his job in the first place.
