Nemanja Matic - Great Player?

Featured Replies

Those two incidents arent even close to being comparable

Just seen it and I honestly don't see how they aren't comparable, if Matic was a red card offence why isn't that one? He blatantly pushes the player over.

Have u got a clip of the vertongen push?

I quite honestly don't see how that's not a red card offence like Matic's was.

Id be absolutely livid if a red card was given for that against a chelsea player. Matic push is way, way more aggressive. Ref also should have sent og Noble before Vertonghen pushed him so I can see why he didnt even card him. Of all the f**k ups Atkinson did yesterday, sending off Matic wasnt one of them

I don't think Matic or Vertonghen should be sent off but if Matic is going to be sent off then so should Vertonghen. If you think about it, Vertonghen's is actually worse. Vertonghen is unprovoked and pushes Noble in the neck and shoulder.

Liverpool fan in peace here - totally back you lads on Matic. Almost a leg breaker and Matic reacting the way he did was fully understandable.

Hope Matic gets unbanned and Barnes somehow gets one. Not expecting much from the FA though.

I would of been absolute livid if a Chelsea player got sent off the way Matic did, but nevermind eh.

I think Matic's looks worse (although isnt) than Vertonghens because he actually runs off in pursuit of the player.

But when push comes to shove (fnar fnar) they are exactly the same.

Missed a similar one on Zouma. That c**t Barnes was out to hurt people instead of playing football.

Yeah I only noticed that today when I had chelsea TVs full replay of the game...what a thug...it's cos of him I want Burnley to get relegated rather than stay up now...fact Sean dyche stood up for him and laughed it all off was a disgrace too

To add insult to injury, looks like Barnes won't get punished...unbelievable

From the express: They cannot punish Barnes retrospectively, as it was an on-the-ball incident.

The only exception is if the challenge is rated so bad it would merit more than a three-match ban.

The feeling at the FA is that while the challenge was bad, it was not exceptional.

Presumably Matic would need to have had his leg broken for them to rate it as 'exceptional'...game is run by utter fcukwits

Mark Halsey was saying that the rule is that a push below the neck is only a yellow, so by the letter of the law it should be overturned. The run up makes it look much worse.

Barnes not getting a retrospective punishment shows that the current system is an absolute joke.

Crazy.

If he had of broken his leg and ended his career, Barnes would of got at best 5 game ban and be back playing in a month.

Howard Webb said the same, a push on the body is a yellow card not a red.

It should be overturned it's absolutely ridiculous.

Fingers crossed for matic. Glad he's okay but still think he was foolish to react. These challenges happen every week.

Who remembers our Cahill taking out Sanchez? Bardsley on Hazard? McNair on Wilshere?

It happens every week, no need to react and ultimately cost your team two points.

I need to look at the incident again, but Matic didn't punch or eye gauging that c*, did he? All I remember was a push/shove to the upper body , sure it was't nice, but it's not something really sinister. I said it somewhere, he should have s* that c* at the expense of missing 3 games.

It's so easy to say stuff like this when it wasn't your leg that was nearly broken...of course he shouldn't react, but I don't blame him...it was a human reaction...players aren't robots...Barnes is a scumbag - up there in Stephen hunt territory for me

In terms of justice is far more important the FA hands Barnes a lengthy ban for that horrific tackle than it is Matic gets his ban overturned.

In terms of benefit to us obviously I hope we get the ban overturned.
