Diego Costa to Chelsea

Featured Replies

What about Dzeko?

I'd take him in a heartbeat, Man City would never sell to a rival though.....unlike us.

I don't think Costa or Mandzukic are in the same league as Balotelli, RVP or Tevez.

He's having a great season but looks bang average on many occasions I have watched him.

Yes he works hard and puts himself about but he isnt a special player like Drogba was.

I think he will be a huge waste of funds.

Mandzukic is top scorer of the Bundesliga, i think he deserves to be in there but he could be similar to Dzeko. Costa is in there for me on merits of this season. He didn't look great against us but he scoring goals that have taken AM to the top of La Liga, maybe he needs a second 30+ goals season to cement himself as a top striker.

I think this just illustrates my point further. Im sure there are arguments that Balotelli is inconsistent and gets in on potential rather than output

I think Balotelli gets in there because hes proved hes a goal scorer in England and in International football as well as scoring in Italy.

He also is a far better 'footballer' than Costa who is more a work horse than anything else.

I still don't think Balotteli is or ever will be a world class striker.

I dont rate Mandzukic at all, think he's bang average in all honesty.

What about Dzeko?

I dont rate him as a top striker, he looks great on MOTD because they bring him on and he scores a couple but his general play is poor. Ask most City fans and they wouldnt be sad to see him go and i think that says alot. Good player but not great, in my opinion. Step up from what weve got however

I think after Ibra, Suarez and Ageuro, there are cases for against the others, so really its those 3 that are the A+ strikers. Ibras age goes against him, so i think theres a group of 2 who are out there on their own as the best

Not really impressed by him over the two legs.

Didn't see him dominate with his physicality like I would have hoped. That might be ok against straw defenders in Spain but it won't cut it here.

Cavani did nothing against us in either game at PSG though. Suarez does nothing in the big games. Doesn't mean anything really. We already do well enough in the big games

Right. It's all relative. That's why I prefer to discuss attributes and skills of potential signings. Costa is not absolutely top notch. Certainly not as good as Falcao. But he gives you work rate, he holds the ball up well and made a few dangerous runs which never paid off - one of those players who don't excel at any in particular. I'm not his biggest fan but I think he would get 20+ goals a season for us. Unfortunately I think we're priced out of any elite striker transfer but no doubt the club have a list and the likes of Costa and Benzema are on it.

Is so depressing that we can't even find a striker we want let alone get them easily. Whoever we get now will be best of an average group and its going to cost us a lot of money for who knows what returns. We missed our chance last summer, Jose pinned all his hopes on Rooney (who I never wanted) and let falcao and Cavani make their moves without any fight. I think we have to go all out this year on strikers and go for costa and lukaku then find the money for another striker Higuain, Dzeko, Manduzkic, I couldn't care less if we ruin someone's career, if they're unhappy and we have to sell them on next summer, if we have 3 potentially good strikers we should gamble and hope at least one turns out successful

Falcao is a disaster waiting to happen.

He's getting on in his years, he's coming back from a major injury, and he's untested in a serious league.

Yeah, say what you want about La Liga but the Premier League is more intense by some margin.

Rooney can go f**k himself.

Used us to get a better deal at United and he'll probably come knocking on our door again once Louis van Gaal arrives and Robin van Persie usurps him. If he does we can slam the door on him. No way in hell are we triggering any release clause in that new contract of his.

Costa is a c**t, but that's what we need.

He's my first go-to option. Might be difficult to prize away from Atletico given all that's happened this season. Then there's the matter concerning Courtois. If they win La Liga and/or the Champion's League then Atletico have patched a huge hole in their finances and may want Courtois involved in any potential deal.

Cavani is a good option.

He's my second option. Physically strong, proven in multiple leagues, and will scare the sh*t out of defenders. I fear that any deal involving Cavani will also involve Oscar. Is that a sacrifice worth making considering we've already sold Mata?

Lukaku is coming back and getting first-time games no matter what.

Selling off Lukaku would be idiotic. If that means we need to adapt our formation to accommodate two strikers then so be it.

LOL people here are criminally underrating Mandzukic a lot. He's probably the best striker in the bundesliga from 2 years.
He's lethal, he's fast, he's strong he has excellent technique and is a aeriel threat. I think he can fit in our team for counter attacks remember the United equaliser?.
Plus he would just cost around 20millions pounds. I'd anyday take him.

Or my first choice is Edinson Cavani this guy is a beast. I know he has been ordinary against us in both legs etc.
But he doesn't need to be good against us to be a good striker. Remember Torres was a nightmare for us and now you know who he IS!

On a side point, we have struggled against the bottom teams this season, where as liverpool and city have found it easier scoring goals against them.

Maybe it we should go 442 in those games, especially if we manage to bring in a quality centre mid to pair with matic.

willian (new cm) matic hazard

(new cf) lukaku

Now that makes no sense, Dzeko is worse than Costa.

Maybe to you but not to me.

If Mandzukic is so good why didnt Pep start him away at Old Trafford? why are they signing Lewandowski?. I would take Remy over him just as good and cheaper.

Contradiction at it's finest. You say falcoa is untested in a serious league. You then go on to say you want costa and he is exactly what we need. Errrrm what league has he been playing in? The difference is falcoa has had a few great years in that league and costa has only had one!

Oh and I think it says it all when most people who want costa have there main reason as " because he's a c**t". We don't need a c**t we need a goal scorer

If Mandzukic is so good why didnt Pep start him away at Old Trafford? why are they signing Lewandowski?. I would take Remy over him just as good and cheaper.

Because Lewandowski is better than him. But Mandzukic is alot better than Remy.

And for your answer why he didnt started against ManU. Well Pep can go on and play a full season without any striker he just doesn't need em' in the tiki-taka game play I feel. And Mandzukic started both the games against Real Madrid. I'd anyday take him.

But Cavani should be our first choice.

Dont Bayen want Remy? i think he was linked with them the other day.

Costa would be ideal, his attitude makes me want him even more. He is suited to a counter-attacking style of play and works extremely hard. Sounds like a Mourinho type striker to me.

So pray Falcao comes back fully fit, because he is one striker that has tore us a new one, him and lukaku awsome, could see Monaco may want one of our stars, any but Azpi and Hazard...

Does anyone remember a few months ago, a young striker (around 20) scored a hat trick in Italy? Think it was for or against juventus?

Berardi, scored it against AC Milan. I dont know which club he played for but he was on loan from Juve
