Didier Drogba Returns!

Featured Replies

Could turn out to be a Mourinho master stroke. Drog's assists are not often mentioned, but he has the sweetest feet of any striker I've ever seen, and his crossing is second to none. Hopefully he won't be our corner taker again though-whose idea was that FFS?

Selected quotes from John Terry on Didier Drogba:

"Didier's still the same. He's been a nightmare to play against in training. He's still strong, sharp and hungry."

"It's important Didier is here because he brings that mentality of wanting to win every day. That rubs off on people like Kurt Zouma and the other young players."

And more generally:

"It's time for these players to continue to keep winning trophies for this club and keep the fans and owner happy. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd be impressed from what I have seen so far from Diego, Cesc, Filipe and all the boys that have come in like Kurt as well."

How the hell has Pizarro scored that many goals in Europe?

Sheva actually hit 9 goals in the CL that season (and 19 in Serie A) which made his demise all the more puzzling

Sheva from memory had some really wonderful close ball control skills, he just lacked the pace to keep up with the play in England.

But he was still far better than Torres has been for us (sorry Nando)

He also brings a defensive capability, he is a fantastic headers of the ball when defending set pieces.

Here Here Zola. Blokes a legend and still got lots to give.

He is a legend and will be handy to have around but I really don't see him playing much of a part. I see his position as similar to Lamps at Man City and he'll get minutes when called upon but don't expect to see too much of him.

Agreed, he will certainly be a bit part player. Though if we need goals I've a feeling José would rather put him on than torres alongside Costa, it could work well as a partnership.

Yeah Drogba won't be seen very much IMO unless Costa get's an injury or suspended.

When I saw him last year he looked a far cry from the Drog we had before which is understandable for a man reaching 37 years of age.

I'd rather him than Torres though although that doesn't say very much these days.

I think Drogba will surprise a lot of people with how much gas he has left in the tank.

Hmm not going by what I seen last year and English football is much quicker than the Turkish league.

Based off the game against us? Well we are the best defence in the league.

No.

The game against us their entire team were pretty poor.

I'm talking in the league.

I'd still take him over Torres but in a title race and CL season we need more than a 36 year old striker as back up.

You cant judge him on the game against us!

It was like a testimonial for him... he was laughing and joking throughtout the whole game.

If he manages to get us an extra 10 goals i think eveyrone will be pleased and to be fair its more on what he will bring to the dressing room and it looks like he will be joining the coahing team after this season.

That's a bonus but I always thought this was the case otherwise we wouldn't have brought him in.
