Zola
http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3831557/title/two-friendlies-announced TWO FRIENDLIES ANNOUNCED Posted on: Wed 14 May 2014 Chelsea Football Club is pleased to announce our first two fixtures of the summer, with pre-season games against Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon confirmed. A Chelsea XI, comprising a mixture of first-team and Academy players, will travel to League Two Wycombe's Adams Park on Wednesday 16 July for Matt Bloomfield's testimonial. The game will kick-off at 7.45pm to celebrate Bloomfield's career with the Chairboys, which started in December 2003. The former Ipswich Town trainee has gone on to make more than 300 appearances for Gareth Ainsworth's side. Our second fixture, with a similar squad due to senior players being on World Cup duty, will take place three days later at 3pm on Saturday 19 July at the Cherry Red Records Stadium, formerly known as Kingsmeadow, home of AFC Wimbledon and Kingstonian. AFC finished last season two places above Wycombe in 20th position in League Two, and are managed by former Wimbledon player Neal Ardley. Ticket details for both matches will be announced in due course, while they will also be shown live on Chelsea TV
Kage
I wonder if they'll be doing any tours abroad this preseason?
Izanagi
I wonder if they'll be doing any tours abroad this preseason? Would be nice to do a European tour. Another trip to Japan or south-east Asia would be neat but I'm not sure the squad would appreciate that before the new season.
Kage
Would be nice to do a European tour. Another trip to Japan or south-east Asia would be neat but I'm not sure the squad would appreciate that before the new season. I am kind of thinking that if there were a year they don't do a tour abroad it would be this year with the world cup and all that. With many of our players going to Brazil I doubt the club will want to wear them out with even more travel before the season starts.
spadefx
The world cup probably rules out any international tours, but I wouldn't be surprised if a couple 'blockbuster' friendlies are arranged in a couple of richer corners of the Earth. Pre-season's very much about the money these days, all the big clubs will be entertaining the highest bidder.

enigma
A pre-season tour to Africa would be nice, especially seeing as we probably have a lot of fanaticos there too. Edited May 14, 2014 by enigma

Boyne
We haven't had a friendly at home for years. Think the last friendly at home was in August 2006 when we played Celtic. There was trouble after the game.
BromleyBlue
Think the last friendly at home was in August 2006 when we played Celtic. There was trouble after the game. Is that the reason we haven't played a friendly at home since?
Barn
Think the last friendly at home was in August 2006 when we played Celtic. There was trouble after the game. and before the game, and during the game!!!
Zeta
What with the world cup, i suspect we'll just play domestic friendlies. certainly can't see us going on a tour of anywhere.
Boyne
Is that the reason we haven't played a friendly at home since? Can't recall the club saying that there wouldn't be any more home friendlies because of what happend against Celtic. Anyone know differently? AnIrishTrueBlue
No home friendlies because the match fee and merchandising in going abroad exceeds the benefit of playing at home.
londonblue
and our groundsmen are keen to keep the pitch in good condition
Valerie
Think the last friendly at home was in August 2006 when we played Celtic. There was trouble after the game. I remember. A bunch of us old timers on this forum picked that match for a piss up, and we all dived under a table in the Pelican when police on horses charged through the street, going after a group of Celtic supporters. We didn't spill a drop though and went on drinking under that table :-)
startedwithglenn
I'm already looking forward to pre season. Excited to see a lot of the youngsters and loanees involved in the early parts due to so many of the senior players at the world cup.
Carshalton Blue
We're also playing Sutton Utd again Saturday July 12th. And we're definitely playing a few games away in Europe.

Zeta
Better hope we don't go on tour to Asia or something then, or they'll all be on at 2AM.
ForeverCarefree
We will take on RZ Pellets WAC, NK Olimpija Ljubljana, Vitesse Arnhem and Werder Bremen - in Austria, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Germany - with Jose Mourinho's squad set to embark on a continental training camp ahead of the new season. http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3883980/title/four-european-pre-season-dates-announced

ForeverCarefree
I'm still surprised how much the squad moves around during a pre-season. Surely being on the move every 4 days isn't the best preparation.
