HD remakes

As this now seems to be a thing, old games being remade on new systems I was wondering what games everyone would love to see given a face lift for the new consoles.

I would love to see half life 1 and 2 redone, x-wing vs tie fighter, planescape, speedball 2, and of course baldurs gate.

If you have a steam account, there is a Enhanced version of both Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 :good2: . Also, I believe someone did a mod for HL2 to enhance the graphics.

As for my games of choice, Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault, Grand Prix 2 and C&C Red Alert 2.

There's not much enhanced about them though. Ok, BG1EE has the BG2 rules, engine and improvement which is nice. The higher resolution graphs are good but they were a bare minimum to produce an enhanced version (imagine playing on a 24" monitor in 800x600). However that's about it. Overhaul games tries to copy Black Isle's writing style but mostly fails to produce a similar quality. The added NPCs are a bit general and boring, they mostly feel like some test versions for the BG3 Overhaul Games is planning.

For anyone who liked the original BG games I'd suggest to check out Pillars of Eternity developed by Obsidian who are mainly old Black Isle staff. There is no big studio in the background to mess up the game, they gathered the funds on Kickstarter.

And for fans of Planescape there's Torment: Tides of Numenera, which also gets the backing from Kickstarter.

Cheers undertow, I'll check them out now I have a new laptop capable of playing something more resource hungry than manic minor, unlike the last one I had.

You have plenty of time, Pillars of Eternity is scheduled (at the moment :)) to be released at the end of the year, and Torment sometime next year. I have both pre-purchased (is there a nerd smiley?).

Could you please allow adverts on this domain by switching it off. Some of the advert banners can actually be closed to avoid interferance of your experience on The Shed End.

Cheers now!
