September 15, 201411 yr Major Blimp sounds like a character from a bad Ealing comedy. If you were referring to Colonel Blimp I vehemently protest. A masterful film - certainly in the top 5 of all British films ever made & as for Blimp himself...well...sacrilege: as none other than David Mamet (being one of the greatest scriptwriters of any era) has said: "My idea of perfection is Roger Livesey (my favourite actor) in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (my favourite film) about to fight Anton Walbrook (my other favourite actor)." To me - and in a 3 way tie, it vies with Kind Heats & Coronets (an Ealing comedy no less) & Don't Look Now, as the greatest British films ever made.
September 16, 201411 yr Sage, Are you aware that the season is 38 games long? And that we are only 4 games into the season?Me thinks Jose would not share your blind enthusiasm.
September 16, 201411 yr A masterful film - certainly in the top 5 of all British films ever made Clive Candy is a brilliant creation and the film is flawless. I find the story of Candy's love for the characters played by Kerr, and his decency and sense of duty, very moving. It's hard to select one scene over others but the scenes in the Berlin restaurant and that where Candy tries to contact Kretschmer-Schuldorff (sic) at the POW camp are brilliant. Way off topic! :-)
September 16, 201411 yr ^ Yes. Candy possibly represents the greatest & quintessential Englishman ever portrayed on celluloid & it is Deborah Kerr at her most comely (drool). To keep it topical for our footballing brethren there's even a small Chelsian moment - from memory about 1.42 minutes into the film where Blimp is standing outside his house in Chelsea & a chelsea pensioner in full regalia walks along the footpath. Magic.
September 16, 201411 yr The biggest problem I have that by sheer luck LvG is going to have Di Maria in central positions where he is a deadly player.
September 16, 201411 yr As I said before they've won the league before with only 4 points at this stage, writing them off is stupid. utd were a much better team with a much better manager back then.
September 16, 201411 yr Jonty, Are you aware Chelsea is playing the best football in years? An awesome attacking football, scoring goals 15 in 4 games. I like that. Much better than those 1 zip games. I believe in the team.

In the end you get the same number of points, so if we win every game 1 zip from here on out I'm not complaining. There is something far more secure about a 1 nil than a 6-3 where it looked like the other team could equalise multiple before we actually pulled ahead. Edited September 16, 201411 yr by Stim

Haha I'm sure he was watching Real last season too, plus I think this is the exact role he used to play for Benfica in their diamond around 2010 (i.e. when Ramires/Luiz/Javi Garcia/Coentrao were still there).
September 16, 201411 yr Stim, I would rather see 4 to 2 games than a nerve wrecking 1 zip. A great deal more entertaining than a low scoring game.

Do you remember the character from The Beezer Colonel Blink.http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=colonel+blink&client=firefox-a&hs=7IV&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&biw=1525&bih=677&tbm=isch&imgil=OLVMqUjw7DDR3M%253A%253BfemnS2BspnAdvM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.comicvine.com%25252Fcolonel-blink%25252F4005-72636%25252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=OLVMqUjw7DDR3M%253A%252CfemnS2BspnAdvM%252C_&usg=__sVyIivMJHKIZOrxCKLMmV054en8%3D&dpr=0.9 Edited September 16, 201411 yr by bazzablue
September 16, 201411 yr Yes your right. Do you remember the character from The Beezer Colonel Blink. No I wasn't actually but thx for providing that. Ah comics...those were the days.

Much better than those 1 zip games. I believe in the team. yes it reminds me of when Liverpool won something like 12 consecutive games last season, or when City thrashed every team in their path at the start of the season before last. your cockiness is aggravating and makes you sound like a glory hunter.
September 16, 201411 yr Jonty, Whatever you feel about me is irrelevant to me. If you don't wish it, don't read it. It preserves us from arguments.

September 16, 201411 yr Apparently Liverpool have spent in excess of 400M since the last time they were in the Champions League.
September 16, 201411 yr Barn, Do you like to be called a glory hunter? Are you Red and white in disguise.
September 16, 201411 yr So I don't know what a Ludogorets Razgrad is but I am the biggest supporter of it today. Anybody want to hazard a few guesses on what we should expect from Champions League Day 1? Juventus v Malmo FF - Suspect Juventus to be pretty comfortable in this one. 4-1 or 5-1? Olympiakos v Atletico Madrid - Should be a good one. Madrid is playing well so far this season. I could see this one being closer. Maybe 2-1 or 2-0. Liverpool v Ludogorets Razgrad - I can only see a Ludogorets win here! Hopefully 8-0 to the visitors but probably a comfortable Liverpool win. Real Madrid v FC Basel - Madrid haven't started well so far this season so I could see them trying to prove a point with a thrashing. Basel are no slouches though so it may be close 2-1 or 3-1. AS Monaco v Bayer Leverkusen - I have no idea what to expect from this one. I can't imagine Monaco is playing all that well since they lost their 2 best players over the summer so I am going with a Bayer win. Benfica v Zenit St. Petersburg - Benfica win but again haven't watched either team this season so not really sure what to expect. Dortmund v Arsenal - Can actually see Arsenal coming out with a win. Injuries all over the place for both sides but Alex Sanchez has been playing well so far and I expect he will exploit any frailties in the Dortmund back line. Galatasaray v Anderlect - A win for the turks at home. 2-0.
September 16, 201411 yr Adrian Durham on Talksport is saying Liverpool have the best atmosphere of any club in European football matches. Rubbish, they go silent when they concede a goal. Dortmund have a better atmosphere than them.
September 16, 201411 yr I loved it when Colonel Blink went to post a letter, and there was a lady in a red dress and hat standing in the street...(I don't think I need to tell you what happened next dear readers)

September 16, 201411 yr Heard a dippers fan on talksport today talking about how Liverpool have given the world the greatest European atmosphere, the greatest final and stated that it took Jose three attempts to beat them in European competition. They are hilariously delusional!
September 16, 201411 yr I hope city go far in the ucl so that they will be less focused on the league As we all know arsenal will be out come Feb/Mar lol
