Funny how Anfield starts with a roar and by 15 mins they are quiet until they score, on another note Coutinho looks good...would you exchange him for Cech?

Cech's boots maybe.

Gylfi Sigurdsson needs to be snapped up by a Champions League side ,  Really rate the guy.

He's a quality player

However, I could not see him at a BPL top 4 side

I recall his recent spell at Spurs and even though he was playing out of position, he just wasn't the same

Looks like a sort of player where you have to build the whole team around

Sezze786, I'm not sure you can judge Sigurdsson on his spell at the Lane, He was there during the AVB reign and to be honest players like Eriksson, Chadli, Lamela all were looking dog sh*t, For me Sigurdsson is a player who would flourish if he was at clubs such as Atletico, Roma, Dortmund etc.

I think he could play for a top European side not Barca or Real but other teams

**I forgot Dortmund won't be a Champions League side next year, What I meant was he would fit right into some teams who are dark horses for the Champions League, Having said that since when were we shopping in the harrods section of Champions League football, We're dark horses, I'd love him at City but I've already had numerous arguments on blue moon with fellow Citizens who think he is a tad too Icelandish for our side, I got gang mobbed on there for even suggesting him as a possible transfer target.

The point I was trying to make was that I could not see him playing regularly at:

Chelsea

City

Arsenal

(current teams in UCL from the BPL)

He is a quality player and I agree with your post with the exception of maybe Eriksen

Southampton have a better record and they have only just recently been promoted, the difference being they have had good managers. Certainly not players because Newcastle have had (and still do) some quality players during Pardew's tenture.

Pardew hasn't done alright for me, he's been poor baring that one season where his players were playing well despite sh*t tactics. It's not unrealistic to want a manager that can push for Europe along with the likes of Everton with the squad they have, it's not unrealistic to want a manager who can consistently finish above teams like Stoke.

As Southampton and Swansea have shown, if you do your homework instead of relying on the same old tried and tested Warnock's, Bruce's, etc you'll get pretty far. Doubt they would win trophies and such, simply cause they don't have the financial power to do so, but they can do better than Pardew, that's for sure.

Southampton have a better owner and better players coming out of their academy in the last few years. That is helping a lot. Do you really think Newcastle can do better than they are just by changing the manager ? it's not going to happen. The manager of the club isn't the problem, it's the board.

I wouldn't swap Cech for a single Liverpool player. Even if Liverpool had the best player in the world playing for their team i still wouldn't give them Cech because i don't want to see him playing for that club.

Watch your backs Chelsea, Liverpool will be making their late season surge again this year but only this year they won't let it f**king slip, They won't allow you rent boys to stop them from winning the title two years running.

Lovely player

But would be interested to see if he would play a squad role with the likes of:

Lampard

Milner

Nasri

Navas

Silva

Toure

Would fit into City and Arsenal's type of play though

Love your admiration however if we were to imagine Ronaldo/Messi were playing for Liverpool and and by some miracle they offered him for Cech (who is a back-up keeper now) you wouldn't swap him?

The board have backed him all the way, there have been issues but nothing that should be making him look over his shoulder in fear of losing his job.

Blaming the board is the easy way out and implies he's done nothing wrong which is false, they have supplied him with quality players and he has failed to use them properly due to his horrible tactics.

Things could have been so different if we beat Sunderland at home last season.
