January 1, 201511 yr BBC just announced that Frank has extended his loan to City until the end of the season. Lot of folk here aren't going to be happy!I just don't get how this sits with FFP; it's a huge loophole surely? What's to prevent other clubs doing the same (i.e. Barcelona)?Edit: it must be on the level legally. You can bet that City's lawyers will have been all over the contracts, FFP rules, etc. Edited January 1, 201511 yr by Spudulike

All you have to do is own a club in a different part of the world, buy whoever you want through that club and then loan them to the parent club. I can't see what uefa can do about it. Happy New Year Spud (apart from this evening of course) ;-)

January 1, 201511 yr What actually are the rules regarding wages whilst on loan? I think (please correct if wrong) that the lending club (i.e. NYC in Lampard's case) will pay the wages that Lampard was contracted to receive from them. City might be asked to make a contribution but, in this case that's a dead issue given the shared owner. I don't know whether Lampard could receive MORE than he is contracted to receive from NYC.

If not, they can spend as much as they like, and just lend them to City for nothing. The reports from USA that he's actually contracted to City with a loan to NYC, aren't what was publicised, and appears dodgy as hell. Not happy. Edited January 1, 201511 yr by NorthernMonkey
January 1, 201511 yr They mentioned that point on Radio 5 just now: apparently, Lampard has never been off City's books and a formal loan was not agreed. I didn't follow it (i.e. comprehend it) so I'm hoping they recap. Whatever else happens, he probably can't go to NYC ever. His name'll be mud.
January 1, 201511 yr Just said this in the other thread, but frank was never on loan at city. He signed for city and they pay his wages. It appear that he signed a season long deal for city in the first place, which included an option to opt out on 31st December. Otherwise I'm not sure how he can play today if the contract finished yesterday, but the window isn't open until Monday.
January 1, 201511 yr Stoke have scored already. Absolute beasts at home. Imagine if pulis stayed there. Edited January 1, 201511 yr by enigma
January 1, 201511 yr Van Gaal has been taking defensive lessons from Brendan Rodgers. That defending from United was one of the worst pieces of defending i have seen all season.
January 1, 201511 yr Stoke have scored already. Absolute beasts at home. Imagine if pulis stayed there. If he was there i think they would have been relegated by now. I thought he was starting to take them backwards by the end. Even though they finished 13th in his last season they actually only just survived.
January 1, 201511 yr f**king hell, that should really have been 2-0. Diouf did brilliantly to force Evans backwards and then even better to win the ball, but what a woeful finish!
January 1, 201511 yr I am pretty sure Evans got his united contract from the bottom of a cornflakes box.
January 1, 201511 yr If Mourinho was United's boss, Evans would be off by now. He's been absolute sh*te. He's not helping himself by blaming others for his mistakes.
January 1, 201511 yr Stoke will rue that miss by diouf. Utd are applying more pressure and surely we score soon.
January 1, 201511 yr Utd getting all the decisions go their way. That was a handball and the ref was about 10 ft away. Old habits die hard with the refs regarding utd I see. Edited January 1, 201511 yr by enigma
January 1, 201511 yr My god. Jammy feckers utd are. They are another team riding their fortune at thr moment, and the higher powers will do anything to help Utd return to their supposed "rightful" spot.
January 1, 201511 yr Just tuned in and looks like it's been all Stoke at the moment, I feel like they're going to score soon as long as the final balls good
January 1, 201511 yr Gary Neville on Sky is right, De Gea let's the defenders deal with set pieces, and this is why i don't think De Gea is one of the best goalkeepers. His reflexes are spot on, as they should be, he is a goalkeeper after all, but he rarely deals with set pieces. Edited January 1, 201511 yr by Scott Harris
January 1, 201511 yr And they have been so lucky, it's unbelievable. Poor Stoke, they really deserve this win.
