Favourite football kits

Featured Replies

Further to the "Wearing other teams colours" thread, I just wondered what kits people on here like.

For me, the best ever kit was the one worn by Chelsea in the late 60's/early 70's, both home and away (obviously), but there have been plenty of other kits I've liked over the years.

For instance, I always liked Southampton's strip of red & white stripes, black shorts, red & white socks, back when the stripes were the same width. I also like the Wolves old gold/black, though they played in all old gold when I was a kid. Hull's gold & black stripes has always looked smart too. Newcastle's famous black & white was always one of my favourites too.

Crystal Palace used to wear shirts with wide claret stripes and narrow light blue, with yellow/gold trim. Forfar wore green & white stripes, and another Scottish club wore green & black stripes, can't remember who though.

Overseas, the Ajax kit has always looked great, as has Feyenoord's, and I always loved Inter's strip.

How about you lot?

ive always quite like the Croatia ones, and i got a few old american ones from the Pele, beckenbaur era. I always wanted one from FC w**ka though....

This is not very specific but I've always quite liked the claret and blue colour scheme used by the likes of Aston Villa (almost typed West Ham there before I came to my senses). Crystal Palace have a similar colour scheme only with stripes and a darker shade of blue, which I also think is quite nice. Their home kit for next season looks pretty good:

I quite like Watford's yellow/black combination too, same with Wolves. It seems my tastes is pretty similar to Bluebeard's except my memory only really stretches back to the 90s.

Our kit of the early seventies. Also the Scotland kit of the mid seventies. Do like the German kit from this year's World Cup.

The yellow and blue one?

Loved that one.

That's the one. Lost a bit of appeal when the stuck autoglass on it the following season. Lovely colour scheme and Coors was lovely on it.

That was the 2nd kit I ever owned, I remember seeing it in the match day programme modelled by Eddie Newton I think it was.

My old man liked it straight away too which is why I think he bought it for me.

Probably why I like this seasons return to yellow so much.

Yeah I love yellow in the away jersey. The different shades of blue in it was stunning. Much prefer umbro stuff then addidas

I seem to always like Porto's kit with the blue and white vertical stripes and I also like Sporting's green and white horizontal stripes.

Some of the goalkeeping kits in the 1990s were classic, I remember this Newcastle jersey that Shaka Hislop wore in 1996(?) I thought it was pretty unique and cool that it had the Newcastle skyline. _______1850418_orig.jpg

This might be up for the best of the worst kit ever. Apparently Spanish second division side Cultural y Deportivo Leonesa is wearing these this year: 140731095624-tuxedo-team-kit-horizontal-

And finally, this Parma jersey where the names of season ticket holders were sewn into the jersey. That is a pretty awesome move by the club/Errea:

That's one I like too but I will admit to owning their slightly later kit of white with thick vertical claret and blue band but not the one with the small white gap between.  It was a c**t to get over your head though and hurt my ears.

Argentina is another I like.

But the award has to go to Dulwich Hamlet.

Our white adidas away kit 2006-2007 and with a slight design change also in 2007/08

Just checked it was our 3rd kit !

Our umbro strips from 1975-81 then the classic Le Coq Sportif strips from 1981/82 -1985/86.

Our current away kit is probably my all-time favourite kit. Always loved yellow kits, and before this year my favourite kit of ours was probably the 08/09 FA Cup Final winning yellow kit. It's even nicer this time around though.

That newcastle goalie kit that Butterhampton posted looks absolutely bonkers, I wish that kind of style was present in today's football.

Some that pop into my mind right now.
