Chelsea vs PSG (Champions League Second Leg) 11/03/2015

Featured Replies

What the f**k are you on about? We're in a great position to win the league but need to be at our best.

Don't worry sonny, we can still get you that commemorative shirt at the end of the season. You can Instagram it and everything.

come to the shed and give it me? cheers! were u there tonight?

yeah who said oscar or willian were the next ukin ronaldo or messi? jjjeesssussss

they will never be in that bracket they are great players, i could have carried on, neuer and lehmann are two good examples, lehmann on his day was just as capable as neuer, but never consistent enough, neuer is consistent week in week out, oscar and co you just don't know which one will turn up and put a performance in. at the end of the day we played 90 mins, at home against 10 men and still could only draw.

then maybe i was surronded by psg spies because no one was that bothered mate.

Bothered that we got knocked out? Everyone I saw seemed pretty fed up to be honest but it's nice you've found like-minded people to share a matchday experience with.

I guess, in final thoughts about tonight's game, for every Cinderella story out there, as our games against Napoli, Barca and Bayern were in 2012, there are some ugly sisters out there too.

Even go back to the same two sides that year. PSG had us where they wanted us, a 3-1 advantage that a side with their quality should have seen out. But we dared to Demba and that was a wonderful moment for us. Sometimes it is just not meant to be our turn, and to really enjoy the great victories you have suffer through the crushing defeats.

Today was not crushing so much for me as disappointing. It ended up being PSG's turn, they played away to the side top of the PL and were down to 10 men from the 31st minute and they fought back twice to get through, beating us at our own game.

Today they were Cinderella, we will have our turn again :)

Nice perspective, just to add a little something...we won our first league title 10 years ago and prior to that we've simply enjoyed top flight football and any scalp we could get. Champions league success is a privilege not a right and this time we missed out. As supporters we should look for positives and "support" the club instead of being negative. Thats what Arsenal do...leave that sh*t to them!

Was a pathetic performance....but not nearly as embarrassing as Bradford.

Once we conceded to take it to ET, I knew we'd lose....it's just one of those things.

Personally I hate the away goals rule in ET. An extra 30 minutes to score another goal is harsh. I think if the second game goes to 120min and it's still even it should be penalties.

But whatever, we deserved to go out in the latest disappointing CL effort.

We were chasing shadows at home against 10 men.

We deserved everything we got.

We didn't know whether to stick or twist, whereas they knew what they had to do.

We needed to be bolder and braver and better.

Jose has reverted to his default position the more the season has progressed, i.e. he has gone defensive.

Southampton is a massive game now.

Bitterly disappointing loss tonight but I never thought we were good enough to win the CL this year.

There is room for improvement in this Chelsea side, and there is room for improvement in Jose too.

We should worry less about the referee, worry less about the other team, and start playing football.

In my humble opinion.

We had one - a REALLY f**king good one at that. Mata should never have been sold. Jose let Mata go because he wasn't quick enough, couldn't tackle and wouldn't track back often enough. He then signs Fabregas, someone who has all of the same flaws. Doesn't make sense to me.

We should sell Ramires and either Oscar or Willian, and try to sign Pogba. Play Matic and Pogba centre mid, then push Cesc into the number 10 slot IMO.

Jose doesn't make sense to me.mata is a far better player than fabregas,in a similar role.unfortunately mata has been sent to Siberia in footballing terms.utd.

We clearly set up to play for 0-0. Once the ref inexplicably sent off Ibrahimovic we just didn't seem to know how to react. So we did nothing. Our attitude was we could contain them better now they were playing with only ten men. Clearly we'd spent a week practising to contain them, sneak a 0-0, not try and actually do anything drastic like take the game to them.

From the way we were strolling around you could tell we were happy to try and scrape through 0-0.

Then Cahill went and scored and it was all downhill from there. Hopefully Cahill will get a right bollocking for messing up Jose's masterplan.

That was part of my frustration tonight. Question is who do we bring in? Who goes alongside Hazard? If you leave out Willian, Oscar and Ramires, who forms our midfield with Cesc, Matic and Hazard?

Well for the rest of the season i guess we are just going to have to stick by them and hope for the best. Hopefully Cuadrado can step up and make that RW position his permanently. Ramires should just be left out of the team or should be on the bench and i think we are going to have to continue with Oscar and hope it works out. We don't really have anyone else who can play in Oscar's position and be any more effective than he is.

Hopefully in the summer we can find another ACM who isn't so sloppy going forward and CM that can take Ramires place, i just don't think Ramires is a good enough footballer. I don't want us to sell Oscar though, he does have talent, but i don't think we will see the best of him until he reaches his peak years.

We'll probably go on to stroll the Premiership against all the other underperforming apathetic sloppy English sides this season and then be surprised when we get knocked out of Europe next season as we thought winning the Premiership meant we were almost the greatest side that ever existed.

Do not disagree with anything you said Davey, but even if we went through tonight the Saints game was still a big one. This coming weekend is a big one. Imo it could be a decisive one in the title race.

Can Burnley do City again, if they do how do we respond? If they do not again how do we respond? Anything other than 3 points, especially after today's performances, and the sharks will smell blood.

Agreed. Only reason I wanted Oscar off at half time was I feared him being sent off. He was not good first half but would still have more to offer than Ramires imo. In the end though it was a mistake taking him off.

Only other option I could see us trying is giving Hazard the freedom of the number 10 role and putting Cuadrado and Willian out wide.

Compared to Hazard I agree Willian and Oscar look below par but if you look at their stats they have done a good job for us this season. Both are young lads competing in the best league in the world for a club challenging for the title.

With respect, I think you would find it difficult to replace both these lads with the same quality and remain within financial fair play regulations.

Oscar's stats ain't that great this season, he started well again but he soon faded. Willian's are shocking for a RW that is in a side challenging for tites. He has 8 goals and 11 assists in 83 games for us.

It's not just the stats we should be focusing on though, it's the overall play. They lose the ball so much and are very ineffective most games. So many miss place passes, so many poor touches of the ball. It shouldn't happen as often as it does.

I think it would be pretty easy to replace Willian and remain within financial fair play regulations. Hopefully we have already done that with Cuadrado. I could quite easily come up with 20 better RW's than Willian.

I also don't think they are playing in the best league in the world. A few years ago the Premier League was the best but how can we be the best league in the world when our sides have been so poor in Europe in the last couple of years ?

Well only ready to comment now after a truly shocking night...think Jose has learnt a lot about some players, well I hope so, that they're just not good enough at this level...I'm talking people like Oscar and Ramires here...with Fabregas and Costa off the boil, we look like the team of last season, relying on Hazard too much to make the difference and scraping results...what worried me is like the Bradford game, the team lost the plot...they panicked, when all the chips were in their favour...as Jose said, many players seemed to lose it mentally, couldn't cope with the pressure...even the normally reliable Jt fcuked up for the decisive goal...

I never thought we'd win the cl this season...we don't have the same ability to defend as we did three years ago when we won it, even though we have more technical players now...what is a must though is we go on to win the league...otherwise I fear roman might get trigger happy again...Jose was not brought back to win a league cup, go out of two cup comps at home and blow a lead in title race...he's shown what some shrewd selling and buying can do to improve the squad and reckon another window will help iron out some more flaws

Dont know what i watched last night, but i am glad its over. No excuses now, just go on and win the BPL. Up the blues!!!!

so how many cl games will zlatan be suspended for?

hoping they got drawn against bayern and pull an upset so we can save a bit of face

unlike the bradford game, can't say i'm too gutted

honestly after we got drawn with psg i kinda hoped that we do not get through, because we just can't win the cl this year no point in investing all those energy when we are not good enough to win it and watching yesterday's performance solidify it, that we're just not on par with the likes of bayern, real, and barca

it's a blessing in disguise really with city knocking on the door every week

just hoped that we don't pull another circus act like today

Conceded on set pieces and didn't actually lose either leg. This end of the world vibe is embarrassing. Now we gotta sell half the squad and any player we did sell has become twice the player in some peoples eyes.

Don't need to sell anyone, need a bigger squad not a smaller one.

This is why Spurs fans are complete f**king assholes.  The photo was captioned "Chelsea fan before and after their match today"

My friend (a Spurs fan) tagged me in this picture on Facebook.  This was even after I didn't give him any crap for us beating them in the COC final.  It makes me smug knowing that we'll be back in the Champions League next season and they'll miss out on all European competition.

jamie carragher's anti Chelsea rant at half time was unbelievable ... and totally unacceptable.

All these Liverpool pundits on Sky are total w**kers.

I had a Man Utd supporting work colleague troll me on text the instant Luiz equalised, and I mean the very instant too.

Some of these idiots have selective memories.
