June 3, 201511 yr He's never been given a proper chance here, hasn't even started 2 games in a row for us. I hope he stays next season and finally show's what he's got.

June 10, 201511 yr Meh sick of the loans, just sell him if we don't want him. Agreed. Loan deals should only be for youngsters to gain experience. A 27 year old shouldn't be going out on loan. f**k, if they have him on loan, we know they'll only send him back once they've seen him play!

Loans are also about increasing the value of an asset by allowing them to show their worth in a competitive environment. How much has his value dropped in just 6 months? Now we could keep him on and maybe hope he fits in better or we loan him somewhere he's had success recently and where he's likely to play so that he can increase in value again. sh*t situation all round and a horribly misused player.
June 10, 201511 yr As long as its a loan deal with a buy clause at the end of it I suppose its sort of acceptable.
June 10, 201511 yr Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset are reporting Inter Milan are close to agreeing a loan deal with a view to a permanent deal for Cuadrado. Who will be paying his wages?
June 10, 201511 yr Author Who will be paying his wages? Report didn't say but knowing Chelsea we'll still be picking up the tab for the majority of his pay.
June 10, 201511 yr Valencia loaned Negredo and HAD to buy him for the clause - we should do the same. Essentially allows the club time to raise the money whilst using the asset
June 10, 201511 yr Too old for a loan to buy option go be worth while. He's going to be 29 when the loan expires, even if he does well I can't see him going for over 15m. It's different from the salah situation as he was young and still had his best years ahead of him, so a loan could really up his value. If we don't want him, it should be a straight sale of anything over 20m. If not we keep him and give a chance to answer his critics.

I agree, we should just sell to the highest bidder if we don't want him. No point paying the majority of his wages when he isn't here playing.
June 10, 201511 yr Stupid signing anyway. Hardly anybody thought he was good enough for us when we were first interested in him so i'm not surprised it's turned out this way. The money we got for Schurrle was a complete waste.

I disagree with that first statement because if there are no suitors and the club are ready to move on then it may well be financially better for us to loan him, allow his value to increase whilst having another club pay his wages and possibly even a loan fee. It all depends on what the club has planned for that right-wing though. What's frustrating is that the 4th, 5th and 6th most expensive players next season could well be Willian, Luis and Cuadrado. If each of them were Jose purchases then maybe he needs a little reigning in on future transfer matters.

If he does well in Italy, what price do you think an Italian club would be willing to pay? I can't see any big club putting big money up for him after he has been deemed a failure at the highest level and loaned out for a year. I think we could get around 20m for him now, this time next year I can't see us getting over 17/18m. There's also a good chance that he his confidence has took a real hit and he might have a poor season on loan. Then we would be trying to get rid of a 28 yr old on big wages, who has failed at a big club. Not to mention we will most probably be subsidising his wages while on loan. It's sell or keep for me.

You have a point. That's the problem with signing players like this at his age and I think it's entirely Jose's doing.
June 10, 201511 yr You have a point. That's the problem with signing players like this at his age and I think it's entirely Jose's doing. It's the nature of the transfer market I suppose. I'm hindsight we probably should kept schurrle and reviewed the situation in the summer. Cuadrado wasn't in the best of form at fiorentina when signed him, so I think if we had hung on, he wouldve been cheaper aswell. Very disappointing we haven't sorted out that right wing spot though still, considering money spent. It doesn't look like there is much available this summer either.
June 10, 201511 yr Realistically there is not a lot out there for the right wing position the only ones I can see improving it are Bale and Greizmann but both look very unlikely. Just baffles me how we let a 22 year old? Salah out on Loan and bought a 27 year old for 26m who is no better.
June 10, 201511 yr my question is would Florentina have sold him to Inter in the summer or have we done a bit of we do this for you if you do this for us with Inter ? ( if he ends up there )..... he looked great on the pitch for us when there were no defenders within 10 yards .... it all went pear shaped when a defender got within breathing distance of him Edited June 10, 201511 yr by Tea Bar Boy
June 11, 201511 yr Going nowhere according to Jose. "Cuadrado is not going anywhere this summer. People don't know Cuadrado yet, I have seen him many times when we were both in Italy, me at Inter and him at Udinese." "Because of that I have a lot of hopes for him for next season. I hope in the Copa America he can regain his self-esteem, his ego and that he has that joy of playing." Makes it sound very much like he was behind the signing too. In a counter-attacking system he could work beautifully (similarly with Falcao) but he might just need to be given a run of games to build that confidence and he never got that last season.
