Actually just realised that it's been the same 4 or 5 posters railing against this deal, slating the club, saying we should've sold him anywhere else or kept him to his contract, etc.

The vast majority seem to be of the same mind that they don't want him to go there but understand why and are moving on, focusing on what WE can do to get better as a club. Really is rather silly to continue arguing as if they're representative of the support in any way, shape or form.

The agreement was apparently to allow him to go wherever he chose if he gave us last season. Any club was a possibility so long as we got a fair price. That's what I've heard from people I trust.

As for the type of fan I am, I'm the type who recognises that a players personal life will take precedence over what a tiny minority of fans might think. I won't say what type of fan I think you are.

Whatever he's owed from us, we're owed as much from him. Irrespective of this invisible huge majority that agrees with you, it's not a good deal for us. I just hope it doesn't seriously backfire. But as you say, pointless to carry on arguing with a tiny minority.

The way Chelsea have handled this has been superb.  Hats off - couldn't be prouder.

 

At the end of the day they valued the stability of a family, especially Cech's kids over a few extra million quid.

Clubs with ambition need a great 2nd keeper.  Understandable that Cech was too good to be a 2nd keeper, but its not like we dont need a great keeper to replace him.

I tend to agree with this sentiment, it really does get tiresome at times. No doubt I will be told there is always the ignore option though.

 

That aside though, my thoughts on this transfer for what they are worth is that we have strengthened a direct title rival for what amounts to peanuts financially. Unless my ears deceived me our Club Captain went on our national sports radio station earlier today and said something along the lines that Petr Cech could be worth 12-15 points to them next season. If memory serves they finished 12 points behind us last season and conceded only 4 more goals.

 

I can understand Cechs reasoning for choosing that option, both on a professional and personal level, but for the life of me I can't understand why our Club has been so accommodating in this deal. We could surely have driven a harder bargain ?
