What TV Show Are You Waarching?

I thought the third Fargo series was the weakest of the three, and MacGregor didn't really convince in the dual role.

It was  missing Billy Bob as well

Another series I was completely wrong about at first is Only Sunny in Philadelphia

I have watched this twice over, maybe even three times. I hope they convince Glenn Howerton to come back as Dennis is in the next season, won’t be the same!

I agree that the 3rd was probably the weakest & that Macgregor over-acted the twins. However, I thought Thewlis was superb as was Winstead.

I don't know if The Terror has been mentioned in his but it's the best thing I've seen for ages. It's based on a book by Dan Simmons that tells the story of a Royal Navy expedition into the Arctic to discover the Northwest Passage, which unsurprisingly doesn't quite go to plan. Great acting, writing, direction, and amazing sound design. I guess it would be classified as 'survival horror' if you need to stick a label on it.

Thinking about starting Mad Men, except I keep putting it off and putting it off. Once I start I'm sure I'll binge watch like crazy and I don't know if I want to binge a show. Anyone in here watch Mad Men? Any thoughts on it? Should I just say f**k it and watch it?

Yeah, it's good. I didn't watch it when it was airing, but watched it on Netflix last year. It wasn't the sort of show that I could start watching and not stop, but that's not to say it wasn't good. It was excellent, but sometimes I felt like I needed a break to watch something a bit lighter.

Dunno what happened recently on our tv package . For two weeks 'Yesterday' channel was unavailable. (Just as well I was working solid !)

However, thankfully, it has now been restored.

Great , more repeats of Time Team !

And also of Porridge.

Virgin or someone said they didn't want to pay to use UKTV channels and UKTV took the channels away :)  Eventually, Virgin or whoever said, OK, here's your £15 for the next five years.#

All the channels were still available on Freeview, anyway

Yeah someone from our family phoned up to ask why and immediately got the package back when they said we said we were going to go to another provider !

The new Michael Palin thing on channel 5 where he visits North Korea is very interesting. Pyongyang even seems quite pleasant in a bizarre way and I wouldn't mind to go there myself, although you definitely get the sense he's being presented with a heavily curated version of the city. The next episode where he heads off into the provinces promises to be a bit more authentic.

I saw Manson: The Lost Tapes on ITV last night.

Theres been countless documentary’s on the Manson family and I had reservations about the latest offering; lost footage of CM and his followers has been unearthed- thought they might “ pad out” what could have been covered in 15 minutes into an hours programming as is the tendency with so many shows, but it moved at a brisk pace and included interviews with former “ family” members 50 years down the line.

Thought it was fascinating. Manson no doubt possessed the same dark charisma as Hitler- how else could he lure followers in, get them  to believe he was Jesus Christ reincarnated. and ultimately have them commit horrible murders.

Would highly recommend- Part 2 next week

I liked on Netflix a show called Atypical it's about an American family sounds like something you would have seen before but it's not it has a really good dialog and even if some characters are maybe very typical for their role it's a good series.
Also found Outlander to be interesting as well and maybe for the most people here it's closer to home since it's about Scotland and England with some time traveling stuff.

Atypical is good, worth mentioning it’s based around the autistic son mind!

Apologies if i missed a thread on this elsewhere but was surprised to see no-one had posted.

So, the big one returned this week to netflix with the second series of making a murderer. I'll try to leave out any spoilers.

The first series left me thinking Steven Avery could be guilty but that the "evidence" gathered and used against him was utter nonsense. I thought it was pretty obvious that the prosecution (and the judge) were criminally incompetent and/or totally corrupt, not mention he started from a position of being guilty until proven innocent due again to the prosecutions actions.  Brenden's case was clearly an absolute travisty of justice, geniunely made my blood boil watching how he was treated  and used by everyone from the investigators, how own lawyer right through to his sentencing.

The second series has now left me at first viewing totally convinced that Steven and Brenden have been set up. So much more evidence in Steven's case that discredits the prosecution, their version of events, the police and brings other people under the spotlight.

Brendens case is pretty much exactly as it was before, an absolute travesty. No sane person without an agenda could ever watch his interrogation and come to the conclusion his "confession" was voluntary and not fed by the investigators

What say you Shedittes? Eager to hear other people's views on this one!

@jack h Yes, I started watching that again the other night. I was convinced the first time that both he and his  rather simple nephew were innocent, and I am even more certain now. Steven is guilty of not being a very attractive personality, and of coming from a "white trash" background. Neither of these is a crime.

P.S. We are Shedenders, not Sheddites!:wife:

Agreed moi, I'm not sure how our legal system differs from the US' which seems open to manipulation but I would hope a case so rife with dodgy goings on couldn't play out like it has if similar events occurred here.

The revelations at the beginning of episode 9 were very intersting in my opinion. SPOILER ALERT! Where the guy contacted the lawyer saying he saw her car a day or two after she disappeared on the side of a road and then told that police guy Coulborn about it? How can they not go further with that? Surely it blows the whole thing open again?

Given how it ended I don't understand or see how this can go further or get better for either of them. If their supreme court refuses to hear their cases (which seems dodgy to me in itself) than what roads are left open to them?

DL it last night, currently watching episode 4.

Will comment again after episode 10.

All the fuss about Bodyguard a few weeks back which I thought was okay but dragged on a bit. Much preferring Killing Eve - really good and Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer are both excellent.

Disliked the ending to the bodyguard as it didn't seem to tie-in with the incident on the train for me.

Jodie Cromer is excellent in killing Eve which has been entertaining so far, if James Bond ever becomes Jane Bond she must be in pole position.
