Started watching Luther, good, a little dark in places...

This is England 86 - Really enjoyed this. Laugh out loud funny at times (the bully character was hilarious) but also surprisingly dark. I like Shane Meadows' films (including the original This Is England) so I don't know why it took so long for me to watch the TV series. Great soundtrack, as you would expect.

Good Shout. Have loved all the This Is England series - really well written and acted and as you say, great soundtrack(s). Along with Mike Leigh, I think Shane Meadows is my favourite writer / director.

 

Did anyone ever see Meantime - a short TV film Leigh did set in the early '80's? Very enjoyable and worth a watch with some good performances from Gary Oldman, Phil Daniels & Tim Roth.

Highly recommended-Perfectly suited to the current Global climate considering the book was written in the 90's.

I'm really enjoying VINYL as the NY pre-punk scene is right up my street.  My only gripe is the band 'The Nasty Bits' who pre-date everything, even down to playing an old Dead Boys song four year before they (the Dead Boys) tuned up in NY from Cleveland in real life.  This is a shame when most of everything else appears to be fairly accurate timeline wise.

people v OJ Simpson - If you can try and look past John Travolta's eyebrows, and David Schwimmer just playing Ross from friends, you might like it.

Making a Murderer - Only watched the first episode so far.

The World at War - a 70's documentary, but a must see if you are interested in history/WW2

House of Cards is back and i love it.

Trapped on BBC iPlayer - seems the only thing worth watching on BBC lately.

Shall try and watch that. The book is very good.

I just finished watching the first series of The Expanse, a new, intelligent Sci-fi based on the series of novels by James Corey. Well written with an interesting story that is told from multiple characters' points of view. I found it a little hard to follow at first but liked it better and better the more episodes I watched.

Absolutely love Netflix releasing the whole Daredevil season already. 

finally got around to watching 'the returned' episode 1, blimey, not much feel good! my temperature dropped about 10 degrees and stayed there !!

Having watched the superb Night Manager 9/10 IMDB threw me The State Within as a recommendation. Missed it first time around personally ,what a gem for those that enjoy political thrillers. 9/10

The walking dead series finale, holy sh*t!

Yup..what an ending. Really can't see how they're going to get out of that. I wonder who died? Can't be any of the main cast surely.

Watched a couple of Teh People Vs OJ.

I've heard lots of good things about The People vs. OJ, I definitely need to watch that.

 

At the moment I'm working my way through the second series of Daredevil. I'm enjoying it more than the first season, mainly thanks the inclusion of The Punisher. I still find 'Foggy' and the girl from True Blood irritatingly twee, and Frink is as hammy as ever, but there's enough good stuff to make up for it. The fight scenes are brilliant, and the one featuring The Punisher in the prison was brutal.

Been watching Jimmy McGoverns Accused via kodi. Some great acting performances capped by Sean Bean playing a transvestite in one of the episodes. 9/10

The Shannara Chronicles; The Expanse

Just finished 11/22/63. Really like the idea of the show and it turned out to be very good imo. I'd give it an 8/10.

 

James Franco is fantastic in it.
