Radamel "the project" Falcao

Featured Replies

He never had much pace or strength just timing thats easier to get back once you learn how your teammates play, he couldn't do it at United because the players behind him were not cohesive i think he will be alright for us but Sunday did look dismal but then so did hazard and we know what he can do

Few nice runs, but starved of service and pretty much anonymous as a result.

And so it begins....

This was a funny quote right here:

The Colombia striker has lost his pace and resembled a man who was dragging a boulder through a field of treacle on the rare occasions when he broke into a run. Chelsea need Costa back.

Written by some one who never watched him play.. He has never been a blistering fast striker..

Can't help feeling there's been a few journos with their "Falcao looks sh*t" articles already penned and they've been looking for the first excuse to publish them.

We're our own worst enemies in the sense that we had Shevchenko and Torres and should Falcao flop, even if it is a years loan, we've only ourselves to blame for not learning from before to put our hopes in a striker who's out of form.

I'm willing to give him a few games before passing judgement, letting him adapt to new surroundings a new system but it was all very Torres last night... An expensive isolated player cutting a lone figure of frustration.

every game he doesn't score a goal or assist, the media will be constantly bringing our signing of him up. i am also a bit fed up of hearing comparisons to torres as torres is bitch made and he looked scared to go near goal, so would shy away from involvement, whereas falcao actually looks like he is hungry and has intent to make moves and get involved; he certainly doesn't look sorry for himself unlike some. he lacks fitness and it's plain to see from last night, but people's bitching whenever he doesn't do much is starting to grate. we will be playing in excess of 50 games next season, so i am absolutely certain he will score many goals for us when he's at 100% fitness and has the players around him to feed him.

C'mon fellas we've signed a dud and let's not pretend otherwise. I'm staggered people are already going down the 'service' route. Last night he resembled my Grandand hobbling up to the kitchen to put the kettle on. It was the lack of strength and presence that alarmed me the most.

Obviously we haven't played any competitive matches yet so he gets a continued benefit of the doubt but I'll be willing to bet it's the same in months time. All the signs are there and sadly, we know them better than anyone.

I just want to truly know what Jose is thinking about Falcao, what did he think of his performance last night ? I saw nothing other than a player who is over the hill, well over the hill.

I think people need to lower their expectations more than anything. If someone expects Falcao to be the Falcao of Madrid then they are going to be disappointed. However if Falcao gets some key goals like Drogba did last season and for a loan signing as a back up to Costa then he will be a good signing. It's as simple as that for me.

We should worry about Remy more than Falcao, he's here long term and showed pretty much nothing as well. To be fair the whole team was off the boil and It's been like that for most of pre-season.

I can't believe people are having a pop at Falcao.

Malouda clearly didn't want to pass to him.

Jose really shouldn't have played in him in that first game , that made all the difference.

but we are going into the season with him potentially as first pick with costa being out. i think its a horrendous situation to be honest, if the last few games have been anything to go by then we are going to struggle for goals. He looks isolated, slow, broken and finished.

things may well change and i hope they do. we have a game on saturday and someone other than hazard needs to find their scoring touch, pronto.

We don't know what situation we are going to be in. It's not horrendous because we just don't know, Falcao hasn't impressed that much in pre-season games but who has? I am not defending him and I am not believing he's going to be a success. I just think we should give the guy a chance first before we assume what the situation is going to be. Our manager has taken a risk, I am just believing in what our manager is doing and I can see why he is taking this risk.

Those articles about him being past it are a waste of time, they need something to write about and they love a fallen superstar. I trust Mourinho over some guy behind a desk writing articles.

It's just frustrating to see people write someone off who hasn't been given a chance. Like I said previously, write him off in January if he doesn't capture any form. Then we can see if it was a mistake to sign him on loan for a season, if it was. We put all our eggs in one basket and spend big on someone who is available.

Have a little faith.

Want him to succeed now he's in Blue, but honestly (& I know its only training matches hes been in) I  think

its going to take a miracle for him to fill Costa's boots , or Remy's or even ex 9 Torres (his CFC record that is).
