October 1, 201510 yr I'm satisfied if he just score 5 goals. Not sure if that is even possible if he's mostly used as a sub like these days.
October 1, 201510 yr Well he's only started the one game so far against Walsall where a good stop by the keeper and clearance off the line stopped him from scoring. He was making all the right runs and overall his contribution was positive. Other than he's been limited to sub appearances generally when we've been losing and our approach play has descended into hoofing it forward and hoping for the best. Really don't think we can be making too many judgement on him at the moment. When he has played, the movement is good, he's getting into positions where it's creating chances which is more than Torres did. Don't think he's going to score loads but reckon he'll chip in with 10-15 this in all competitions depending on playing time. I just wish he hadn't taken that freekick v Walsall !
October 1, 201510 yr I just wish he hadn't taken that freekick v Walsall ! Embarrassing as that was I do wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that the sprinkler had been going off for a few minutes before he took. It was already a pretty greasy surface that evening and I don't think the extra water helped. Or maybe it was just that sh*t and I'm making excuses for him.
October 1, 201510 yr It's true that he's getting into good goal scoring positions but he can't finish. He was known for his finishing. What's happened to him.

What's happened to him.Injury.The same way it took away Torres ability to put it in the net. It was clear last season Falcao was no longer a top quality striker but even I thought he'd have done more than he has so far. The reason he's not getting games is because he doesn't do enough when he does get pitch time. A poor signing as many predicted so far. Edited October 1, 201510 yr by Chelsbear

What's happened to him. i think it's confidence again. you look at the goal he scored vs palace, it was a brilliant headed finish. he didnt have time to think about it, just put his head on it. torres always seemed a decent aerial threat for us as well, and i think that was also because it was more instinctive and he didnt have the time to think about it and panic

October 2, 201510 yr Falcao will never be the player he was before his injury. I'm afraid his best years are behind him, an odd goal here and there is the best we can hope for. Does anyone think any other top European club would have signed him ? Barca, Rael, Bayern, City etc etc.??

October 2, 201510 yr it is what it is. An almighty cock up by whoever sanctioned this deal, everyone was saying it could be a good deal, "we can't lose", "it's only a loan", "gamble worth taking", well now we are barely into October and the realisation is that we have wasted a valuable space in the squad, a space that was very important to us this season considering how unreliable Costa has been.

Falcao was a crazy decision, Utd must have been laughing when we took him on.
October 2, 201510 yr Like Torres we signed him a few years too late. Im not that upset about the loan but if someone at the club was stupid enough to sign him at the end of the season I would be pissed off. Would have been nice if we had kept Bamford so he could have learnt off the likes of Falcao, Remy and maybe Costa.

How is that good for his development ?
October 2, 201510 yr i think he deserves a bit more time before we write him off The guy was bad before we signed him, he's had plenty of time. He doesn't frighten defenders one bit anymore. Drogba who is 37 years old has more to him than Falcao does now.

October 2, 201510 yr Bamford wasnt ready for the premiership, should have loaned him to a team like Vitesse or another round of the Championship Some players may not be ready yet, but some are definitely way past ready, you take your pick, but I' rather have a player not ready, and make him ready.

October 2, 201510 yr Agreed on Bamford, what better way to be ready than with the champions. Surrounded by world class players. Instead he's kicking his heels at Palace
October 2, 201510 yr All the rubbish about we need to win games so kids can't play is boring me. I'd rather draw 2-2 at Newcastle with Bamford and such in the team because it's a learning curve for them. But to see what is our best 11 out there look like they can't be bothered is a p*sstake. The 'kids' would put in twice the effort some of our so called untouchables have been putting in recently.
October 3, 201510 yr Agreed with the rest, we could have gained more with Bamford in the squad instead of Falcao. We would have a higher probability of scoring (and winning) plus he reaps the benefit of playing top tier football with a better squad. A win-win situation for both parties. Instead, we signed a guy past his prime. I honestly can't wrap my head around this.
October 3, 201510 yr how long would it be before people turned on bamford because he's "not good enough" after a string of vague appearances from the bench? we have traore on the bench who's played striker, but isn't going to be used. I still have faith in falcao, but he's not going to do much with the tiny number of bit part appearances he keeps getting. I think remy is overrated and not nearly good enough for our club. if the option was available i would throw some big money at bayern for lewandowski and move costa on as lewa's agent seems to be putting teasers out, so test bayern's resolve. October 3, 201510 yr Didn't catch Walsall highlights but apparently he had a bad second half. I'm happy for him to get a few starts. He has looked hungry when on the pitch. Let's face it, It'll probably be an uphill battle to make fourth this season whoever the striker, given the manager's seeming insistence on playing the same out of broken players.
October 4, 201510 yr starting to look like this project has failed...@Zola are you ready to pay up? Edited October 4, 201510 yr by robdog
