Shocking attendance for the debut home CL game against the finalists

They had tickets on open sale for 20 this afternoon. Probably giving them away with a can of diet coke at Asda across the road just before the match.

like i said cuadrado did had a pretty solid game, good first half gave some good defensive contributions on the right but he still can't beat a man one on one even once and crashing miserably to the ground everytime he got nudge a bit which is at this rate it's becoming pretty funny

nothing near a superb performance like you're suggesting

It just makes their decision to increase the size even more bizarre. Why increase the size if you can't ever fill it up ?

You're actually exaggerating a lot, so when you say you're exaggerating a bit, you're doing the opposite of exaggerating, whatever the opposite of exaggerating is.

haha, i have no idea what you just typed!

The opposite of exaggerate is understate. :)

I'm a bit flummoxed after tonight's results and performances. We've been atrocious and were hammered at City. City have looked streets ahead in the league and do look extremely likely to win the league, even at this early juncture and yet they are again outplayed in Europe. And as much as they whinge about the difficult groups they get, their expenditure and squad is greater than nearly everyone they come up against (on paper at least). In my eyes at least, Juventus aren't all that amazing either. A good side of course but they lost three important players in the summer, had another out injured and played Cuadrado. Apart from Pogba, I can't imagine City even thinking about signing any other Juventus player.

So is the 'best league in the world' actually a bit sh*t and overrated? Do we confuse the premier leagues competitiveness with actually being high quality? Even Southhampton were shown up by a team I've never heard of. If we're struggling in the CL, we're bloody useless in the UEFA cup.

And United. We know they've got issues but they've spent insane money in the last couple of years and yet they're beaten fairly comfortably by a team from a league that has died in the Champions League era and been reduced to little more than a Scotland style league.

ok so i understated cuardrados ability to be such a crap footballer and exaggerated how good he was tonight, not just a little bit but the full exaggeration type of exaggerating?

foookin ell lads lol

Twiglet offered an understated performance at Chelsea, but was superb during the world cup and that's no exaggeration ;)

I can't remember the last time i watched a Premier League game and thought it was a quality match. There has been very exciting matches, but not many where i think the quality has been great.

Most of all I miss goals whacked in from afar.

Complete fantasy football here, but part of me wishes we would somehow get Mata back to get some creativity again with Oscar playing next to Matic. United fans don't seem to value him at all yet personally he's one of my favourite players of all time.

Steve Mcmanamamanaman just said Liverpool are currently going through a 'transitional period'

25 years is a long time to be in transition.

Been busy tonight so just catching up with this thread.  "Mcmanamamanaman"  is brilliant!!

I miss Mata so much and I'm still pining for Drogba. Some slagged Didi towards the end, but I still fantasise about him being with us and making an appearance here and there.

Problem regarding the premier league is People confuse best entertainment with the best quality...it's arguably the former, definitely not the latter

I have just seen the tackle on Shaw and i think that was pen and a red card too. The PSV player did kinda lunge into the tackle.

Awful what happened to Shaw but I'd disagree, great tackle for me. Aggressive but Moreno went the ball and did what he needed to do.

My word, Gerrard makes for a miserable pundit on bt sport...just sits there with a bitter scouse scowl on his face...no fan of rio, but at least he speaks with a bit of enthusiasm

I can't go an entire half without screaming something about Lampard arriving on the edge of the box :(

All rivalries aside, I feel for Luke Shaw.

First start in the CL and he gets taken out like that. Was an horrific challenge and that's him out for the season.
