Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2015/2016

All rivalries aside, I feel for Luke Shaw.

First start in the CL and he gets taken out like that. Was an horrific challenge and that's him out for the season.

I don't think it was that bad a tackle, certainly not malicious but possibly a little clumsy.

My word, Gerrard makes for a miserable pundit on bt sport...just sits there with a bitter scouse scowl on his face...no fan of rio, but at least he speaks with a bit of enthusiasm

Gerrard, Scholes, Owen, they seem obsessed with monotone pundits on BT Sport. I knew Gerrard would be like this, what idiot thought he would make a good pundit ?

I have a theory, his book will produce a few knives for his back and his new career may be short lived.

As much as I love to read football's inside stories, Saint Steve is really throwing out all the dirty laundries out there. The Rafa, Jose, Ballo, should see a chapter of Rodgers bashing soon. To me, it's just a bit too soon, maybe the man needs money bad.

Shocking tackle on Shaw, anywhere else on the pitch would have been a foul and card. Because it's a penalty and send off call, the referee played it safe, and wrong.

Poor Luke Shaw, I really feel for him. Was awful to see him get taken off like that.

As for the punditry last night, it was generally awful are BT in competition to see if they can get the most boring, uncharismatic pundit/commentators possible ?

The whole coverage lacked any sort of spark and even the sets seemed dull and badly lit. Crapola.

No competition Shelley, they've won hands down. Who the hell made the decisions on these pundits?

Taken from Wiki because I didn't know the full line-up but it has confirmed my initial statement...!:

BT Sport have exclusive live coverage of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League with a launch of a new channel called BT Sport Europe becoming the new home to both competitions. New presenters and pundits were signed in order to bring better coverage with Gary Lineker becoming the face of BT Sport Europe. Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand will assist him with presenting the coverage while Steven Gerrard, Harry Redknapp, Glen Hoddle, Howard Webb, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen, Steve Mcmanaman and Owen Hargreaves also join the BT Sport Europe team as pundits.

Could be worse, could have Henry...! But there's 3 Mancs in there (Ferdinand, Scholes & Webb) and 3 Scousers (Stevens, Owen and McManaman)... Plus one ex-City (Hargreaves). Where's our representative? Hoddle? I suppose we have one more than Arsenal though.

Vary it up a bit! We have a Manc and Scouse for Sky too! Although to be fair they are both very good.

I'm so gutted for Luke Shaw, it is really hard to put into words. He came with a lot of expectation due to his fee and had a difficult first season which was plagued by injury. He spent all summer getting to peak fitness and has, in my opinion, been the best fullback in the league so far.

The result was bad, but the injury to Luke is much worse and weakens our team massively. It's bad news for both us and England as there is a great chance he'll miss the euros. Thankfully he is young and, as it is a break, there is a good chance he can come back just as strong. The only problem will be mental - whether he will want to run past players knowing the horrors of an injury like this.

Re the tackle, for me the front foot made a decent tackle, but he lunged in, was a bit reckless, and his trailing foot took Luke out. It's definitely a penalty and in that position a red card because of the nature of the tackle. What makes it more surprising is that Moreno broke his leg last year too, so I'm surprised to see he would be so reckless.

6 months out for Luke Shaw apparently, might miss the Euro Finals too?

Gutted for the lad, hopefully he makes a shift and full recovery.

What does this mean for United though. I think Rojo has had a bit of a falling out with LVG, would have thought he'd have been the obvious replacement?

Is Phil Jones out injured too?

It was a reckless tackle, the fact that his trailing leg snapped Shaw's in half is clear proof of excessive force which is grounds for a red and a penaty.

Shaw is incredibly unfortunate with the tackle to be honest. If he was caught half a second later he probably would have been fine, but he was caught just as his right leg was at it's most tense, when it's planted into the ground. With the force being pushed down onto the leg, and the other guy's leg pushing it in a different angle, the break was inevitable. Half a second later and his right leg wouldn't have been planted as much and he would have just been taken out without any injury.

I saw the footage of Luke Shaw's injury and it was horrific. I've seen players sustain injuries of that nature over the years and Shaw's is up there as being of the most horrific I've seen.

Sustaining a broken leg can lead to a recovery period of three to six months or possibly longer but my biggest fear in this situation is the complications that can arise from an injury of that nature such as a bone infection which is more likely to occur especially when bone is sticking out of the skin as Shaw's was.

I wish him all the best in his recovery because I hate seeing players sidelined for injuries of that severity.

So...Gerrard's a racist.

That was Diouf playing the race card. Nothing to suggest he's a racist and I'm not even a fan of him.

Barely touched him

Oxygen mask and all!

I remember I broke my leg in the school team about 15 years ago, carried off by 2 lads and sat down in an office till my mum came to take me to A&E. From the shin down leg/foot just flopping about!

It's a mans game!

I see that the tickets for the Arsenal game have gone on general sale, and that wee idiot, from Arsenal Fan TV, Mo has been going on about us not being able to sell out our allocation.  Little does he realize it was due to the Arsenal fans not buying up their allocation that the tickets then went on sale.  Of course, when pointed out to him, he claims that Chelsea fans are merely using the "Mourinho book of excuses."

They really are a deluded bunch

Hurts my leg just reading that last bit!
