You can't compare the Zlatan deal to Falcao simply because Falcao was injury prone and is a flaky character who needed to get off to a hot start or he was going to inevitably fail, He was in and out of the side early on for them, Zlatan is going to be the main man plus he is not a streaky player who relies on confidence, As you all know confidence is something he has in abundance. The worry for me is his title winning record, Wherever he goes he wins titles and this could be another Van Persie for them, Having said that with what happened last year i cannot for the life of me tell who will be in the title race this year because after last year how can anyone say they know? Usually it would be a case of it's between United,City/Arsenal and Chelsea but what if Spurs build on from last year? What if Liverpool under Klopp with no European distractions challenge for the title? What if West Ham do a Leicester? What if Everton with their new money shock people?

This season has brought back the fun for me, How could anyone tell a Southampton or Everton fan they are nuts for thinking they can challenge for the league after this year? In the past when lower position teams made comments about getting into the CL, We all would laugh, Not now, The only thing you can predict with confidence is Sunderland will be in relegation dogfight again. :laugh2:

Confirmed that deal agreed between Vardy & Arsenal, just paperwork & medical to complete. Should be done today & tomorrow. #afc#lcfc

Blimey. That's a proper shock tbh. Arsenal buying a genuine striker. Has Arsene finally gotten the message? I wonder how he'll fit into Arsenal's style of play?

Vardy to Arsenal? What a sell-out that chav boy wonder is. He's just won the title.

He'll fit right in with that other utter piece of chav sh*t Wilshere if he goes to the Arse.

I know exactly what you mean BUT he is still Wenger and they are still Arsenal.

Ozil supplying Vardy and Sanchez is pretty frightening. Vardy is rapid and has excellent movement. Wenger's idiocy couldn't even ruin that.

Unless he just keeps picking the French diddies, such as Giroud.

Kante and Xhaka would be perfect for Ozil.

Vardy and Sanchez with another attacker and they would be formidable.

Hope Wenger sucks with Giroud and shoves Vardy out to the right.

Yes - it seems only the chelsea board still beleive in the last miniute.com thing

If that's true then instead of Conte we should have gone for good old 'Arry.

relax lads, we'll be bringing in some tasty signings i am sure of it  :JC_doubleup: we just aren't rushing on signing just anybody.

This is one of the main problems with signing a manager who is still managing another team. He probably has his targets, but he's had no time to check out our current squad and see what we really need. Now he's going to be spending the next month with Italy with no focus on Chelsea what so ever. Football moves fast, you can't stand around and wait for things to happen, events of the last year has proven that.

What we need to remember though is that none of the players that look to be going to our rivals were targeted by us anyway, so it's not like we are missing out on anything, we can't control what other clubs do. My only concern is that we will wait too long again and miss out on the players that we do want.

Does anyone else think Vardy might be a one season wonder who won't be able to handle the fame responsibly? I really don't understand why Arsenal would sign him, nor do I understand why he would leave Leicester.

The very fact that he would so easily jump ship makes me question his character.

I'm not too sure, i think that he's a decent player but someone who fit's into a certain style of football, Leicester suit's him perfectly. I'm not sure how well he will do at Arsenal, they pass the ball around a lot more instead of getting it to him quickly. In the last international game with England, it was pointed out that Vardy is more dangerous when he doesn't have as much time to think about what he is going to do, at Arsenal he will have a lot more thinking time. At Leicester he is all about quick counter attacks with a few passes, Arsenal is totally different, they like to build with many passes.

If i was him, i would stay at Leicester. You would have thought he would have liked to at least try out the Champions League with Leicester first. Maybe he will be thinking about the money though, he's nearly 30 and hasn't been playing at the very top of the game for a long time, it's not like he has spent 10 years earning thousands of pounds a week and millions of pounds a year. If he moves, maybe he will see Arsenal as a way of playing at the top of the game and set himself up perfectly for life after football at the same time.

I imagine Arsenal came in with a big offer and Leicester told him they won't/can't give anything near that. In which case I understand Vardy, this summer is probably his one and only chance to get a massive contract that sets him and his family up for life.

People on Foxes Talk are saying that at Leicester it would be £80k a week, and at Arsenal it would be £120k. After agent cut, taxes and the high cost of living in London, is it really worth selling out for? If you can't live for the rest of your life on what he would get at Leicester, then something is wrong.

at 29 years old this is the best opportunity for vardy to make the move to a big club. whether he continues the form from last season we won't know, but if i was him i would also choose to take the opportunity and make the move. it is a shame if he didn't stay at leicester for the rest of his career, but i don't think anyone would blame him for making the move.

Vardy is excellent at getting behind defenders.

Ozil is excellent at through balls.

Not really difficult to see where most of arsenal's attacking will come from. Similar to Mahrez playing Vardy in numerous times. It's just very difficult to stop as he's an excellent finisher.

So did he skip England training for the medical and negotiations? I imagine Arsenal would want him to do the medical at their facility of choice with their medical staff. And the negotiations are very complex. Sure his agent does most of the detailed work, but there's still a ton of communications needed.

If I was Hodgson, I'd be pretty upset about a player being so distracted and impatient. This is a huge tournament. Players need to be 100% focused on it. You have the rest of the summer for transfers.

Vardy isn't coming off well at all, and that alone would make me hesitate if I were in charge of a club.

What makes this Vardy move to Arsenal strange is, Out of all the Leicester players linked with possible moves away, He was the last one i'd have expected to jump ship so early.

Not for me. At 29, if he doubles his wages and stI'll gets Champions League football then he's onto a winner.

Football fans annoy me. Not you Konkladze, but in general. Football seems to be the only profession where you get slated for moving for financial gain. If another organisation offered me double money I'd cartwheel out the job I have and love and I know my colleagues would wish me all the best.

Ah thank goodness, someone brings up the "one season wonder" thing!

The Euros should give us a good idea how he performs in a different setting from Leicester.

But I'm really rooting for the one season wonder theory...

And I don't think character (helloooo Brendan!) should be brought into this. It's not as if he has been raking in the money since age 18. Plus, as Mayo said, I would switch jobs if the money was better, why can't Vardy?
