Not for me. At 29, if he doubles his wages and stI'll gets Champions League football then he's onto a winner.

Football fans annoy me. Not you Konkladze, but in general. Football seems to be the only profession where you get slated for moving for financial gain. If another organisation offered me double money I'd cartwheel out the job I have and love and I know my colleagues would wish me all the best.

Come on, there's a huge difference between the wages most people get and the wages top footballers get.

No one would begrudge him if he were a League Two player moving to another League Two side for double the salary.

For most people, the extra salary buffers against a potential long period of unemployment that can easily make you insolvent.

But when you're making more in a week than most households make in a year, one or two years will allow you to not work at all for the rest of your life. You have a huge safety cushion against a prolonged period of unemployment. You can even afford to be voluntarily out of the workforce for as long as you want.

Ah thank goodness, someone brings up the "one season wonder" thing!

The Euros should give us a good idea how he performs in a different setting from Leicester.

But I'm really rooting for the one season wonder theory...

Arsenal's impatience is also baffling. Why not wait to see how he does at Euros? They're really a strange bunch.

Clearly they have identified their targets for next season and hoping to bag them early. Perfect way to do business as we proved the season before last.

I dont think this is the homerun its being made out to be. Unless Wenger suddenly starts them playing more direct Vardy may find himself with little to do if he's not on the wing.

Its going to be strange seeing him in that shirt. I would have liked to see how that squad got on in the CL. £30m is a fair price though considering Vardy will be 30 and his style of play may not hold out much longer. I wonder what Claude's reaction will be

I can understand Vardy going to Arsenal but, as others have written, I'm struggling to see his style matching that of Wenger. Is Wenger going to advocate hoofing the ball up to Vardy, contrary to what appears to be his habitual, possession based, passing the ball towards and into the goal style?

The funny thing is Mahrez was also linked with Arsenal but now with this deal, It virtually finishes that move in my opinion, Which leaves Mahrez with 3 possible destinations, United, Chelsea or Barcelona, PSG/Bayern/Real and ourselves are not linked with him. At United would he have the work rate for a Mourinho side? Not sure, Plus will Mourinho try to get a tune out of Depay? That could leave two destinations for Mahrez, Barca or Chelsea, Him and Hazard would be devastating in the same side, Not sure what Conte's views on him would be though. I'd love him at City but to not be linked with him is quite telling considering aside from him we're linked with every player under the sun.

What did Giggs do anyway? I never saw a clip of him making notes, chatting to Moyes/LVG. His job seemed to be to look moody.

This is a question United fans ask themselves, too. What exactly does Ryan Giggs do as AM? We definitely know he didn't have much of a say in either the squad content or the playing style. We saw LVG refer to him while making subs or in the game, and once in a while he used to get to the dugout and shout at the full backs to get up the field.

I'm not implying Giggs doesn't do anything - fans wouldn't know. But it would be interesting to find out all the same.

Oh, and he's leaving United after 29 years at the club, apparently. Maybe he's got a managerial post lined up somewhere.

Maybe Southampton have told him that they will be selling their top players again, there is only so far you can take a club when the board keeps selling your top players.

I don't see it being very different at Everton though. I don't think they will keep hold of Lukaku, Stones and Barkley for much longer.

Well, Southampton's 'overachieving' league position is something Everton expects on average. Given the new influx of funds, the history, the squad available and the fanbase - one can see why it is definitely a step up.

Losing Stones and Lukaku will be a big blow, but they have good players apart from them, too. Deulofeu, Baines, Coleman, McCarthy, Mirallas, Besic. A couple of good signings in the wake of the new PL money, and they can be challenging for top six, regularly. I'm sure Koeman and Everton have targets lined up as replacements, already.

If he signs Kante and a centre back I am going to be very worried.

I do not expect Vardy to do very well at Arsenal. He is a top striker, no doubt - with electric pace, off the ball movement, and clinical finishing - but he was thriving in a counter attacking system which relied on direct football. Arsenal are the opposite, and I don't know if he will slot well into the kind of build-up play that Arsenal are so famous for, or if he can score as many when the opposition are sitting deep and defending against them.

Arsenal should be targetting a younger and much more proven high-profile striker, IMO. Higuain, though not young himself, would have been a better buy, and he's coming off a stellar season, too. I'm not too worried about this signing.

What makes this Vardy move to Arsenal strange is,  Out of all the Leicester players linked with possible moves away, He was the last one i'd have expected to jump ship so early.

This is quite true. I thought Mahrez would be first, followed by Kante. Never expected Vardy to leave them. Will this a trigger a mass exodus, I wonder? Would be unfortunate, it was fun watching them last season.

Vardy's goals dried up when teams parked the bus against Leicester towards the end of the season, teams do that to Arsenal every game so I can't see Vardy being a success if he was to join them.

I'm slightly surprised at the bid.

Vardy is best when counter attacking and running in behind defences.

Arsenal generally like to dominate possession so there's not going to be as much space for him to work with.

It's not really the sort of signing you would expect Wenger to make

If Kante goes, then i'm expecting Mahrez to leave too. Even with the money, they will struggle to replace them. If their big players are looking to leave, then i can't see how they can get big players to join them.

It's a shame that this squad is about to lose their spine only a few weeks after winning the Premier League, i would have liked to see how well they did together in the Champions League.

I'm not surprised Vardy is leaving - possibly.

He is 29, it might be his last chance of making that step to play for a top team.

What is he losing out on? He will play in the CL and almost certainly have a more realistic chance of another league title. Pretty sure he'll get a pay rise too.

£30m for a 29 year old with one top flight successful season? Can you imagine the sh*tfest on here if we made that signing.

They only need 2 good seasons from him and that's repaid. Vardy is a good finisher. People are only dismissive because it's Arsenal.

I don't think you can ignore the stark contrast of systems played by the two teams.

Arsenal are renowned for tippy tapping it, in and around the box. Vardy had success at Leciester exploiting space resulting from quick counter attacks.

It's a shrewd move from Arsenal. He guarantees goals and offers something different from Giroud.

They don't need him long terms but if he brings instant success in the next 2 seasons it's money well spent.

People questioned Kane after his first season saying he could be a one season wonder but he clearly wasn't. I think it will be the same from Vardy sadly.

It's Arsenal though and with Wenger they have the weakest manager out of the top 6 sides in England still.

I've just checked Arsenal Mania's 'Vardy' thread. There's quite a debate there about whether he'll fit into Arsenal, is he too old, his resale value (!), etc. It's not a move that seems to please all Gooners. I give up with that lot.

It's amazing that all those goonies who only a few weeks ago were saying vardy was a drugs cheat are now choosing to completely ignore it. Very odd.

It shows how Football has changed that people think about things like resale value.

It sounds like something Real Madrid would do, wanting the latest toy after one good season.
