John Stones

Featured Replies

Give us the finger!?!? We don't want to sell him. You walking away would be a universally happy event for all Evertonians and the club.

The self-righteous thing could easily apply to all the posts here which wilfully disregard everything Everton have said about the matter. FFS I've seen people put together team sheets for CFC with Stones in them.

We have the Prem champions willing to pay 35-40m (in all likelihood) but 50m is deluded?

Funes Mori is a 3rd/4th choice defender and in no way in any reality a replacement for Stones. We released two defenders this summer so we are signing replacements. Nothing to do with Stones.

Lukaku was for sale.

Because Pedro was for sale.

Everyone is for sale at the right price.

You will lose him this season or next, and thats a fact,  why not be grown up about it...

In 1982 that forum was a rockin'. Best forum there ever was. Some say it still is even if they have an Europa League thread there.

Scousers weren't clever enough to be on forums in 1982, the internet hardly existed then

Wouldn't surprise me if Jose has plans for Zouma at DM. If we sign Stones then it makes sense

Zouma isn't great with the ball at his feet but Stones is brilliant with the ball at his feet, so when Stones brings the ball out of defence Zouma can slot in at CB and when were defending Zouma can sit deep with Stones and Terry/Cahill at CB

Zouma has done an alright job when asked to play in DM and in the big games would give us much needed protection and would also help Matic and allow Fabregas to do his thing

Everton are interested in signing Inter Milan's captain and defender Andrea Ranocchia, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sources also understood the Toffees will only move for Ranocchia if they agree to sell John Stones to Chelsea.

I'm a little baffled with the hard stance Everton seem to be taking here, The closer deadline day approaches the more likely the player hands in a transfer request, Even if he is Everton through and through blah blah, His agent will tell him wake up and smell the coffee.

We all think this transfer will reach an agreement at some stage the question is why is Martinez wound up it seems with Chelsea for making an approach? Hello Roberto the transfer window is open, Another thing i would have thought he would show some respect to Chelsea what with them loaning Lukaku to Everton two seasons ago, Are they angry with Chelsea for making them cough up £28 million for a £20 million striker? Lol

My honest valuation of Stones is £40 million, Had he been foreign and had the same potential, talent and ability you would be looking in the range of £28/£30 million but that is the problem with buying English players unfortunately, If the money boys at Chelsea agree a deal around £35/£38 million i would view that as great business however if Chelsea have to fork out £45 odd it would be worth it in the long run plus we will be bidding £55 odd for De Bruyne and Arsenal will be bidding £40 odd for Benzema or Cavani so any worries of being ripped off will also disappear, Its silly money season and unfortunately Madrid have taught everyone you have to join in.

question issss are you a man city or utd fan?

You will lose him this season or next, and thats a fact,  why not be grown up about it...

Well it's not a fact; it's just highly probable. If we got fourth (our point total just two years ago was good enough for fourth almost every other year) it could buy us another year or two.

Martinez's plan is to try to keep this core together. It's highly ambitious and probably incredibly unlikely to succeed but that's his plan.

Yes it's unlikely but what do you want us to do? Give up? Pack it in? The sell to buy model is garbage -- a fact Southampton may have started to realize when our third goal went in last weekend. Our only hope, even if it's a huge longshot, is to retain players like Stones and Barkley. 40m of Europa level talent sitting on our bench is not going to help us get fourth.

I've said it before and I will say it again: we can't sign elite players so your money is useless. Doesn't matter how much you give us for Stones ... 100 MILLION! ... we can't spend that money on players better than Stones (or most of our current first 11 TBH). A bottom half team can get better selling a top 4 side their players and buying new ones. Spurs, Liverpool, us ... we can't get IN better than we send OUT. So the money is a trap. Martinez knows that. He isn't holding out for more money. He wants to keep Stones.

Make no mistake ... even at 50m ... most of us will utterly lose our minds if he's sold this window. I just want to stress that because it's a fact you lot (and the City fan above) seem unable to grasp. Not 30m. Not 40m. Not 50m. We don't want the money.

Unless he puts in a transfer request -- which I think is unlikely this year -- he's not moving.

If he's the player that we really need, to replace John Terry, £40m sounds about right, especially when comparing what MUFC paid for Rio Ferdinand, all those years ago. I see the importance of him being English too.

Everton get 4th? Not a chance, not while you have Martinez and his complete lack of ability in sorting a defence.

Oh and there is no way that stones is goin g to barca for 50m next yr whoever said that. Not a chance. Why didn't martinez say no when asked has stones expressed a wish to join us.

I've heard so many everton fans claiming he doesn't want to join us etc but refusing to answer was pretty telling.

If Martinez knows for a fact stones wants to stay at Everton and not join just answer with "no john has not expressed a wish to join them"

Btw do we think a 4th bid will go in?

I think we have our bidding Mojo back, I think we'll go in there with highball figure, smash the piggy bank and get Stones gift wrapped on the way out.

Everton 4th? they will be lucky to get 7th or 8th with the teams ahead of them. the usual suspects at top four, then spurs, liverpool, and even swansea, crystal palace fighting it out too.

Id be interested in knowing why 40 or 50m wouldnt help improve your squad. You may be confused about how money works

If Everton finish fourth I'll never talk about football again, not a peep, didn't you finish 11th, mate palace were above you..you're bordering complete dillusion, and if you think you can't improve the squad with 40 million you're not very clever ffs Naismith starts for you who for example can be replaced by yarmoulenko for 14 million....fourth place, poor simple lads

I respond to that comment straight from a couple of pages ago only to go back and read everybody else said exactly what I had, it shows mate good sense prevails, you're sounding like a school girl that refuses to believe her goldfish has died

Yea Bobby that's just the echos of broken hearts you're hearing from them, the board will not be able to answer for themselves if they turn down 40 it can't happen, if we want him bad enough we will get him and all the toys out the pram in the world wont stop it

You can understand the everton fans frustration, but nothing they can do to change it by coming on here and talking about it. I think they should be writing emails to their board instead.
