August 30, 201510 yr Of course we can still win the league. There is though minimal room for slip ups now,in short we have regain our form over the next three games. Nothing less than seven points will do. The old saying is you can't win a title in September but you can certainly lose one. United famously won all first 10 games of the season and 13 of 15 before getting beaten in 1985....they finished fourth.
August 30, 201510 yr Yes. People forget last season already. City had caught up to us by new years after a 12 point gap and then fell into a similar gap after. Is eight points insurmountable for the best manager in the league with this squad and 34 games left? I can't believe that. I suspect City splashed huge to reclaim the BPL and do something real in the CL for once. The latter will hopefully distract from the former.
August 30, 201510 yr Winning the league should be the last thing on anyone's mind now, right now we don't look like capable of beating any team with a fast left winger. What's really annoyed me this weekend is we could have made serious movement up to the table had we won. Instead we are in the 'relegation zone'. I think if the margin stretches to 11-12 points by October, we will definitely be out of the race, can't see City throw away that many points even with 30 games to go.
August 30, 201510 yr Personally i think it's already decided. Man City is looking very good, they have now added De Bruyne and we look like sh*t. If we look at Arsenal and Man U, i think our second place is pretty solid though. Theoretically, everything is still possible of course. But I'm pessimistic in general.
August 30, 201510 yr Too often we overly hard on ourselves and our players, the league is a marathon and not a sprint. how often in the opening weeks do we see the better teams suffering a slow start while mid table teams reach the dizzy heights of 2nd or 3rd place only to drift off after a few more games. I think last season Swansea were top of the league before we played them at home. We haven't made it easy for ourselves but there's along way to go. Some players are off the pace but we are meant to support the team through the good and the bad instead of just slating them because they aren't playing a Messi five star performance even the greats have weeks mediocre or fluctuating performances.
August 31, 201510 yr I believe we can win the league if we go on a run of 10-12 games unbeaten. I mean united had 5 points in 4 games both in 07-08 and 08-09 and they went to win the both of the leagues. We are not united , we are f**king better than them. And those who believe city wont drop points. Do you guys see city ending the season 100+ points ?This is premier league. Its unpredictably makes it special. Take 7 points in next 3 games against arsenal, everton and newcastle and then we ll show the world what we are#KTBFFH
August 31, 201510 yr ..... the league is a marathon and not a sprint. ...... True though it might be, I find that quote really annoying.
August 31, 201510 yr No, it's over. Cup runs in the FA, Capital One, and Champion's League as well as top four is the best we can get. We aren't catching City.
August 31, 201510 yr Not really thinking about it. We just need our game sorted. The core players are all so tired. They are knackered as Neville said. International break comes in a good time but then we are facing Everton and Arsenal....
August 31, 201510 yr True though it might be, I find that quote really annoying. Sorry crap cliche I admit
August 31, 201510 yr The thing is if the Team were playing well, a long unbeaten run might manifest, but the team isn't instilling confidence so we are bound to show concern, Citeh throwing money around like Roman used to, and Jose watching enviously, with all his targets tantalisingly out of reach, Wet spam and Palace are now showing the gap between teams is diminishing as real gems appear from off the big fours radar!!!
August 31, 201510 yr Not a chance we are winning the league. Man City will be in front the entire season, then win it with 10+ points to spare.
August 31, 201510 yr I think we will still be top 2, and if we can close a few points on city we know they arent great under pressure so they could capitulate. I think City's spending is likely to help us though, as Abramovich must be looking at the amount theyre spending and realise that we cant not spend and expect to still be better than them. City signing de bruyne and sterling could actually give Roman a kick to ok a huge transfer for Pogba. maybe just wishful thinking, but i cant believe that he can look at city spending that much and then expect us to compete without major investment. Either he lowers his expectations, or he spends big
August 31, 201510 yr I would imagine City will win it this year as what looks like one of their fans above has said, not sure it will be by a big margin although they have started well and I don't expect them to drop off from their early form I do expect other teams to find better form (us) over the season. City's spending has energised their team and made competition for places which has sparked them and they look hungry, that hunger is being fed by watching their main competiton flounder and the insentive that if they can snatch an early lead while we are not firing on all cylinders they will have a very good chance of staying in front when we are. I'm not worried about winning things every year, so long as we pull it round and show we are still a big force I'll be happy enough, getting the best out of the great players we have here would be great to see and make the season just as enjoyable especially after a bad start. There are some good teams who can have more than the odd day where they cause an upset though so all is not lost and it will be an interesting season, it will be hard to get a run going in what is a tighter division than maybe ever before so we definately need to get on our game quickly to try to turn things around, the International break has come at a good time for us and maybe will be the turn in fortunes we need. August 31, 201510 yr What I try to remember when looking at City's storming start...is that it's normally Chelsea running rampant through August, normally fans of other teams saying "yeah, Chelsea looking pretty unbeatable atm"...and that most years we cock it up anyway (and even last year, fell back to level pegging by January). Maybe City will go for the full Chelsea season homage and absolutely disintegrate come the month of November.

It's not about winning things every year. But it should be about looking to improve every year. Even though we won the league, it was evident we were still quite a bit behind the top european clubs. But then instead of improving, we have actually regressed. Edited August 31, 201510 yr by ArtVandalay
August 31, 201510 yr Of course we can. Until we are mathematically eliminated, there is always a chance. I know Jose is not perfect, no one is, but he will do what he can to get the players back to their best. City has done well in the market and with the start of the season. There have been only four games played, plenty of time. We have work to do. I am willing to bet that the sense of urgency to turn this around has been communicated to the coaching staff and players. I expect to see some improvements after the break.

Even though we won the league, it was evident we were still quite a bit behind the top european clubs. But then instead of improving, we have actually regressed. We have regressed as you say but that's as much to do with players in bad form or looking unmotivated than anybody else improving to a point that the players we have can't reach, our squad at its best is still a match for anybody in the premiership and that's likely what Mourinho thought before the bad start made him feel reinforcements should have been made. Yes ideally a team would strengthen even after becoming champions but I'm of the belief that we hadn't yet seen the best of the players we have and a good season together could have been the key to bringing a lot more out of them this season, that and a few decent youngsters on the edge of the first team possibly gave Jose the feeling he could get more from the squad he started the season with. I'm obviously worried about the wway we've started especially defensively but there is no way after four games I'd be writing off any of our out of form players and believing they haven't got a major contribution to another good season in them. Mourinho can get this right with a few alterations or rotations on the training field and maybe a change of tactics/formation, I'll look forward to seeing him earn his crust. We will obviously turn it around. So far this has been relegation form, and we obviously arent getting relegated. But the way i see it, this team doesnt have the potential to overturn an 8 points deficit against that Man CIty team.

But the way i see it, this team doesnt have the potential to overturn an 8 points deficit against that Man CIty team. That's obviously a fear but as the trophy won't be on my mantlepiece if we do win it, I'll be happy to watch what the Manager can do to try to turn things around and I'll enjoy it almost as much playing catch up (and in my scenario) watching City try to hold their bottle while we get a string of good performances going. 8 points is a lot in December, in August and with a home game against them on the cards, it's not an impossible task...we are Champions and we can show belief in our squad because of that.
August 31, 201510 yr Christ I hope we can......but we are looking really ropey at the moment...I would take a couple of 1-0 wins on the spin at this moment in time, just to settle things down.

I'd consider it a successful season if we finish in the top 3, win a domestic cup and at least reach the semi finals of the champions league. Also once the season is over we need a massive clearout. Let's do what we did last season- identify those who need to leave and those we need to get and get them as soon as possible, even before the European championship starts.I know we're not going to win the league every season; no team does but I want to see improvement. We have the money and the clout to get these players.
