You're only as good as your last game

Personally I feel Christensen would have benefitted A LOT more from playing with the U-21, trained with the first team and then be given a few cameos here instead of a random loan. Its not like this guy has lots of top flight experience

To my understanding we've got a Vitesse type agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach who he's on loan with this season si hopefully he gets plenty of minutes which should really speed along his development.

If he has a good season he could find himself replacing Ivanovic next year because at this rate I don't this he'll be getting a new contract.

dunno why people are having meltdowns over this signing. He is a stop gap/short term signing, has experience at a good level (which our youth defenders don't have) and is a big, physically powerful defender. who else could we have signed that wouldn't cost a fortune and would have to get behind terry, cahill and zouma in the pecking order? this guy is costing us 2+ million and provides some depth in defence. i don't see any negative to this to be honest because in january i reckon we'll get our man, stones or strengthen a little more elsewhere. while city are out spending, we are biding our time until jan and next season to splash the cash again! lovely jubbly!

How is this fellow a better option than a promising youngster as a bench player? Pappy spent a large chunk of his career in Ligue 2. I don't think Chelsea will splash a big amount of cash in January or during the summer of 2016. Also, January transfer windows provide no quality options to pursue and Chelsea have a poor record for this window.

Not sure Zouma is in the same class as Stones and Laporte. He'll get a fair bit of game time this season I reckon so we'll have to see how consistent he is.

Ivanovic was a complete unknown at a cheap price look how that turned out.

Cant believe we are doing this. Not even good enough for the likes of Sunderland.

Maybe Papa will play the DM role...that was his first position before converting to CB?

Doesn't seem to have been a stand out from what I can think of.

Bit of a meh signing and really hope it's not our last today, seems a bit of a panic signing as we couldn't lad Stones.

Prob won't see much of him in any case

It's high time small clubs like Nantes resisted the financial clout of these English bully boys and made a stand against this poaching of their best players.

I'm with Nantes in their fight against the way football is being ruined by clubs like us.

I hope he will be playing well for us this year.

This guy is the definition of a stopgap signing. Apparently he can play DM too so clearly a temporary move until we make another onslaught at Everton and/or Juventus for Stones and Pogba, respectively. Given who this guy's been linked with and the fact that he's only played for Senegal twice at the age of 26, let's just hope we don't see too much of him this season.
