October 7, 201510 yr What reason? Everyone has to start somewhere. Let's put it this way...I'd much rather Big Sam be in charge of England than Roy Hodgson (who doesn't have a clue). Yet Roy was given the chance to manage Liverpool who are a semi big team... (what? I did say semi). Why hasn't Sam ever been considered for teams in the top half of the table when Roy has? I don't get it. Because Sam is a dyer, grinder of a manager. His teams are difficult to beat but they dont win a lot either. If your happy being anchored mid table forever have Big Sam as your manager !!

I'm not implying that I want Sam to manage Chelsea, I'm just saying I don't think he's as bad as some people are saying on here. Edited October 7, 201510 yr by CFC-Forever
October 7, 201510 yr If the worst happens, and assuming Ancelotti isn't interested, I would like to see us making a move for Simeone. Although I am loathe to see a revitalised José in charge of that absolute beast of a PSG side. Simeone would be my choice regardless, I think he's done very well at Atletico and would do well in the Premier League. Not sure he would be looking to leave though as the impression I get is that he is very happy there.
October 7, 201510 yr I'm not implying that I want Sam to manage Chelsea, I'm just saying I don't think he's as bad as some people are saying on here. Yh I agree, he's obviously a very competent manager.
October 7, 201510 yr Simeone is an outstanding candidate. Klopp is too. Unai Emery has the potential to make it big too. Besides these 3, there isn't much else out there.

I don't get it. Just all down to opinions I guess. Have always detested the bloke. Comes across as a typical "know-all Northerner" and have listened to Hammers & Geordie fans who were glad to be shot of him, due to his dour football - remember Jose's 19th Century football comment? When Roy gets the boot, it will be good to see a younger coach like Pardew, Southgate or Howe installed - wouldn't want Big Sam anywhere near the international team - it will set us back years.
October 7, 201510 yr Have always detested the bloke. Comes across as a typical "know-all Northerner" Well, I myself am a Northerner (don't worry, dad was from London) so I can't really fault Sam on that, lol.
October 7, 201510 yr If someone had suggested to get Avram in before he joined Chelsea as a technical director or whatever he was people would have simply said who? We all know who Allardyce is and we know he isn't the calibre of manager we need.
October 7, 201510 yr Author A few more positive responses. I did say I was forecasting a bit of a turn around, now it's begun to sink into minds. I can tell we had a few people thinking it was a terrible Idea here to begin with. However, I know that some of you now have thought and maybe even out loud - "You know what, I think that Big Sam could make an impact at the bridge given the chance... He'd certainly repair what damage has been made, so we can get over the other side to snatch the EPL trophy before City do." Ok. Maybe not exactly that. But I'd like to think I painted an image of Big Sam holding a support truss keeping the bridge intact, so Chelsea can cross over into 1st place dreamland once again. October 7, 201510 yr somebody quoted earlier that jose's win rate is 60 odd percent and big sams 40 odd. When you consider that jose's career has been with top title mega buck challengers and sams has been with relegation scrappers, that percentage difference could be quite misleading? If jose did go and big sam did come in, he would be sure to sign a big man in the window, maybe Andy carrol. Can you imagine the likes of hazard willian costa and pedro feeding off the long ball knock downs, we would be pretty much unstoppable, sure to get us back in the top four. When you consider that jose's career has been with top title mega buck challengers and sams has been with relegation scrappers Even at Uniao de Leiria he had a bigger win percentage than Big Sam ever had at any club. That squad was built on a shoestring budget and when he left the club to become Porto's manager in January 2002 the club was just three points behind the league leaders. When has Big Sam ever been in the title fight in January? Edited October 7, 201510 yr by Maksimov

October 7, 201510 yr Smoke is clearly just having a laugh guys, not sure the rude responses are necessary.
October 7, 201510 yr i know this is totally hypothetical, but if jose was to go and as an interim manager you had to choose between avram grant, benitez, or big sam, who would you pick?
October 7, 201510 yr i know this is totally hypothetical, but if jose was to go and as an interim manager you had to choose between avram grant, benitez, or big sam, who would you pick? Given those rather limited options, I think most of us would grab a length of rope and go and look for the nearest rafter. It would be less messy than razor blades to the wrists.
October 7, 201510 yr I think people are asking the wrong question. It's not "Why should Chelsea hire Big Sam?" Bur rather "Why should Big Sam accept a Chelsea job?". Haven't you lot heard? His type of quality is destined for Real Madrid. Plus he's not all that big, is he?

He started from piss poor don't even have a premier title in our division to compete for teams.Could of said the same for Rodgers pre-Liverpool, or AVB pre-Chelsea or any of a number of other examples where success with a limited budget didn't translate into success with a much bigger budget. Better examples than Big Sam too mind you. So much changes. Not saying he can not, but that's not sound logic to make a decision from.

October 7, 201510 yr Big Sam would keep us up, then we could push on the season after. And at least he has scored in front of the Shed, which José has never done.
October 7, 201510 yr This thread is hilarious. Bloke is a huge Wind Up Merchant - don't fall for the bait!
