I'm not usually negative.

But, I've seen nothing to change my mind that we're on a downward spiral.

Say goodbye to top four. All I'm saying.

Perhaps a season out of the CL will do us good. Who knows.

i've sat here and ranted to the wife, ranted to the daughters boyfriend and apart from the first 5 mins we were sh*t. only really willian, mikel and ceasar any good. i've really had enough now. i moaned about this crappy spanish/italian style football that  takes forever to get to the halfway line a few weeks ago against the geordies, but now its gone beyond that. WTF has happened to that team that before last xmas turned and destroyed sides. Was always concerned when we stared getting linked to Rimjob Falcao.

Hate all this bollocks that gets bought up about the 70s/80s whatever it's ridiculous.

We weren't bankrolled by one of the world's richest men and stocked with players cherry picked from around the globe. It's a nothing point.

It detracts from the reality of the situation we find ourselves in as a supposed elite club.

If you were a fan in the late 70-80s now you may understand what it used to feel like following Chelsea. So personally I can take this and 100% Jose is the man to lead us out of this.

It's a different situation, those teams of the past played to a level that the squad assembled dictated. This Chelsea is massively under achieving. Some of the highest paid and highly rated players in Europe are getting arseholed....week in....week out.

Don't want Jose gone but as spud said you cannot attribute poor confidence entirely to how we are playing. There is no sign of improvement. Added to that Costa will get 3 games again for the kick and things aren't going are way at all it's hard to see JM retain his current position

If we play well against Kiev, it will be proof that the players are deciding when to put in a shift and when to take the pee. In a way that will be even more depressing

Sure, let's turn a (hypothetical) positive into a negative!

I'm struggling to understand what's happened.

Pat Nevin on Radio 5 said (before the game) that CFC were in need of re-building last season and won the league in spite of that. Even if that's true (and it makes sense) it does not - as you say - explain why CFC are where they are in the league.

The commitment of players must be a factor. It's a hard thing to say but I don't think (at any club) the manager can be 100% responsible; he can't play.

Being honest, I'm worried for JM as RA hasn't in the past been patient when managers have run into trouble.

Great Post Spur, I heard Pat say that and was a little surprised but still like we said it doesn't explain us being this bad. I could see maybe being 4-7 or something with this squad too much talent.

I just don't know if something happened behind the scenes? Was there some big falling out? Still irks me because these guys make millions to play not whine about the manager or cry and not play hard. That's so frustrating.

Have to agree with your last point as well I want Jose here for the next ten plus years but at some point I think Roman will get anxious and pull the trigger. Can't stand the constant merry go round of managers and Jose is the best for us.

Hopefully we can still attract an elite calibre of players of we miss out on top 4

If we continue to ship two or more goals per game, missing out on the top four will be the least of our problems.

Oh ffs Costa did something again?

It's hard to put into words what I'm feeling. I feel the only thing stopping me getting into a rage is that this season is draining my soul

I don't think it'll develop into anything worse than that. Relegation fodder is the only other option, else there's little difference where we would finish if we came midtable. We surely aren't going to be worse than the likes of Newcastle or Villa over the season

Including pre-season games.

We have played 21 games, and won FIVE.

Finishing in 5th place would not be a disaster, it'll be a miracle.

The way ramires defending prior to coutinho goal is the thing that I've been having problem with ramires.. he can't seem to learn from it..

2nd half was awful, I think the players just did enough not to make it way too obvious that they want him gone but really, they should just come straightforward about it to roman and salvage the season..

Realistically, mid-table boredom beckons, although most teams that start this poor do tend to go on a run in Spring and collect points. Chelsea will also have a good period this season, even if it is difficult to see now.

I am convinced that if we can see this period out with JM, we can go on and get the kind of stability and success Man Utd had under Fergie.

Sadly it looks like we'll have to put up with Ramires' defensive naivety for another 4 years.

I have acknowledged this point as a valid one. I was just giving myself and others a reminder of how this was a normal Saturday feeling for a Chelsea fan back then. We have had a great ride; needed to strengthen resolve; stick with Jose and see this out. Look at the up coming games and find a way to win them.
