So if it is Allegri, we're again changing the tactics and hiring a manager who needs quality midfielders when we have maybe 2 who fit his system (Fabregas and Loftus-Cheek).

And what of the academy who have been playing 433 or 4231 for the last decade or so? Do we change the culture throughout the whole club for a new manager or do we not bother because he might not be here for more than a few seasons?

Need to sort those flares out, were they his big brother's maybe? They're practically pulled up to his nipples and they are still too long.

And his jumper is like a number of squashed road signs.

The bloke in the middle has it sorted.

"the bloke in the middle"??!!  It's only Geoff Hurst!

And the one on the right I think is an Arsenal player, Peter something Italian beginning with M I think.

And that's how trousers were worn in the 70s - they had to drag on the floor and go up to your tits!

But Peter Whatshisname's jumper is horrendous isn't it?

Edit - Peter Marinello, that's it!  I seem to remember he thought he was God's gift.  Just like modern selifie and hair-obsessed Arsenal pretty-boys.

You've not seen the Under-18's recently? They are playing a 3-5-2 formation - Tammy Abraham and Ike Ugbo as a twin spearhead, with Kyle Scott and Mason Mount centrally in a midfield five.

I actually just saw your report in the other section and was wondering just how long we've been playing this. Missed out on the youth cup games but is this now a regular thing? Last time I saw the under-21s we were still playing that familiar formation.

In your opinion is this a real shift in academy philosophy or is it limited to the under-18s playing to their strengths?

I think it could be a bit of both. Clearly, Ugbo has been fast tracked into this team as Abraham is destined for bigger things next season and they are similar in style, but for me the clue to any possible philosophy change comes in the midfield and our attempt to make more use of the fullbacks getting forward in the wing back role. Dasilva is a real prospect who could easily break every record going for youth player appearances and trophies won, but that [single player advancement] in itself wouldn’t warrant a sea change in system coaching. More likely is a broadening of the remit since Jose’s departure and whether this is as a direct result of a new manager’s influence in advance of taking the job next season, or Guus simply giving Joe Edwards and Jody Morris a freer rein, is anyone’s guess.

Sindre indicated that Max Allegi plays 3-5-2, but putting 2 and 2 together to make 3-5-2 would be a cart-before-horse sort of argument, as most managers will run with any owner’s template just to secure the job and then proceed to decorate the cart to their liking once in situ. Jose’s final days may well have been a case in point, which is why he wasn’t given the amount of cash he wanted to redecorate anymore - the cart[house] perceived to have fallen into neglect on youth development and Premiership result fronts respectively. Less controversially, Edwards and Morris might just be a couple of likely lads who have shown initiative in their field, though I wouldn’t completely rule out instruction coming from On High in favour of this and if Guus suddenly starts to perm any three from Branna, Jt, Cahill and Miazga at the back, whilst instructing Dave and Baba to bomb up and down the flanks for ninety minutes, it might be time for a rethink on that front too!

El Confidencial is back with more on the Simeone-story today. Would love him to be honest.

I thinks hes right behind pep/jose, i think he would have more of a pull ie (players joining)rather than say allegri/conte would

Having researched a bit about allegri, it appears he actually favours 4312, which he used mainly at milan, and has implemented on and off this season at juve.

I think he stuck with conte's 352 as it was very successful.

If he does take over, I doubt we would go to 3 at the back, which us a plus for me, especially if we also go 2 up top sometimes.

Would just like to know who's coming in, so we can move on from this depressing season, the whole who's to blame Jose/ players/Roman /Emmanuel or whatever his fu.king name is and look forward to next season.

I have to agree. The sooner we know, the better it will be for everyone club included

Don't forget high waisted trousers (bell bottoms) were very fashionable back then. And yes it makes his upper body very small :) but this style screams money!

Btw those 3 blokes worked for Arsenal. I think guy I the middle is a manager, correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit, nope guy in the middle is West Ham manager and guy on right from Arsenal - Peter Marinello.

i would be content with any of conte, allegri or simeone. only issue with simeone is his style of play, but he's usually only defensive vs madrid and barcelona so he's not so bad. conte and simeone are probably the best options in regards to motivating the players, and allegri for his tactics.

From what I have seen, Simione's football has 10 mins of insane pressing and 80 mins of defending. I think he is even more defensive than Jose.

Nope again - guy in the middle is Geoff Hurst, never managed West Ham.  You're right about Peter Marinello - I'd already said that on the previous page!

And I think the guy on the left  is Bob McNabb?

These people will keep trying to bring this thread back on topic won't they?

For what it's worth, I am a huge Jose supporter. If Jose was sacked for not playing attractive football which many claim Roman craves, Simione is not the man for it.
