Chelsea vs Everton - Sat 16 Jan - 15:00

Featured Replies

It was nice to finally get the rub of the green from a referee ... We've waited long enough.

I like Guus, he's a breath of fresh air and hopefully, this unbeaten run, few wins accepted continues ...

However, I thought the initial line-up today was a shocker, tbh.

Kennedy should have started over Pedro and RLC over Matic.

These are exactly the same mistakes made by Jose. Rewarding the non- performers.

I suspect Guus will do the same again at Arsenal away, next week ...

I felt that our overall performance was decent and a draw was fair result IMO. It was a great comeback and I hope this result will boost the team's confidence in the upcoming games.

Well, I'm going to be blunt here, our performance in the first 60 min was terrible especially when we're attacking. We didn't create much when we got the ball then. Some of our players were also running like headless chickens and unnecessarily lost possession as result. Bad defending from us caused Everton to score all of their three goals too.

For Everton's first goal, we should've done a better job getting the ball off Lukaku. If my memory serves me right, Lukaku isn't someone who is known for his first touch and ball control so I'm quite surprised to see him beat 3 of our guys (Dave, Matic and Mikel). Matic has been in bad form for quite awhile now and that failed tackle attempt (and slip) sums up his season. Well, if we were to zoom in to see the own goal again, you can see that Terry was actually very unlucky. He was already able to clear the ball but it bounces off the heel of his trailing leg. Anyway, that doesn't excuse how badly we defended during the buildup and our defenders shouldn't be playing so narrowly in the box.

(My apologies for the low fps of the first gif on the left. The whole buildup and goal was about 11 seconds and it'll be unwatchable if I made it at a higher fps.)

Everton scored a good one for their second. But once again, our defending was awful and we should've cleared the cross before it finds its target. Our defence was all over the place in the box and Baines could even make a cross to the far left with the amount of space we left back there. Great goal nonetheless.

I don't think we should've allowed them to score their third. Both Zouma and Ivanovic were ball watching and shouldn't have let their guards down at such a late stage. Even Lukaku could've scored that if Funos Mori can't get to that cross.

Thankfully, after conceding the first two goals, we finally got our sh*t together and played much better football than the first 60 min. The introductions of Oscar and Kenedy did improve our attacking play considerably and I'm glad to see our efforts paid off. Costa and Fabregas have been in good form recently and I hope these two continue to play like this towards the end of the season. Hopefully Costa's injury won't be too severe as we desperately need him to play more often.

Anyway, I'm delighted that our lads didn't give up and put up a good fight towards the end. I honestly thought we would lose this when Everton scored their second but wow, I'm amazed and proud of our team. Terry's goal was a big one and his celebration clearly showed how much it meant to him, his teammates and the fans. Absolutely love it.

We're undefeated in 7 games now and we're facing the Gooners next week. Make no mistake, it'll be a tough game and we can't afford to make the same mistakes against a stronger side. Here's hoping our team to put up a better performance and smash these bar stewards next Sunday.

Onwards and upwards, lads.

/\ We're still so uneven aren't we...we can pull it out, as you say what a comeback...our problems in defence have been known for a while. I hope Costa is fit for Arsey and I hope the team has the same determination they had to go from being two goals down to seeing out the game without dropping points.

lets not kid ourselves  the club and team are a shambles, we maybe 7 unbeaten but one win and one lose from our two home games would have been a better return.

now to the club its self who ever has been overseeing the transfers needs sacking will spend 21m on baba who never plays we spend 21m on pedro who must be the worst spanish player in the league ,we spend 21m getting matic back after giving him away a shocking player,

the club and team need a complete clear out and start again

Absolutely robbed here. I'd be embarrassed if we were granted the draw like that. A terrible performance capped off by an offside, over-time goal.

Haha same thing happened against Bournemouth I think your lot took nearly 2mins to celebrate then wonder why the game goes on longer and Bournemouth score! Tell your mates so they understand too, if your into added time and a team starts time wasting (as in not restarting the play wen the ball is out or a goal is scored) the time will be added on to the already added on time. Open your ears mate they always say a minimum of 'x' minutes when talking about added time. As for the offside it tough luck happens to every team.

I was at a home game against Everton a couple of years ago. Only a row of stewards between me and the away support. I have to say a huge majority of Everton supporters were vile scum. So he'll rub it up them.

Motd giving us their standard unbiased review of a Chelsea match. The bunch of twats.

Also I can't believe how little has been said about the skill involved in JTS goal, it was an unbelievable finish for any player let alone a centre back.

As good as it was you can't really credit an offside goal, it's hardly gonna make goal of the month lol. last season I felt we were poor at times yet they still licked our boots on motd, this season I can't see one thing they have to praise us with were playing like a mid / bottom table team yet we have I think the highest wages in the league.

I get DKW's post, I think the point is to the very last JT didn't give up. He took a chance and his skill and experience made that chance more viable than not. Had he hesitated, perhaps to think am I onside, we'd be 2-3 down this morning.

Anyway, if Everton hadn't milked the celebration we wouldn't have a debate as the match ending would have been brought forward due to less time being added for over exuberance, unwarranted imho.

MoTD wasn't as you suggest, you seem a jaded Blue, Chelsea blue that us, unless...

I think Moyes was fairly balanced on MoTD. He was there to comment on Everton in end—and was absolutely right about their left hand side dominating proceedings—and the Terry goal had to take precedent anyway. Surprised they didn't talk about Everton's defensive lapses which clearly cost them, but other matches to get to.

Remember, Moyes might be our manager next season too ;) ...

I wonder if Funes Mori might have been able to head the ball better, if one of his own thieving fans hadn't knicked his protective headband.

For quite a few stitches in his head wasn't it? Unbelievable!

It being offside shouldn't detract from the skill it took to score that goal, by a centre back as well.

This was against West Ham on Boxing Day 2014. You can see the guy on the very right in the middle has a WH hat on.

Also Terry scored at the Matt Harding stand, whereas the oppo fans were at the other end.

Yep, clearly pikeys in the photo

Seem to remember us playing crap towards the end of last season and grinding out key results to clinch the league. Picking up points whilst playing badly is well worth having your 'boots licked'.

And yesterday, how about the fact we came back from a two goal deficit, then salvaged a draw at the death in large part for continuously knocking the door.

Well I've never walked out of a game in 48yrs of watching football at Stamford Bridge, but at half time time yesterday I nearly did. £100k + a week for walking around, no interest, no enthusiasm, nothing. And yet week after week we start with the same old faces and nothing changes until we go behind or on a very rare occasion go I front and give someone a run out for a few minutes. Edit. RLC got a bit of a game plays his heart out, scores a goal and what happens.

Now we're going to buy more reject players and the cycle will go on and on. Really pissed off with this.

I find it really frustrating that our best play this year is when we are chasing games from losing positions. We are badly lacking leadership on the field, players with strong character who will take a game by the scruff of the neck. Costa did it yesterday but the two who we would look to normally are struggling for form themselves.

Van Persie's volley v Villa the other year was offside. That won goal of the season.

They won 3-0. All three goals were offside.
