January 27, 201610 yr But apparently he's choosing to come to us despite offers in China where he could be paid much more to do the same job. That shows he wants to play. As for lazy, surely the club bothered to scout him before signing him The same club who brought in Falcao, Djibfmfrf and that lad we loaned out to the championship? ............
January 27, 201610 yr Or a club that only has one striker so he's almost guaranteed minutes... So Remy, Bamford and Falcao are no longer here? When did this happen............
January 27, 201610 yr Remy is off (no secret there) Falcao is well... Falcao (perma-injured) Bamford needs playing time but isn't trusted at this level (much to mine and most fans annoyance) If we know this then players/agents/clubs must be aware too
January 27, 201610 yr What a joke, the side is calling out for a goalscorer with experience and the club sign this 'has-been' ??and just to rub salt into the wounds he's gonna share the bench with the other ripping success of a loan signing Falcao - the goals will be flooding in from the pair of them thus saving our season thanks ME you're a f'in star. Piece written bout his sitch back in October , lots of hammy problems in AC M, sounds like it went pear shaped for him back in Brazil. He ain't played much lately & him & his agent would bite the hand of any mug team that would get him out of Brazil & pay his wages. Silver lining is that it's only a loan. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/oct/30/alex-pato-premier-league-corinthians-sao-paulo
January 27, 201610 yr I am still dead against this despite the fact it would only be a 6 month loan deal which admittedly makes it much less of a gamble. I guess because we are still in CL, the powers that be feel we need a striker with CL experience should Costa get injured and Falcao remain as sh*te as he has looked so far. But I would much prefer us show some faith in one of Bamford, Traore or even Abraham. Give them the game time now so we can evaluate them and help make decisions for next season and beyond. To take the route of "once great stiker but now past it and sh*te" yet again after Schevchenko, Torres and Falcao, are we really learning NOTHING from mistakes? Edited January 27, 201610 yr by Nibs

Ever. Period. More chance of Abramovich buying Spurs and merging the 2 clubs Bamford I would expect to see given the odd cameo next season. Traore another who i think will be lucky to be here by next Tuesday, and into next season. None of us have seen enough of Pato to judge how good he is/isnt, how well he may or may not do. Reading blogs and the opinions of Corinthians fans is also a less than accurate way to judge a player. Edited January 27, 201610 yr by RickUK
January 27, 201610 yr This is a good try. Not a gamble at all. In the prem you need pacy players and he has pace. Might end up being a great thing.

I might get lucky and shag Kate Upton. Chances are though................... I know you have to judge each player on merit but you can't help look at our track record on strikers of this ilk and wonder if the club will ever f**king learn. Yet again it is short-term thinking and I'm still hoping the deal doesn't go through. Edited January 27, 201610 yr by Nibs
January 27, 201610 yr http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/10145694/ramires-joins-chinese-side-jiangsu-suning-from-chelsea Welcome lad Lets hope he puts a shift in and gets back to scoring goals.
January 27, 201610 yr Pato has been playing left wing recently. He's not a striker. He plays behind the striker. If we signed him as back up to Costa then our scouting team have been watching the wrong player.
January 27, 201610 yr An interview on SS shows he speaks good English, so thats a good start, and he's a handsome bugge, compared to the devilishly good looking Costa, lol

January 27, 201610 yr He's naturally a striker who can also play in advanced positions behind the striker re Remy. It was the master tactician Silvio Berlusconi who insisted he play through the middle at AC Milan. His best position has always been on the left wing playing off a main striker and running at defenders according to the player himself. https://www.whoscored.com/Articles/ivbuvuepcugtnvbjvn4qdq/Show/Player-Focus-Pato-Beginning-to-Shine-for-Sao-Paulo-After-Change-of-Position

Wow
January 27, 201610 yr Could mean he actually ends up getting more minutes. Especially if Costa hits for again (fingers crossed)
January 27, 201610 yr nice goal for milan vs barcelona after 24 secs. shows the pace he used (maybe still has?) to have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=artTKcYwRpg&feature=player_embedded I recall seeing that goal on tv at the time. Was struck with the speed of the whole thing.
January 27, 201610 yr He may be lazy now, but you can't get to being in the Brazilian team by being lazy. He clearly has put the time and effort in at some point. The question is going to be how much of his original pace he still has and whether he can stay injury free. Can't be worse than falcao. I think this is a smart enough deal, bamford did nothing special in his last loan outing.
January 28, 201610 yr Back in September, "Two hours before [the window closed] I had a very good offer from Manchester United," Pato told Sportv, although he did not give any further details of the proposed deal." That makes Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea, Sporting, Benfica that were interested in him. Surely if he could amass interests from these clubs he isn't a deadhorse as most fans think. January 28, 201610 yr You would hope. However United thought bringing in falcao last season was a good idea so...
January 28, 201610 yr Gotta say, very low wages, loan deal, zero risk and could score a few goals. Happy with how this has turned out.
January 28, 201610 yr You would hope. However United thought bringing in falcao last season was a good idea so...In fairness they bought him after he had just recovered from a bad injury and when he played before that he was good so....
January 29, 201610 yr Pato is one of the best potential deals Chelsea have made in recent times. Very low risk, very high talent and has qualities that would really help Chelsea in an area of need.
