January 24, 201610 yr Sorry but disagree. Jose himself spoke about some players (Cesc, Diego, Matic, Pedro) which he personally involved himself in their deals. It's not first team signings (although I think we failed miserably over the summer) but those intended to add strength in depth. Papy, Salah, Cuadrado, Rhaman the recent examples. I don't think they were manager signings but club ones. Then the wisdom to keep handing lengthy contract extensions to squad players such as Mikel and Ramiers, its means the squad stagnates and doesn't evolve. Basically I feel that by failing to freshen up and add quality depth has been a contributing factor in our plight.

After all these years and not being a bore about bench duty... why do people even bash Mikel? Yes, he's limited, but he's been a dedicated servant all these years and you can always fall back on him when you're lost.

It's handing a 4 year extension to players who aren't regular starters. It breeds complacency in my opinion. You need a sense of turnover within the squad to keep things fresh and ensure we're providing high quality competition to the starting XI.
January 24, 201610 yr Thank god the manager has a say and we arent letting Emenalo run the show. What makes you think a manager would make better signings than Emenalo?. Its almost like people forget all the good signings he makes like Lukaku,KDB,Courtois,Zouma Azpi etc but only remember the bad ones.
January 24, 201610 yr todays victory really brought home that we are desperate for another striker in this window, if diego is crocked we are knackered as remy looks awful !! get somebody in pronto who is fit and ready to go, or at least start using bamford
January 24, 201610 yr Thank god the manager has a say and we arent letting Emenalo run the show. Question is why would Guus get the power to veto a deal but Jose did not?
January 24, 201610 yr Question is why would Guus get the power to veto a deal but Jose did not? How do you know Mourinho didnt have the power to veto? It's just paper speculation. No one knows what happens at that level for chelsea.
January 24, 201610 yr How do you know Mourinho didnt have the power to veto? It's just paper speculation. No one knows what happens at that level for chelsea. Am guessing he did not want Papy nor Hector signed, he would have surely given the former more of a go had he wanted him.
January 25, 201610 yr I don't support this acquisition. He is not sound enough defensively to be a lone striker, he is a bit too selfish and he is also quite inconsistent. He's not that great a finisher, either. You would have to use him in conjunction with Diego Costa to get the best out of him, rather than as an injury replacement.

Its almost like people forget all the good signings he makes like Lukaku,KDB,Courtois,Zouma Azpi etc but only remember the bad ones. Because ultimately it should be up to the manager. He picks the team, why sign players he doesnt want. Im not saying Emenalo is sh*t at signing players, I think he is but thats beside the point, but if the manager doesnt fancy a player why would you sign him? Its good to see the manager has a say so in the signing of players. It seemed like Jose didnt last summer.

Actually there's a board (owner included) that endorses all transfers, Emenalo scouts and recommends players to the manager and board, he doesn't sign them. Little we know tell us Marina and co do.
January 25, 201610 yr mail reporting the deal is being finalized, loan with option to buy, similar to falcao's

Little we know tell us Marina and co do. Either way shouldnt the manager have veto over whom they actually sign? Surely we arent about to bring in someone the manager doesnt want.
January 25, 201610 yr After Remy's shocker of a cameo yesterday and Falcao continuing to steal a leaving from the club from the treatment table I'd welcome this deal, especially if it is short term.

January 25, 201610 yr Sources at Corinthians have informed Sky Sports News HQ that a deal is in place with Chelsea to take Alexandre Pato to Stamford Bridge. But interim Blues manager Guus Hiddink has reservations about concluding a deal in the current transfer window. Sky Sports understand the agreement to sign the player, who is on loan at Sao Paulo, was reached when Jose Mourinho was still in charge at Chelsea.
January 25, 201610 yr After Remy's shocker of a cameo yesterday and Falcao continuing to steal a leaving from the club from the treatment table I'd welcome this deal, especially if it is short term. Thing is if you don't get games you lose match sharpness and form. Whoever comes in will suffer the same fate if not given some game time. People who expect players to perform to the highest standards when they are not getting any consistent football don't understand how it works tbh
January 25, 201610 yr Am guessing he did not want Papy nor Hector signed, he would have surely given the former more of a go had he wanted him. Yeah but from all accounts it seems he wanted falcao and got him. I don't think any player was forced on Mourinho this time around. Papy was an emergency option incase we got injuries and hector isn't in our team anyway. If anything I think Mourinho had more control over transfers than most before him, especially with regards to players he didn't want. We failed him with regards recruitment in the summer, but we were chasing 'his targets' stones and pogba.
January 25, 201610 yr Either way shouldnt the manager have veto over whom they actually sign? Surely we arent about to bring in someone the manager doesnt want. Not if youre interim. If the board want Pato, theyll sign him even if Hiddink is on his hands and knees begging them not to. Just the way it is. Only way Pato doesn't join will be if the board decide hes not wanted any longer
January 25, 201610 yr The shocking little cameo by Remy just made this loan deal a lot easier on us. It will be a 4-5 months trial for him, we don't pay a lot in fee and wages. Ideally we should have snapped up the Charlie Austin, but we could have him for 50M in a few years time after he has a 20 goals season
January 25, 201610 yr Personally I think mourinho damaged the team with the transfers over the last two seasons. Fabregas and Costa were excellent but losing salah, schurle, de bruyne, mata knocked around our attacking options too much. I keep coming back to rlc. He really deserves a start.
January 25, 201610 yr After Remy's shocker of a cameo yesterday and Falcao continuing to steal a leaving from the club from the treatment table I'd welcome this deal, especially if it is short term. It looked to me like Remy pulled something very soon after coming on. He had a couple of good runs, grabbed his leg after a challenge and then started playing like I do. I really do think he injured himself again, so I am prepared to forgive that performance.
