Alexandre Pato

Very odd transfer glad it's a loan rather than a permanent by the looks of it I assume he would take the place of our other injury prone Loanee.

I don't understand why his club would loan him if he was doing so well. Can anyone explain? Why do they want rid?

He was on loan at Sao Paulo from Corinthians, when Corinthians changed manager, apparently, he didnt want Pato so they shipped him out to Sao Paulo and now that loan is up and hes got time left on his contract so Corinthians are sending him out on loan again to us. I think its a risk free gamble. Low wages and only a 6 moth deal, if it goes well we get him for cheap, sub £10m, if it goes wrong or the new manager doesnt want him, its only cost us a reported 30k a week.

From Brazilian (including Corinthians fan) football fans:

"His first two years in Brazil were not very good, played poorly for Corinthians and São Paulo. His 2015 season was better though.

Mostly 'cause he started being used wide instead of playing as a striker. He already said that he's more confortable on a wide position.

The thing is: I'm not sure Chelsea need wide players right now. Sure, he could be a backup for Costa, but since he hasn't achieved much as a striker in the Brazilian League, I'm not sure he'd cut it on the Premier League. He's still fast and is technically gifted, though.

Worth adding that the gamble is relatively low-cost one. Brazilian Real is pretty weak right now, and that means Pato's wages are just around £30k per week."

"Corinthians has a good reason to hate him, the sh*t penalty ended things in Corinthians for him, but he had been burning bridges well before that.

I remember an interview after Corinthians lost 2-0 (I think) and he went something like:

"Well, I did my part, but service wasnt getting to me and the defense conceded twice."

And then he didnt show up to training the next day."

"he was consistently poor while playing for us, with one average/good followed by 3 or 4 bad games. He didn't get along with the other players too, there's a rumour that after this missed penalty some Corinthians players went and tried to fight him in the locker room.

Corinthians hated him so bad that they sent him to one their biggest rivals (São Paulo) while still paying his salary, and they got Jadson in exchange. Jadson was one of the top Corinthians players in 2015, helping immensely the team to win the brazilian league. After going to São Paulo, Pato started to talk some sh*t against Corinthians, to there's no room for him there anymore.

But it's true he got a little better while playing for São Paulo, so let's see how it will pay of for Chelsea."

"Not just that, he disrespected the club, constantly mocked Corinthians, in copa do Brazil when asked who's gonna win he said Palmeiras (one of the biggest rivals of Corinthians)

dude was and still is a complete c**t, tho i wish him luck at Chelsea"

also, apparently the Corinthians ultras went after him at the training ground after he (they say deliberately) missed this penalty to lose them a semi final in some big cup in South America:

Assuming he's been brought in as a striker, I can't see him getting many opportunities to play at all if Diego Costa keeps fit. So I've got a feeling this will turn out to be like the Quaresma signing where he won't get an opportunity to show what he's got and therefore we won't pursuit buying him in the summer

Just admit you miss him!

My life has felt empty since he deserted us for Juventus.

His terrible hair, his ill fitting jersey, his complete inability to be able to play football... what wasn't to love?

Ah, the doyen of professionalism I see.

Thank the Lord it's only a 6 month loan deal.

Should fit right in

But apparently he's choosing to come to us despite offers in China where he could be paid much more to do the same job. That shows he wants to play. As for lazy, surely the club bothered to scout him before signing him
