Everton v Chelsea FA Cup

Featured Replies

I assume Martinez will conveniently fail to notice that Lukaku's second was enormously offside.

They didn't bother to show any replays that would show that, all pitch side angles funnily enough, dunno why.

The worst part of Lukaku scoring is we'll have to suffer through hundreds of posts about how we should have kept him and blah blah Jose f**ked up blah blah.

Its all BS, im sick of it. He wanted to start, he wouldnt have here so he asked to leave and we sold him. End of story.

A manager that can't keep the most promising young number 9 in the premier league happy should be held responsible for him handing a transfer request in. Lukaku deserved a chance here, mourinho didn't want to give it to him. Give it 2 years this mourinho cock up will rate as highly as the man u pogba cock up.

costa gets the ball then walks around waiting to get fouled, lukaka gets it and goes for goal

Different type of players. Costa is a goal poacher who likes the ball played to him quickly, Lukaku likes to smash through defenses. Costa isn't capable of running through defenses like Lukaku, only Fabregas seem's to understand this for us though. Everytime Costa runs through the middle, he is waiting for someone to play it early but it never happens. Willian, Pedro, Hazard, Oscar, Matic, they all take forever to play the ball to him, it's only Fabregas that understands Costa's game. It's a joke really, they have been playing for the team together for 2 seasons now, they should know what type of striker Costa is.

If you're looking in terms of Lukaku's development, then those loans seem like great moves. Does he develop in the Chelsea environment equally well? I don't know.

If the best coach in the world can't coach him to be better after having two successful spells, what does that say about the best coach in the world?

How is it short sighted? You serious?

This whole idea of Lukaku wanting to be first choice doesn't wash with me, sounds like an excuse tbh. He wanted to play, Jose chose not to use him, at all. He was clearly a talented player who would make it and it was an absolutely awful decision to let him go and so many people thought so at the time. That is why mourinho is getting criticism, because he deserves criticism for an awful decision and a complete lack of man managment.

Will you give him credit for the Costa signing?

Look, I get why people want to pin everything on Jose. It's easy because he's gone and you want to believe that means we'll move forward. Go for it, but let's at least be fair with the guy's legacy.

He sold Lukaku, he brought in Costa. You want to criticise one transfer I think you have to at least acknowledge the other.

Costa wasn't on the scene. Mourinho went short term with the Eto'o signing

Trouble was though Mourinho preferred Torres ,Eto'o and Ba to coaching him proper. He had played his part with two successful loans, he rightfully would want to know why Eto'o was signed to play before him.

Eto'o wasnt at the club when we sold him.

Our winger playing left back played him on.

Awful trully awful.

No fight out there.

Cant blame ex players or ex managers for todays performance.

Total lack of a backbone.

Story of most of the season.

Mass exodus in the summer, and i think anyone who wants to go should go.

We need players with fight and bottle and most of all heart.

Lets home jt stays another year as i cant really see anyone out there who really gives a f**k.

Well, we certainly don't do half measures. This whole season's been a train wreck.

Well done anyway Lukaku, that first goal was very Drogba-esque.

A lot of changes needed in this side. There's no point in listing what we need, it's all obvious. It'll be interesting to see who shows up for the remainder now there's nothing but pride to play for.

If anyone saw the game today, they would know given this current Chelsea midfield that even if Lukaku was not sold and started this game, HE would have hardly have had any service and would have had to drop deep like Costa did. Also Everton would have had some other good striker who would have scored 2 goals against our dangly defense. We let Steven Naismith score a hatrick against us and we think Everton are good cos of Lukaku ? No folks !!! We are that sh*t !!!!

If the best coach in the world can't coach him to be better after having two successful spells, what does that say about the best coach in the world?

It's not just that though. If Jose says that Costa is his number one and Lukaku isn't happy with that, then what's Jose supposed to do? The amazing thing is that I doubt this discussion happens if Lukaku doesn't score and it definitely doesn't if that shot from Costa does.

But I understand that didn't happen and recency bias creeps in, so the decision to sell Lukaku is immediately a bad one regardless of the intervening 18 months. Gotta love sports eh?

Youd be right except Jose wanted him to stay. And theres no telling what he would be if we hadnt loaned him previously. He asked to leave because he wanted to start. We couldnt promise him that because at the time he wasnt good enough for us to pick over Costa every week. End of story.
