Everton v Chelsea FA Cup

Youd be right except Jose wanted him to stay. And theres no telling what he would be if we hadnt loaned him previously. He asked to leave because he wanted to start. We couldnt promise him that because at the time he wasnt good enough for us to pick over Costa every week. End of story.

What, so if we kept mourinho we couldn't have more than 1 good striker because he couldnt find a way of keeping both happy.

Willian has also been crap since the Norwich game. He put in so much effort in the early part of the season that I think he might have burnt out.

True, i can accept Willian's burnout though, he has been the only player that has been consistent this season, and he didn't even get an end of season break like the others, he was playing in the Copa America for Brazil in the summer.

I can't see how anyone can truly believe this mess is down to any one individual. This clusterf**k is clearly a team effort and one where it's impossible to even begin to work out who started it.

Mourinho undoubtedly played a role in it between selling of talented young players, kicking off with doctors and so on.

Emanelo is definitely involved with his contribution to terrible signings and maybe outbound transfers too.

The players can't dodge this because they're all bloody international footballers.

And Roman has to carry a lot of the blame because he is ultimately responsible for everything. He makes the final decisions (or chooses not to) and he could have not hired or fired or not fired any other person at this club.

Anyway, another sh*t performance which is now a case of as expected and in a way I'm not to disappointed we've been knocked out because the last thing we need at this time is anything that could in any way paper over any of the multitude of cracks.

I just hope to god that this unprecedented disaster of a season leads to some serious and positive changes. I'm not holding out much hope of that, but if they don't want to have one of the worlds best stadiums being home to a mid table outfit they really need to do something. It's time for revolution, not evolution.

Fair points ... we need someone like Mata or DeBruyne, who get goals and assists for fun from the #10 role ... :)

Oscar has the same number of goals as mata in 6 less appearances.

Scores for fun!

I think i'm more pissed off at Guus' subs than anything. Not having Pato on the bench, Remy instead or Traore, Oscar came on and it crumbled once again and Terry up top????

Now thats more like it. Very troubling in his handling of substitutes.

If the younger players dont see much game time with nothing left to play for it will be as if 2 months of the season didnt happen.

Very good points made. I blame the board personally, Mourinho was never going to be a long term solution looking at his track record. If we want a dynasty we should've got someone like Klopp in.

We got top money for a player that will never make it at the top level.

there are very few elite strikers in the game now and to be fair to Lukaku he possesses a range of abilities and a potential that could very well see him become recognised as a great striker - he probably needs to change to a bigger club. Wouldn't it be rich if Mourinho ends up at United and they buy him?

Klopp, who resigned from his last job because his team was in relegation form.

Not when one of them wants to play every match and asks for a transfer, no.

I would have seen us play with 2 strikers in that case but Jose is far better than me as a coach so I cant tell you how he would have made that work since he's never used 2 in the past.

The whole idea of crediting him for Costa opens another can of worms for me I'm afraid. According to some all signings that go well are "Jose signings". Where as all signings that are crap are evil Eminalo and the interfering board messing up Jose's masterplan. For me he's responsible for ALL our signings Good (Costa for the most part), bad (Matic) and awful (Cuardrado).

So Matic is now a bad signing is he?

I think what some people do is look at the profile of the player and they can see who is the primary motivator for such a move.

I'm not pinning everything on Jose and I find it a bit condescending that you say I'm doing so because it's easy, I'm not. I'm blaming him for things that I feel are down to him i.e. the mishandling of Lukaku and the current squad being worse than the one he inherited

I not being condescending. You say it's worse than the one he inherited and I agree, the one he inherited had a lot of potential. Potential doesn't always win you trophies and that's what he did. Clearly the club wanted to build one type of team and he took it in a different direction. When it needed reinforcements in the summer, they failed.

There's plenty of blame to go around but it's boring to just talk about lukaku today when we were poor in a number of areas.

Come on, we could have won this had we played decent game, but they were crap too. Do you really think they deserved to win? Were they better than us? Only at kicking and with a little help from the ref. A disgraceful performance from the ref and Everton. A fair result would have been a draw.

Chin up lad!

He's a carthorse, and you need racehorses at CL level.

Anyone who watched that match and thinks that it was decided purely on Lukaku's sale....I'm envious.

That just means we don't have to sell a young Belgian striker again. That's easy to do.

Thank heavens we don't have to do something difficult like examine the whole way we play football, how we develop youngsters, our transfer policy and the way we treat coaches of this club. That would be more than a weekend's work and with the sun coming out there's decking to stain.

Don't sell Belgian strikers.

Don't sell Belgian strikers.

Diego Costa is 27. It's not like we signed some old fart to play up front. This is a guy in the prime of his career, he helped us win the league and his transfer fee was massively offset by selling a player who had massive potential and didn't want to play second fiddle, quite understandably.

My issues with this club are numerous but Costa is a very valuable asset and one of the few players who has fight in him, occasionally to excess. He's someone we can build around going forward so I don't think it was that bad a deal in either the short or long-term.

If we don't sign Eto'o, Lukaku stays. He gets his chance and probably with the right coaching would have flourished in our shirt. He asked for the loan after the prospect of being No 3 striker was held before him. Wether from there we go on and sign Costa, who can tell? What we do know though is that he has gone on to show every bit of promise that the fans were hoping to see,  ditto De Bruyne. We've had a short term strategic plan that has now come back to bite us firmly on the arse. Trouble is unless something changes we are going to be looking at the likes of Musonda, Solanke, Baker and Abraham plying their trades at other clubs instead of our own.
