Chelsea vs. PSG (CL) 09/03/16 KO: 19:45 BST

Been here before, seems like de ja vu. The whole absolutely no chance, can't see them winning it. But we all know CFC loves the underdog tag. Fully expect us to qualify, how? I have no idea. COYB (Hope Costa scores the winner, really hate their feed on twitter, c*nts).

Have a good feeling that this will go to penalties.

A tough game, but I think we'll prevail.

Come on Chelsea.

We either need to demolish them or we likely go out - can't see them not scoring against us so we will need to be beat them well or get a 2-1 and take it to penalties.

Gutted that this could be JT's last chance of champions league football with Chelsea and he's out injured!!

Trying to be positive though, lets smash the bar stewards!!!

Not feeling very confident for tonight, but who knows? In any cae, I hope to see a good match in which we put intensity and pressure. And I don't want it to go to penalties, I have to get back home and go to work tomorrow! So  C'mon Chelsea!  ::ChELSeAFaN::

Why Wallosh?. 442 is the rage atm (Ask Claudio). Was outdated at some point but seems veteran coaches and some other few have wised up and use against the modern 4231 system. Even Dinosaur wenger used it in their 4-0 annihilation of Hull last night.

Am not sure our players can suddenly adapt to that formation.

We seen the result last year...

And what did Kevin De bruyne with chelsea ? What did Sneidjer or Robben with madrid ? What did Veron with the red devils ? That's can happen to every players, don't be mean.

We'd never seen a player like this since Jean-Eudes Maurice, the legendary Haitian striker, Stambouli is unique, you may have Abramovich money but you will never had Jean-Louis Gasset networks, deal with it.

Troll confirmed

I worry that we are going to show too much respect to PSG at the bridge and leave ourselves too much to do in the last few moments

I will not mind if we get knocked out trying to take the game to them & I truly believe if we put their back line under consistent pressure they will crumble

Considering a 1-0 will do it for us, I have to wonder whether Guus will line up cautiously and attempt to nick the game with a single goal. They found it far too easy to penetrate us down the middle during the last game, and I think a lot of that is down to the fact that we only had a two-man midfield. Due to Guus' general caution during the bigger games, I would anticipate us matching their 4-3-3, with a midfield of Mikel, Matic, and Fabregas. The implication of this is that Pedro (assuming he is fit) possibly becomes a better option in our front three than Hazard, as he possesses a greater goalscoring threat, and is obviously in far better form. I consider Willian and Costa, at this point in time, to be undroppable. This also leaves us with the options of Hazard and the on-form Traoré on the bench; in addition to Oscar (and possibly Pato) that gives us a fair amount of backup attacking strength to call upon.

If Terry is still unavailable (and he seems to have indicated that he is) then the back five picks itself (unfortunate as for this I would far prefer the Ivanovic-Azpilicueta full-back combo than the Azpilicueta-Rahman one). It is all well and good to play Kenedy at left-back against Southampton for 45 minutes when we are 1-0 down (and he is trying to prove a point to Rahman) or against a Norwich side playing a back three, but a key match against PSG is another matter entirely. Win this and it may well lift us for the entire rest of the season; not only will we be in the Champions League quarter-finals, but there is also the chance of us drawing Wolfsburg, PSV (although they still have much to do) or Benfica, three sides I certainly see as beatable, and if we make it to the semi-finals then anything can happen.

That leaves us with:

---------------------------------Courtois

Azpilicueta------------Cahill---------Ivanovic-----------Rahman

--------------------------Matic-----------Mikel

--------------------------------Fabregas

---------------Willian-------------------------------Pedro

----------------------------------Costa

Subs:

Begovic, Kenedy, Loftus-Cheek, Oscar, Hazard, Traoré, Miazga/Rémy/Pato

This is a huge, huge game. For the love of God, please make us proud, or we may not see Champions League football again until September 2017 (assuming we even manage to qualify next season) - a scary thought. I have confidence that we still have a massive performance in us this season, I hope beyond hope that is it this one - good form is its own stimulus.

It's a weird one today. Not got any of the usual butterflies that I get on the morning of a big European night and I think that's because there's so little at stake. We're not the favourites, we're not looking to prove we're the best in Europe because we clearly aren't, I'm not all that bothered about the coach keeping their job and the players aren't exactly people you get behind.

In that sense it's all very relaxed. My biggest concern this evening is that it doesn't rain on the way home to be honest and if Marks and Spencer will still be open when I get off the tube (rock and roll!!!).

As for the match, if Verratti and Matuidi are out then we've got a better chance of causing an upset....because the Champions of England beating some French team is an upset this year. Well done Roman and chums, you've done us proud.

Hopefully it's a good night and the crowd gets going because I'm going to miss these nights if we don't get them for a year. Granted the group stage matches are sh*t, the lack of alcohol is sh*t and you seemingly play the same teams over and over again, but if you're lucky you get a few games a season which are absolutely brilliant. Tonight might actually be one of them.

Bricking it already. So nervous and today is going to be a long day until kickoff.

I think we can do it. It would take the performance of the season but if that were to happen on one occasion tonight is the night. Probably why i am so nervous already too, the hope that we can do this...
Would be massive!

Come on!

In my opinion there's nothing like that feeling before big European games. Nervous / excited as I would be in any other season. We've shown recently that we still have that grit to grind out results. (Arsenal, Norwich and Southampton for example). This lot tonight are a different kettle of fish though so it will be tricky.

But this club has been underdogs in Europe so many times in the past and have overcome odds to get past what's in front of us.

I am hoping for a 2-0 win to see us through, but I cant help but feel they will score.

Come on Chels, into 'em from the first minute and get a nice early goal.

So nervous about tonight already, need a huge game from Costa and Willian I think, Hazard got everything but just cant believe that he's going to produce tonight, I'm hoping that the fact that PSG have been resting players in the league is actually a hindrence to them, look at what happened Bayern in previous years under Pep when they have been resting players, players went in undercooked and not used to intensity of CL battle, Dont know whether Oscar will start tonight, he infuriates me but if he does he will be well up for this and give us some grit in the midfield, just dont know why he cant do that in other games, hoping Pedro is fit but feel it may be too soon after his injury,

Anyway, Come on the Blues, would be great to get one over on these pricks

Don't think Guus can afford to set up like that tbh.

We are not a side who are defensively sound plus we are missing our 2 first choice CB's to boot. We set up defensively to stifle them and we concede early then we are in a dangerous position.

Going by our previous home games at home and in Europe it’s highly unlikely we are going to keep a clean sheet tonight, our biggest strength at the moment is our attacking options like Costa, Willian, Pedro (if fit) and Hazard who really needs to wake up from his season long holiday.

I think we need 3 goals tonight to go through which is a tough, tough ask but if we are going to manage that we cannot set up looking to protect a single goal lead when form shows we can’t keep a clean sheet.

If we are going out then let's at least give it a good go and attack these Frenchies.

I agree but I just feel that the mentality will be keep it tight and we would actually be in a good position if we got to 60 mins still at 0-0, they would be the team under pressure and if this was to happen then I would back us to break down a team thats starting to get nervous and possibly start dropping deeper and deeper every minute, not an insurmountable task to keep them goaless I think if we set up this way,its not as easy for a manager to just say go out and attack them, personally I would attack with caution but none of us are managers here. We really need Willians delivery tonight from set pieces to be excellent, here's to hoping

As I said in my post.. An early goal would be ideal. Would open the game up and would naturally make them more attacking and take more risks - we've shown before we are capable of soaking up pressure and then delivering a quality counter attack.
