Who should be our new captain?

Featured Replies

Fabregas as the captain is one of the funniest things i have heard. Honestly. I mean the guy to crumbles at the first sight of pressure, is a massive bottler, a proper mercenary, and is now wearing the armband. JT's successor will be Cesc Fiberglass??? Unbelievable.

Yeah a guy who has won the world cup, European championship, EPL title, La Liga, CL and countless other trophies is a bottler.

What tripe

Ivanovic (CB) or Cahill for me. Let them have it for a couple of years and then when they move on Zouma will be older enough to inherit it.

I also wouldn't be against Cesc having it, has shown passion for the club this year in interviews and on the pitch.

Fabregas aint a bottler but, much like Denzel Washington, I have never been able to warm to the guy.

It will probably be Ivan in the end though, like most people here are saying.

For me Ivan is to much of a hothead to be captain

That and he's not very good anymore.

A captain shouldn't be getting dragged about the park being made look like an idiot.

If he's captain and remains at RB it will be a disaster, hopefully Conte has done his homework.

How can you not like Denzel?!

He gets himself in trouble, but doesn't get sent off very often, he's done a lot for the club, if he can play at centre back and prove himself as a reliable player in that position, I'd have no issue with it, this is the only season where I think he's been a let down.

Sadly ........there is no one currently at the club....lwho has the attributes to be our captain....l if JT goes.

Brana Ivanavitch should not be in the team, let alone be captain !

If I was Conte, I would draw up a list of top players ( with lots of character and leadership experience) to recruit and appoint one of them as my capitan.......My guess is .....it will be one of his Italian players......who obviously has good language skills ( obviously being able to speak in English would help with the media duties of a captain )

and thmy own man to come in and be the captain......

Fiberglass?

Definietly a Spurs fan.

So had Pinto. That probably makes him a world class player, right?

What tripe, indeed.

Also, when did cesc win the CL? Not with arsenal, not in his 3 years with Barca (even though they did win the CL thrice in 5 years with out him), and definitely not with us. Infact he has been schooled and taught a lesson in football and character by a 23 year old verratti for 2 years in a row. As for the world cups and euros - you could replace Djemba Djemba with cesc and spain would still have won it.

Also, "countless" other trophies is 1 league cup with us last year. I would not say that should be included in "countless".

Sure. Anyone who does not like a player half-arseing his way through half a season and then wathing people write that they would like said player (who has a history of throwing pizzas, spitting at players) as their captain and that too to replace JT is well... by definition a spurs fan.

You haven't warmed to Denzel? WTF? Guts like the best actor in the planet IMO.

Cesc can come off as a prick sometimes.

Azpilicueta would be my first choice. Keeps calm, positive attitude, always puts in a good effort, can communicate with Spanish speakers in their language.

Cahill would be my next choice.

Like the rest of the team then.

Yes, And thats the reason no one wants Hazard, Costa, pedro, oscar, matic to be our next captain.

People are asking for azpi, willian - undoubtedly 2 players who have given their ALL at every moment or Cahill/Ivanovic who well, simply are not good enough but also fall under the azpi-willian category.

I can already imagine how much cesc would "care" and "lift" the team when he cant be arsed to turn up for half a season.

The thing that some people look at is how good how bad a player is. The big thing about a captain is how he is thought of by the club and the players on and off the pitch. When a goal goes in against us in a big game, who do the players look to for leadership. Most are internationals, some could be captains for their national teams but you still want someone who will lead by example.

Same could have been said about guys like Drogba, Terry etc when we had poor seasons in the past, take the 07-08 season for example we had a complete collapse that season but managed to get out of it when we brought Hiddink in etc. Yet those players turned it around and showed once again what great players they were. This lit are not the first to disappear for a large portion of the season. Your reasoning makes no sense to me.

I dont remember us finishing 9th in the league or EVER being 17th with 1 point above the relegation zone in DECEMBER with the likes of JT, lamps, DD, cech, cole.

So how can you compare "their" poor seasons (despite being continous CL semi-finalists, top3 in PL, a domestic cup almost every year) to this sh*t on a stick performance and football, is well beyond me. But whatever helps to sail your boat.

Every squad once in a while gets in some trouble. Their might be in-fights and problems, but the club still comes the first. DD had a problem with scholari because he was not getting selected despite having some medical treatment. These players just sold the club and everything with it down the line for half a season. Comparing their characters to the likes of JT, DD, Lamps should be blasphemy.
