Romelu Lukaku

Featured Replies

Everton has already spent about half of the Lukaku money, I expect him to be signed after the International break. True, we made a mistake selling him, thanks for that Jose. We are not the first team or the last team to make such blunders, at least we have the chance to get him back. We won't be getting KDB back for 100M, at least we made a great deal out of Oscar,  the last huge deal before  Chinese transfer market closed.

Id prefer it to be distributed like it is currently, than how they used to do it Spain. It makes for a very competitive league.

Well, yea not 300 mil to the winners and 20 to the lower teams creating a huge gulf like in Spain.

However a bit more of a gap I mean we are almost at parity, the bottom club getting 2/3 of what the champions get, the plus of the Spain model is you get teams that can dominate in Europe.

We are sh*t in Europe at the cost of a more competitive league, if the top 6 got the lions share it would still be competitive but create more funds to challenge in Europe.

I get your point and I agree to an extent but I think somewhere in the middle would better serve English football.

 1. because of the funds and 2. because the games week in week out are too tough making it too draining a league to compete in Europe, the unfortunate truth is a league needs cannon fodder or we get a situation where the best leage domestically performs the worst continentally, because it's just too much to have a hard game every week then play a team who just put 8 past Granada.

so yes I agree more competitive but more share for the top teams for finances and because a bit of a gulf is healthy

The Premier League have made more money in the past 5 years of English teams being sh*t in Europe than any other 5 year spell in the Premier League era. I'm sure they don't care even one bit about English teams doing well in Europe. They've made that clear with their scheduling several times. I see what you're saying and I agree to some extent but it's likely never going to happen.

Well that's the point we have had more money, but because it's distributed so evenly, it makes it too hard, lower teams have budgets now, every game is hard, and yes you're right they don't give a sh*t how we do in Europe the PL is too big a money maker and people are still subscribing to the channels showing CL whether we get to the group stages or win it, whereas the PL will get more money if foreign subscribers have interest in our league, they can't cash in on the CL so it's clear which they prioritise.

Daily Star are reporting that Chelsea have agreed personal terms with Lukaku of £150k a week but there's no news about a price being agreed with Everton...they also say a deal for Bakayoko is close too...make of that as you will...

And my ma always reported that the dinner was on the table when in fact it was still 10 minutes away from being cooked. You learn after a few times to stop believing it

Watched the video of him playing at Chelsea pitch, but he also posted photos on Instagram of him in America 2-3 days ago.

So we've signed him....but we're loaning him to LA Galaxy?

The mistake has been made then, regardless we have to get behind him and support him and probably give him a chance before writing him off.

And in response to the reaction of that 5-a-side video, he went on Twitter saying...

'SMH...hearing all this BS again. It's a just a 5-a-side game, people need to chill'

He is....he isn't....he is...he isn't....

Well he can tease as much as he likes as long as we don't get our pants pulled down by Everton...I'd much rather look at other targets like Morata or Belotti than give those clowns the £80-100m they want...

If we are waiting until July 1 to announce the signings we've made then it fits he wouldn't want to reveal where he's going. That part of the puzzle at least makes sense

We used that facility last summer and they probably haven't changed the banners since its sponsored by Adidas. I doubt they played there to send a message, it's just the nicest 5 a side field they could find in LA

If they get anything more than £40m for a player with less than 2 seasons left on contract that we sold to them then I lose all faith in our transfer negotiations team. And I don't care what the players cost these days. We can't continue to be shortsighted as a club. We all want to win things but that stance directly contradicts the policy of investing in youth and youth infrastructure which we rate quite highly in on a global scale. Yes they may not be ready but they deserve their chance even if it means a dull season of an utter car crash. It's annoying when we fans are squabbling over players who got an opportunity at the clubs they are which they wouldn't have gotten in our club. Saw a stat about Bakayoko playing less mins than Chalobah up till last season but now we are rumored to be ready to spend big on him to give him a position Chalobah should naturally ascend into. It is soul crushing. For me as a fan and I imagine what it'd be like for the players. No surprise about Solanke's stance. And he will be first of several in the near future among the youth. We've already seen it with squad players like lukaku(the irony), de Bryne, Mata, etc.  We are on a long winding road to nowhere.  I love optimism but do we really think in the next 3 years Conte will be our manager? Not happening. The management doesn't allow for that. Conte's style and temperament doesn't allow for that. Our policy of the last decade of chopping and changing managers worked but the need for a real footballing policy that allows managers/coaches to come in and succeed needs to be instituted. I'm not saying don't buy expensive players, but not when you have such an expensive and expansive youth set up. Integrate those players with one or at most 2 overpriced top players. But at the end of the day what do I know. I'm just a fan that doesn't get the full picture and isn't in a position to make such calls. Rant over. But I really am sad about the state of things.

I agree except the player I have in mind is Ake, seems ready to make the next step. Nate needs a bit more time
