Romelu Lukaku

Featured Replies

Gary Linker tweeted that Lukaku was always first choice for united and signed his tweet off with - "fact".

I d wonder if it's true and we're not that interested in Lukaku.

Who's says that we are competing for his services?

no matter you rate him or not - us getting gazumped in transfer this big and this important would be an embarrassment to the board and the club.

Last season when manyoo bought Pobga for a record fee, and then we signed Luiz back, people said then the board were an embarrassment and the club was a joke..........

I was firmly in the Lukaku over Morata camp purely due to his experience in the PL and he pretty much guarantees 15+ Goals per season as a minimum however all things considered Lukaku would probably suit United's style of play far better then ours whereas Morata clearly is more suited to us.

The only question mark I have of Morata is will he be able to get us approximately 20 goals per season? Fans have argued that we don't need a prolific goal scorer in our squad because all our teams chips in however over the last few years we have lost a lot of goals from our team, Lampard, Drogba, Terry even Oscar would chip in with his fair share. I am not sure Cahill will get the same game time he got last year but he was fantastic for us when it came to attacking from set pieces, I am just getting the feeling that the overall team effort of accumulating goals may not be there next season hence it was imperative we get somebody like Lukaku in who most likely would offer us more of a goal threat.

Lets just hope Hazard, Willian & Pedro can get a little more selfish and clinical in front of goal.

1. who says "behind the scenes there is a power battle between Emanuldo who favors Lukaku and Conte who favours Belotti or Morata"
2. if you want to talk exact and definitive things, a rumours subforum in a football club fans forum may not be the best place

if he landed, Pogba would be no more than a luxury sigining for us. no midfielder was on the brink of leaving that needed immediate quality replacement. now we have Costa who clearly have no future in here

Yeah you watch Morinho 'Joe Cole' the arse out of Lukaku...it'll be a car crash of a marriage...

Unless this is your point, didn't Joe Cole have the best years of his careers under Jose. Heights he never hit before or since?

Others would say that he strangled Joe's natural creativity in favor of a dogmatic defensive style...you say tomatoes...

You've got your numbers hopelessly wrong. I don't remember the actual figures as reported, and can't be bothered to look them up, but £5m is more like the amount we paid to re-sign Le Saux. Certainly it was nowhere near £20m which, if true, would have been a world record transfer fee at the time.

Even though both you and I would defend your right to say it, you should not escape ridicule for that piece of homophobic crap. I guess you're OK associating yourself with this stupid line of thought, and I suppose that you won't give a hoot about my criticism. People interested in sensible ways of looking at the world however can only hope you'll come to see things differently at some point.

why is it homophobic? i thought the rent boy chants were because he was rented out to blackburn

Insightful and probably correct...be interesting to see what Matt Law thinks too...

Matt law has been a bit all over the place the past week isn't he usually quite well informed? Indeed if it is true it's great news, means we are serious about keeping conte and I for one would greatly value having him here long term, it would give us an identity, the era of the JT Chelsea is over we are changing and I think he brings the right look to the club.

Haha could well be I'm not that twitter savvy, I've heard his name a lot  dunno if he is any good

Where ever he ends up he will score goals and I think he will help United. Will he be as good, better or worse than Zlatan was for them? Time will tell, whether this ends up being bad for us or not depends on who we turn to. I have a feeling it could end up with Bats starting as our main striker and Llorente coming in as our number 2 but possibly replacing Bats if Conte is not happy with him.

Thought Llorente was out through injury after a car crash?

I actually think bats is better than he gets credit for us but leading the line for us in a title defence and for the CL, surely not. Roman likes marina a lot so he won't fire her but I think she will have a job role switch to head negotiator for canteen procurement.

He acts like a mouthpiece for the Board.  Wonder if he's paid to do so.

Was half right then... he's currently injured although I'm sure he could probably pass a medical with his arm in plaster.

I expect the above to happen.  If the Board isn't willing to sanction a 75 million pound bid for Lukaku, don't expect them to fork out 87 million pounds to trigger Belotti's transfer release clause which Torino is insisting on.  Also, Morata wouldn't be allowed to leave for anything less than what Man Utd is paying for Lukaku.

Same here.  The stock of available quality strikers isn't exactly the best, and those that would be available are going for more money than Roms.
