Romelu Lukaku

and obviously he doesn't have a clue what's going on.

More than you or I in all likelihood.

It makes sense, Emenalo brought Lukaku to Chelsea and Conte brought Morata to Juve. It makes sense that both remain attached to same player as previously.

That negativity on Lukaku...

The guy is proven PL scorer, only 24 years old, he is improving from season to season and still not good enough. When he will sign for United you will watch him scoring and scoring and you will find even a better player in him.

No one not even his biggest critic doubts his ability to score goals, that's not why people don't want him here.

Aubameyang - 63m

Belotti - 75m

Morata - 80m

That's my preference in that order.

if we end up with either of these il be happy tbh. I would have actually taken lacazette plus aubameyang, as both can play up top or out wide, which would let us switch from 352 to 343 seamlessly, eith hazard dropping into the number 10.

A front 3 of hazard aubameyang and lacazette would be devastating on the counter.

Hopefully we get some positive news on the transfer front. It seems like the Lukaku saga will come to an end shortly. I can see why he would go there, especially because of raiola and pogba.

Err...us last season...

Err... Us virtually every season ever.

We have never really played with a goalscoring striker. Didier only managed 20 league goals twice in his career for us, Hasselbaink only did it twice. Anelka got the golden boot in a title winning team and only managed 19!!

Our strikers have much more been about bringing others into play than being out and out goalscorers themselves. Its probably why we havent had any luck with half our fwd choices, they just havent been the type of striker than plays the Chelsea way.

I rolled my eyes when I saw the United story, but I'm chuckling now.

Clearly not a 'done deal' like a lot have said. Everton seem ok with spending all the money before they've got it though.

One things for sure, the attention loving slag Lukaku will be enjoying all this, isn't that right @DonAntonio

In his element mate, I read a BBC post on FB saying Chelsea fans won't be happy Man U win 75 mil bid....I feel I had a party popper it would have went off. Having said that I'd take him over no one or a last minute sh*t replacement, UTD wanted morata if they have Lukaku then I'd be happy with morata, but if I'm honest although morata is a better player, Lukaku guarantees goals that I believe whereas morata has a vibe about him that he could put in a really poor season while adjusting....will I live to regre slagging off Lukaku...maybe

We didn't win the league when Anelka won the golden boot.

I agree we don't need a striker to score over 20 goals a season to win the league, as long as we have plenty of goals from the rest of the team.

Mate, they've got more domestic titles than every club in England bar three. Everton may be many things but little isn't one of them.

You're right, was peeved at their conduct after the Stones saga and now this Lukaku farce

Never wanted him anyway  :blush2:

Seriously though, it's quite funny listening and reading the media trying to keep up with it all. You can feel their desperation and them trying to save face after saying he was definitely going to us all throughout May and June.

...Here we are spending months trying to come to an agreement and United get it done in a matter of hours?

Even assuming that a deal has been agreed between Everton & ManU, what kind of illogical, nonsensical thinking is that?

People are so determined to imagine the worst about our board that they convince themselves of the most appalling drivel.

How so? I've not seen him play.

Doesn't seem to have the same goal scoring record Lukaku does and might not adjust to the league.

He scored more league goals (26 goals, 7 assists) in comparison to Lukaku (25 goals, 6 assists). Torino were bang average as well this season, finishing ninth.

Of course there's risk involved but Belotti is the type of striker who will get the most out of himself. His form has also been impressive for Azzurri so he has proven that he can adapt to different teams and different systems. I am therefore not concerned about his transition to the PL.

He reminds me of Costa in that he's a fighter. He also has energy that reminds me of Suarez. He's a proper workhorse. In terms of his playing style, he's prolific, he has good vision, he can finish with both feet, he's very good in the air and he's quick. You give him a chance and he'll bury it. Nothing fancy from him, just brutal efficiency.

Would be deadly with Hazard and another competent winger feeding him.

Belotti would be a better option than both Lukaku and Morata IMO

how so? he's had one good season. he is still an unknown quantity no matter how many people have watched him the past season. i would say he's more a risk than lukaku 100% because he's not consistent. aubameyang may be the only one.

Antonio wanted Cuadrado at Juve, I don't think we should place too much stock in who his old targets were.

Funny that the Llorente thing never dies, though. Can't imagine a scenario where Bats and Llorente are in the squad at the same time.

i actually don't mind batshuyai, think he's got something about him to be a very good striker. it's just bemusing how many contradicting stories are going around about who conte wants.

When we signed Torres, Falcao "only" had half a good season in the Portuguese league. One season wonder's are usually pretty easy to spot and i just don't see it in Bellotti, he will only get better from here on in.

The thing i worry about with Belotti is that Italian players and players coming from Serie A more often than not end up turning to sh*t when they join the Premier League. Hardly any of them have been good. But saying that, we have actually done ok when signing Italian's and players from Serie A, it's the rest of the league that can't get the best out of them

Lots of guesswork from the press at this time of the year, hardly unusual.

From memory, we've thus far been 'linked' with:

Manolas, Rudiger, Bonnucci, Sandro, Telles, Danilo, Alves, Bakayoko, Chamberlain, Bernardeschi, Lukaku, Morata, Belotti, Sanchez, Llorente, Ronaldo (lol), Bale... the list goes on.

But lukaku was also a target for Conte at Juve. Maybe he does know more than me and you, however, I highly doubt it considering his previous guesses at what the club was up to. I do hope he's right and we are prioritising Morata though.

Belotti was a lot more consistent than Lukaku this season. Rarely had a stinker and always managed to find a way to impact games even if he wasn't scoring. He is the real deal.

We also signed Kante off the back of one good season. That went pretty well. A lot of players we have signed off the back of one good season and they have flourished. Rarely do you see a player pop up with a world class season and be done with it. I'm not denying Belotti is a risk because he is, but I am convinced by him. I have seen enough and you don't just lose that kind of talent overnight.

I'll have to take your word for it on his ability, sounds like a good player and that's a good return for a team like Torino.

That said, I would still rather spend £80m+ on a sure thing like Lukaku than take a unnecessary gamble.

However... we did have a one Mr. Frankie Lampard who was bagging 20 goals or thereabouts instead of the striker some seasons, and our defence was very stingy.

That's the media for you, they don't know as much as they claim to know in their articles.

You forgot my favorite: Lewandowski.

When will people learn that it's all smoke and mirrors during this period of time.  Journos with nothing to talk about so they throw 100 things at a wall and see what sticks.  Would not shock me at all if 90% of the stories are complete hogwash and part of a dream the journo had the night before.

They only get it right when the signing is a day or two away from being completed. Rudiger was supposed to have been signed by now, but here we are, still waiting. They are making it up as they go along.
