November 21, 20196 yr Just predict his downfall every year til you are eventually right, and ergo were right for the past 10 years. Similar to how no clubs will hire him. Then he went to united. And no one would hire him again and back he is.

It is fine charming yet you have to work too and I see he has a new backroom staff with Rui Faria away playing at manager himself.

He appointed AVB just after he crashed with us and has now appointed Jose after spectacular meltdowns at his last two jobs. I'm guessing both gave long winded details about how it was all the players fault and Levy on both occasions brought it hook, line and sinker.

I think he'll surprise a lot of people at Tottenham unfortunately. United was a mess long before he got there and he won the title with us before that. When he's got top strikers he tends to do very well and Harry Kane might be the perfect Mourinho-striker. I actually fear them in the top-4 race again. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if we end up facing them in the knockout-stages of the CL this season. The game against them on December 22nd will be huge.
November 21, 20196 yr One thing is for sure, Jose can’t afford to get this wrong. If it all goes badly, no top club will touch him again. I agree that he could do quite well there as he’s generally quite good at turning “also rans” into champions.

Can't see them being top 4 this season, Jose has never been successful chasing a goal even in his prime (be it top four or title), for him it's always been about getting there and staying there come hell or high water. Whether he ultimately is a success on Tottenham is dependent on one thing, whether he delivers the PL or CL.

He flaps on about football heritage but most of his signings were flops.

Off topic but just been talking to a Spurs mate, who reckons that Poch never played the same lineup consecutively for 55 games. Mind boggling stat’ if true.
November 21, 20196 yr I really think he decided to return now, and even more so to the PL, because his ego couldn't bear Lampard getting praise for how the team are playing and how well he has integrated youth. Mourinho mentioned something many weeks ago where he alluded to Lampard being given the time and having less pressure so integrating youth was simpler for him. I think Mourinho, deep down, hates the praise for others and needs to be in the limelight which is why he was on Sky every second weekend. It is why he's given interviews recently. He didn't want to sit out and look for a job elsewhere, instead he wanted to stay in the PL where our media follow him around and have their noses rammed up his ass 24/7.

Pochettino would generally only replace a couple players though, I think. I don't think he was extreme with it.

Make no mistake, it would have absolutely destroyed him that Lampard got the Chelsea job while he was available. I would wager more so than Conte's title win.

He even said "that man right there, that was a man who I could depend on, that's a leader", something like that. I don't think Jose is bitter towards Frank, I could be wrong but I don't think that's the case.

He knew what he was doing alright. All the spotlight has been on Spurs and him now, rather than surprise packages in Rodgers or Lampard, and on Klopp potentially leading Liverpool to a premier League title for the first time in god knows how long. Every move Jose makes is deliberate. I find this move very orchestrated. All the focus has been on our youth players and academy, so José' first interview is praising Tottenham's academy lol. This guy.

He could have sat out until the end of the season and took over an entirely different club, but he decided to go to Spurs of all clubs, a direct London rival. The guy has no scruples. To see Lampard getting so much praise about the youth, an area where he failed at Chelsea, must hurt his ego. This is the guy who said "if they don't make it, he would have failed as a manager" when talking about a handful of our youth players.

He wants to stay in the Premier League, he's been saying this since he came back. I remember his press conference at United he said he could be in another league managing a team that's already won the league before it starts, but instead he wants to be here in the Premier League. Plus he likes London, I'm not surprised he's hung around for a Premier League job, it was inevitable really. I knew he was going to either Spurs or Arsenal, it's not surprising to me.
November 21, 20196 yr The papers are quoting him saying some nice things about Pochettino. I also think he wants to stay in London and wants a realistic challenge. One things for sure the league becomes a little more entertaining and I look forward to hearing his comments on the usage of VAR!

I also fear them in the top 4 race this season. Next season they'll do better than this season, but he won't win the PL, mainly because Klopp is too good. Third season it will all explode and it will be beautiful to see. Jose only knows one way to achieve success. His methods are too intense and antagonistic to have a long shelf life. He'll start to unravel and he'll start falling out with everybody around him. He has to cause chaos, that is his modus operandi. If he tries to adopt a new approach, he won't be successful, so he will revert to type, just as he did at Chelsea second time round. Started off all happy, playing good football, but the latter half of our title-winning season we stopped playing football, gave up possession, and relied wholly on Hazard. It was wretched to watch, and the following season it got really ugly, and as we plummeted, he literally had no idea how to stop the rot, and he completely lost the respect of the players. Interestingly, and tellingly, he made exactly the same mistakes at Utd. He couldn't adapt, he couldn't learn. He did exactly the same, which proves a lot. The moment he starts blaming the board, rather than himself, he's done for at Tottenham, because Levy won't stand for it. They'll possibly win a cup or two in his two and a half seasons at Tottenham, but they won't the league. He's a far worse manager than he once was, because he's lost his lustre, and his mystique, and he doesn't really get the modern player. He's lost his aura of invincibility, which counts for a lot, much like in boxing. He's been sacked 3 times by PL clubs. 3 times. It's a lot. He's becoming a journeyman, a gun for hire. The more he loses the respect of his players, the more he fails to relive past glories, the more he gets riled, and it all flares up. It's 10 years since he won the CL, he's only won 2 league titles since then, at Utd he failed for the first time to win the league in his second season at a club. He's declining and declining and declining. Madrid fans were happy to see the back of him, as were Chelsea fans, as were Utd fans. There were no real tears. I can't wait for it all to explode at Tottenham, and I promise you it will. Edited November 21, 20196 yr by Davey Baby
November 21, 20196 yr He reckons his learned his lessons and won’t make the same mistakes again. Anyone believe him? If he can rediscover his charm then it could be the old Jose.
