has been obvious from day one conte has no interest in him being part of the squad. but with him gone this is another position where we have very little cover. and we're about to start measuring the transfer window in hours.

maybe solanke is signing a new contract and staying. having ruben as our third striker isn't good enough, especially if we are going to play two up at times.

^ Solanke got injured playing for the under 23s today at ManU with a poor challenge from the United player. He had looked rusty before the injury.

Where's this loan story coming from, can't see anything anywhere?

Strange move for us?

Are we likely to bring in another attacker ourselves so close to the window closing?

Surely only two recognised strikers isn't enough for the season? Suppose Real Madrid make it work. 

@ForeverCarefree It is odd. I will be astounded if we get rid with only two recognised strikers and RLC an option too.

Remy never got a chance here though, no one seems to rate him so a loan would make sense in a bizarre way. He obviously wants to play, he can't rot on our bench all season. 

Was there not an underlying medical/fitness issue with Remy that limited his playing time, or does that just fit the script of him quietly playing the 3rd choice role?

Either way, don't think he was much of an impact as a Costa alternative last season, he'd only get gametime with Costa and Bats unavailable and he's never looked a fit leading the line alone.

Good luck to him if he's off to Palace, although another loan seems daft when it's another player we'd surely be better off just selling.

I agree. Two strikers is not enough, even with less fixtures. 

I wish we would get players in before we let players go. Our squad is looking so thin right now.

Remy to Palace on loan. Just confirmed.

So we are down to Costa, Bats...

And Bamford away on loan. Why cant we have three and rotate a little? We seem to be trying to keep our books as lean as possible. 

People want youth to be given a chance, which will look likely if our squad is thin and injuries occur. Yet there's moaning  that there isn't 2 defenders or another striker being bought 

I'm convinced they only want youth played ahead of Ivanovic Matic Oscar Pedro and Mikel

No two strikers is pretty clear. We have 2 out and out strikers so it is the same formation. With Costa's injury-record this is not a very good situation.

I do wonder whether we're going to bring someone in. We've made the mistake of only having two strikers in our squad before, and that was when we didn't have a manager who might want to play two up front.

Solanke is still knocking around, although you'd think we'd have seen more of him if Conte considered him as a serious option.

Erm you do realise we have loaned out our young strikers....

Can hardly give youth a chance when they aint here anymore.

Costa has cheese strings for hamstrings and with only 1 other striker that's threadbare.

Interesting to see Remy has opted to leave Chelsea as our third choice striker and join Palace as their... third choice striker

Given injuries/suspensions I guess we'll see Ruben playing as a striker, who seems to have jumped ahead of Solanke as third choice striker. I hope we don't see the Hazard false nine thing again, the only other option would be Ike Ugbo, this is what happens when we stupidly loan out players without getting anyone in, still don't see why we can't terminate Traore's loan.

If we want to challenge for the title we can't go in with only Costa and Bats as senior strikers

Maybe we should take this as an indicator that we aren't aiming to challenge for title and that top 4 is our only priority. That would seem to lack ambition in my eyes but it could be an indicator I guess. 

Barca have signed Paco Alcacer, Remy loaned to Palace, and Luis Suarez reported to be house hunting in Surrey....
