August 25, 20169 yr The only reason I can think of as too why he hasnt really ever attracted much attention by Bpl team or generally bigger clubs is that he is a stats player a bit like Leighton Baines because he takes set pieces his stats look really good be in reality his overall play is average having not really watched him too often i cant judge I watched him a few times last season and was never that impressed tbh. I think "stats players" are exactly what we need though, Rodriguez is the type of LB that could turn a 1-0 lead into 2-0 from a set piece, or help us grind a result when we're not playing well. Offensively the likes of Alex Sandro and Marcelo are in a different league to him and I think there's room for him to improve defensively but he's solid enough for what we need imo. August 26, 20169 yr Is Alberto Moreno on your list? I really don't get the absolute over the top destruction of Moreno. I get that he isn't great, but every time I watch Liverpool he isn't so bad that it's enough to warrant the "may as well play with 10 men" line. Maybe I've just seen him on his 3 or 4 best games?
August 26, 20169 yr Most of the times I've seen him he's looked like a fairly decent player (although not as good as I expected based on the few times I saw him at Sevilla), but it seems like he's had a couple of absolute horror show performances which were high-profile and close together. With his own fans abusing him, the wider footballing audience laughing at him, and an out-of-position James Milner relegating him to the bench, I can't imagine he's in a very good mental state right now.
August 26, 20169 yr The game he had at Arsenal was one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a full back....literally everything he did...he did wrong.
August 26, 20169 yr My personal favourite was Carl Jenkinson in the 8-2 (Man Utd - Arsenal) from a few years back. I remember him getting absolutely eviscerated all game by Ashley Young or Nani (can't remember which) and capped it all by getting sent off. It was hilarious.
August 26, 20169 yr I remember last season when a friend of mine (who is a huge Liverpool fan) and who runs an up-and-coming online football publication posted this image through the facebook page. He would be the primary reason why I hate Liverpool more than our London rivals because of the way he and his fellow supporters talk about their club but then do things like this. You could look at that and think it's just meant to lighthearted/funny.. but fans of Liverpool aren't funny. They are always serious and always deluded and I don't think any other supporter base in the world would bag their own player to a level where they would generate an image like this and then share it through a fairly biased publication to the joy of their fans.

Moreno1.JPG Weve had "fans" wanting our players to break legs before which is much more moronic.
August 26, 20169 yr I suggest you never read the Mikel thread! As far as I can tell, the Mikel thread is all praise. Must have ignored anyone who thinks otherwise

I've only seen him play three games in all honesty but every time I have seen him it seems his positioning has been god awful. I mean I get that he's more of an attacking fullback than defensive but still... Also one of my friends from a previous workplace is a Liverpool fan and thinks he is one of the worst signings of the decade so I guess I defer to his judgement on that as they have had some truly dogsh*t players since 2006. I think it speaks volumes when Klopp would rather play Milner than you in your natural position.

August 29, 20169 yr Never seen Alonso play, but Rodriguez is clearly the second best LB in the Bundesliga, even if he didn't have the strongest of all years in 15-16. His set pieces are spectacular still if he has a sh*t game. Would have really liked that signing but we can't have it all.
August 29, 20169 yr Personally think he's rated highly by some because he takes set pieces. Not sure he's as exceptional as some would lead you to believe.

He wasn't during the past year, but in 14-15 he was spectacular for Wolfsburg. No wonder that they ended up 2nd in the league and winning the cup. Not only on him of course, but he was a key part to it.
January 3, 20179 yr Apparently Conte has spoken to his agent. Would give us two great options for LB.
January 3, 20179 yr I have no idea if he's any good or not so can't comment. But if we get him let's hope for a left back he's more Ashley Cole than Del Horno.
January 3, 20179 yr Rodriguez is the new Hulk. Without fail we're linked to him every transfer window.
