What I don't get is Conte was willing to play a guy like Pirlo as his deep lying midfielder but he won't even give Cesc the chance to do that and in my honest opinion Cesc is a much better passer than Pirlo is, Conte has so many options wide open but instead he sticks with Oscar... ?

Maybe his objective is for us not to lose instead of going for the win.

I don't get. Conte. Why he not play Cesc. Before, he play Pirlo. Now he play Oscar. But I respect him. He is great fighter. He is great champion. Okay. We fight. Chelsea always bring good drama show.

(Didn't look too against Kell Brook, Gennady. You need to buck up your ideas for any Canelo fight! Disappointed with you, man...)

BTW... Just needed to rephrase that in Golovkinese for you. :]

Just read Simeone has agreed a shortened contract at Atletico. Knocked 2 years off so he can leave in June 2018 - Conte gets 2 seasons max...

This was the original guy I wanted but lets atleast give Conte a chance to do something.

Dear God this is some next level sh*te. Pass the blunt you smoking...

Wijnaldum, Lallana, Henderson, Milner, Lovren, Matip, Mognolet, even Mane.

These are all average players imho.

Sturridge unfit/at half his level...

Only player of real quality is Coutinho.

Still think Coutinho, Mane, Lallana, Wijn is better than Hazard, Oscar, Willian and Matic as a group of attacking players. They are much more creative and play better together.

How is Pirlo better really he has done nothing but play in the Serie A which is considerably weaker in every single way than La Liga and BPL, Cesc has been a top player in both leagues I think you need to quit the drugs and stop believing the B.S. hype.

Why oh why Oscar, Iva and Matic continue to get playing time is beyond me... Oscar has offered next to nothing for quite awhile now and his "performances" are only masked with his continue pressing of the ball, granted he has looked a bit sharper this season - but he has not got the same killer ball instincts like Cesc does. Don't think much needs to be said about Iva, he's been a fantastic servant for us but his days at RB are numbered, depending on how long Terry is out for I wouldn't mind seeing Iva slot in for Cahill at center half. As for Matic, when he's on he's good, when he's off he is absolutely shocking! Maybe I'm being a bit critical of him as Kante didn't have the best game tonight either but Matic has been very average for far too long now.

3 very big games coming up (away at Leicester, Arsenal and Hull) first 2 games have me very worried and Hull have looked impressive this season. Hopefully today's result spells the end for Iva and we can see the introduction of Alonso at LB and shift Dave to his natural side at RB. Still early days and plenty of the season left to play but we need to make some changes in the lineup for Leicester.

Cesc has been a top player! JFC!!  Where and when? A few months here and for a year at Arsenal?

You are a moron. Imagine putting Pirlo who played in a dedicated position for a decade(He was that bloody good) below Fabregas, a shuffled about  player so good apparently no one knows where to f**king play him!

Our players need to FIGHT, what the hell, FIGHT, like if you do boxing you fight to win, not accept a knockout. You need to FIGHT to WIN or you LOSE. END OF.

Its the same old sh*t time and time again....why is Ivan still at RB let alone be captain...another shocker, losing the ball, be caught up field, can't track back and always leaves a huge amount of space behind him, can't cross, can't tackle and has no pace..why oh why is he still wearing that shirt.

Cahill is getting worse as he gets older, he peaked the season we won the league sit him on the bench ; hopefully Zouma will be back sooner rather than later.   Matic should not be anywhere near Stamford Bridge, he is struggling to find any consistent form and he more inclined to have a stinker than a good game.  Cesc should be in place of Matic to provide some creativity and support to Costa.   Totally bereft of ideas going forward because the ingredients have not changed. Willian while great one week runs into blind alleys and brick walls the next.   Once Hazard gets marked out the game we have no clue; meanwhile young hungry players are sat on the bench...how many times do we have to keep enduring this crap and why oh why do managers keep falling into the same trap with this group of players.   Conte needs to grow some balls over the next few weeks and not be hoodwinked when the players decide to turn up in training and then provide a piss poor performance on matchday.   He cannot come up with the excuse that he does not have another RB....yes he does! but he chooses to play him out of position at LB while a player who was bought to play LB warms the bench...totally idiotic ...Liverpool worked as a team from start to finish and certainly based on their games so far it is fair to say that they are improving vastly quicker than we are because Klopp is prepared to play new signings and integrate them into his team and gets them playing high press fast paced football while we continue playing in our pedestrian manner of going out for a Sunday, sideways, backwards and the odd occasionally sprint forward into a defensive wall.

I really expected better this season but I guess we are going to be served up the same dross

Can I like a post more than once?

Ivanovic used to be one of the best RB in the league, his expiration date was around 2014 or so. He is just a liability these days.

To me Cahill has never been worthy of anything more than bench fodder. Yeah he's decent but I want something a little bit better than decent or quite good as a starter for my beloved team.

Matic is a strange one, season we won league he was immense (at least for majority), even since then he has been flaky at best and shocking at his worst.

Your post is literally the highlight of the game for me, gives me hope that I'm not the only one watching us play and seeing problems with the players in bold.

I guess I will now await a customary mauling from the Ivanovic/Matic/Cahill luvvies.

Sucks to lose at the Bridge, but hey it happens. Chelsea are still 3-1-1 so far this season and it's all about progress and improvement at this point. Chelsea finished 10th last year, that's not easy to swallow. Conte needs to get these guys confident, clicking, and executing and a Champions League spot should be priority for this team and build from there.

I think Conte should maybe start considering utilizing that 3-4-3 he talked about earlier. Chelsea need help in the back. Defence wins championships. Thoughts on:

Courtois

Azpi/Ivan - Luiz - Cahill

Willian - Kante - Matic - Alonso

Oscar - Costa - Hazard

That's a super defensive line-up I know, maybe throw on Fabregas when needing to open defences, but it should help with the goal leakage.

I think Luiz had a very good game considering the stiff he was paired with at CB. Would like to have see Luiz and Ivan paired with Dave and Alonso. More pace, better ball control, and not losing much in height.

Willian has looked like sh*t imo. If he hits the first man one more time on a corner I am liable to smash my tv.

Anybody got a pic of our defensive shape for the 1st pool goal? Was laughable. 5 chelsea defenders marking each other.

And additionally, what happened to our defence, i remember just 2 years ago our defence was the envy of the EPL, everyone said it was probably the best defence in europe. the same players are here 2 years later and whats going on. You cant tell me they fell that far cos of age. I dont accept the excuses. This needs to be sorted out. THERE IS THE BLOODIED BOOT OF IVANOVIC IN THE TRANINING GROUND TO INSPIRE THE NEXT GENERATION, WHERE HE PLAYED WITH A BROKEN FOOT AND THE BLOOD IS ON THE BOOT. THIS IS THE PASSION THEY NEED TO FIND AGAIN. Yes im shouting cos I care. Blue till the END.

Shambles...

Edited by cRyptic

Had to go for a few pints after leaving the bridge so only just reacting to that woeful display on here now..it was sh*te, a flashback to last season and conte left it too late to bring subs on (just as he has in other games), but tonight he didn't get away with it...

However, he has to learn about his players still and the English game...it is early days...top four and a possible cup run was only thing I wanted realistically from this season...

hate losing to that lot, but the fans who booed at halftime came across as right spoilt tossers if you ask me..

Jamie Carragher slammed Chelsea’s marking for Liverpool’s opening goal at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on Sky Sports at half-time, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher said: "I didn’t know if they were doing zonal marking or man-marking for Lovren’s goal. That is how poor the defending was.

"Chelsea were not ready from the start (of the free-kick). There were four players not doing anything.

And Carragher was critical of the former Italy manager’s comments and questioned his approach after the Blues sat off Liverpool during their rampant first half.

Carragher said: "Did Liverpool press Chelsea (so they were sitting back) or was it Chelsea sitting back on purpose?

"Conte said before the game that it was a bad time to play Liverpool: why? Chelsea are flying as well. Liverpool have had some good results but Chelsea are at home

"Matic also talked about it and Chelsea seemed obsessed with Liverpool and stopping Liverpool, and they had too many men behind the ball.

"Chelsea in the second half was what we should have seen for the whole 90 minutes.”

It sucks having to post this, but the scouser is right !!! What the hell were we doing ? We seem to play with an almost 3 Defensive midfielders (Matic - Oscar - Kante) and yet we end up letting goals in. Have we had a clean sheet this season so far ? Why aren't we going with the attitude of lets score more goals than the other team. If Fabergas does not make the coach comfortable then why not start a 2 striker system and drop Oscar ? Why are we worrying about the opponents defense and not giving them a chance to worry about our offense ?

I am glad we never got Lukaku for 60 million, The chances are he too will be in the bench with Batshuayi. Enough with my ranting, I feel i am getting too cynical now.

For me Oscar was long done even before last season. I had really hoped we would sell him this window. He is capable in defense and good enough to be a backup. Thats it. He is not a first teamer. For me, neither is Willian although he is much better than Oscar.

It would be ideal if we could sell him in January for 40+ million and buy a good CB

Just didn't get going at all did we, Shocking marking for both goals (Where was Dave for the 1st?!) & looked a real lack of desire from the players in what you would expect they would have for a game of this magnitude, this highlighted by the stat that was shown before the game we are 16th in distance ran table, which is pretty worrying to say the least.

Disappointed how late the changes were as well as how we set up to defend rather than take the game to them at home, one thing that was great about Jose is he would change things instantly as soon as things were not going our way, Conte will learn surely still early days for him in a different league.

Actually thought Luiz was one of our better players also did what he had to do nothing silly but still would like to see him further forward when JT is back to give us that bit of energy we are lacking in midfield.

Some tricky fixtures coming up now lets hope Conte can get the boys firing again. Would like to see....

                                        Tibo

Azpi       Cahill       Terry (if fit)     Alonso

                                      Luiz

              Pedro       Fabregas     Kante        Hazard

                                    Costa

Very disappointing and the same Chelsea of last year. Shoddy defence putting us on the back foot right from the beginning.

Don't understand the reason why we're holding Fabs until so late in the game.

I really do feel our players don't give two hoots. It seems they're total mercenaries and have no interest in the result, other than being booed off the pitch, which rightly they should be.

The heart and soul of the team is not there. Nothing has changed since last year. Mou should have stayed and half the team or more should have been sacked.

Thought we looked and played very nervously in h1 and passed badly.

Costa is a great player but he is poor at holding up the ball when we loft it forward from defence.

Cahill and ivanovic were average tonight and we don't seem to have many routes to goal when hazard is a bit off.

On the positive side though Luiz was great. Showed good pace, stamina and stayed calm. Likewise CosA just played football and was vertpy focussed.

I hate the loss but we will be better for it.

I do wonder why the subs come so late. It's not just about fitness and freshness but also giving the opposition something different.

Not sure that 4:3:3really suits this team.
